question Logitech Rally

Pessoal, tudo bem.

question Anyone else absolutely hate the Crestron DMPS3 audio mixer?

Post image
50 Upvotes

I need to vent. How did Crestron manage to make the DMPS3 audio mixer such a miserable thing to work with?

Basic audio routing and level control feel way more complicated than they should. Between source selection, mixer settings, and output controls, it feels like a scavenger hunt just to figure out where the hell your audio is going.

My biggest frustration is balancing the microphones with digital DM audio. I have the mic level set to 0 dB and the DM input level adjustment turned all the way down to -10 dB, the lowest that setting allows, and the HDMI audio is still too loud relative to the microphones. Getting a usable balance shouldn’t be this much of a headache.

Anyone else run into this?

question Can the Extron Ethernet Driver for Biamp Tesira Control Parametric EQs?

I'm designing a touchpanel page in GCP with 5 bands of PEQ which (ideally) would control a 5 band PEQ in a Tesira Server-IO. In the available control commands, I don't see PEQ as an option, just GEQs (I don't like GEQs, lol).

If I just use the Graphic EQ Band Gain control and use a PEQ's Instance Tag, would it work? Anybody done this before?

troubleshooting Logitech Tap IP and Rally Bar Camera - Meet Now Teams Info

I have a MS Teams Room with Logitech Tap IP and Rally Bar Camera. If I use the Meet Now button on the Tap IP Panel, the Rally Bar Camera launches the meeting, but theres a giant pop up dialog in the middle of the screen with the meeting info. The only solution I can find to dismiss this is the back arrow on the Rally Bar remote control. Does anyone know if it's possible to dismiss this dialog from the Tap IP Panel? I hate that I have to switch from the Tap IP to the remote just to get rid of this stupid dialog pop up.

question Power Bar for Installs

Everything was going fine today until one of my techs walked in and dropped this bombshell on me.

So for the past 10 years or so, we've been stocking the Phantom Cables/Infinite Cables 6 outlet metal power bars for use on our installs. They were a rebranded version of the Prime Wire & Cable PB801120. They had a bunch of really great features that made them perfect for when you just need an extra couple of outlets behind a TV or under a table. They look pro so nobody ever questioned them and they held up very well. They also came at a price point that if you had to throw one on a job to make it work, it didn't impact the bottom line in a noticeable way.

Apparently they may no longer be available and we're on the hunt for something to replace them with.

I am looking for suggestions for a power bar that ideally looks like this or is really close.

  • Metal housing
  • UL/ETL certified or some equivalent
  • Comes in 3' and 10' cord lengths
  • External mounting tabs (none of this trying to line up holes you can't see)
  • 6 outlets or something between 4 and 8 outlets
  • Costs less than $40? The Prime ones were around $20 which probably should have been a clue that they were too good to be true.
  • Doesn't need surge (which is usually sacrificial at this price point).

We've only got around 30 of them left on our shelves and our book of work is over 100 projects deep so I need something pretty quickly.

question Display mount recommendation

Hi all, I work in an IT department and was asked to find a display mount for a 43” display. The group would like the mount to be extendable/articulating and have the ability to be rotated in portrait and landscape views.

I personally have never seen a mount that is capable of this but figured I’d ask this group since AI hasn’t given me any good results.

I appreciate your advice/recommendations.

troubleshooting Neat Bar and Neat Pad Pairing Issue

Hi all,

I'm having an issue with a Neat Bar and Neat Pad.

The Neat Pad is able to discover the Neat Bar during setup. The Bar's serial number appears in the list, and I can select it to start pairing.

However, after the pairing process starts, it eventually fails with the message: "Unable to find Neat Bar"

The Neat Bar only shows the serial number and network information screen the entire time, and nothing changes on the Bar when pairing is attempted.

What I've checked:

- Both devices are connected via Ethernet & on the same subnet

- Network team confirmed the required rules are in place

- Factory reset performed multiple times on both devices

Additional information:

- During setup, the Neat Pad only shows "Meeting room" and "Room availability"

- I don't see the "Set up Neat Bar" option that I expected

- The Bar is reachable via HTTPS using its IP address, but only device information is displayed (Status & Network). No firmware update or administration options are available.

Has anyone seen this before?

question Logitech MeetUp 2 in a 6.5m × 4m meeting room, too large?

Hi all,

I’m looking at upgrading one of our meeting rooms and I’m considering a Logitech MeetUp 2, mainly because there’s quite a significant price jump to a Rally Bar.

The room is approximately 6.5m × 4m (21ft × 13ft) and normally has 6 tables, with around 4–5 people in the room. Depending on where people sit, they’d be roughly 3–5 metres from the camera.

We currently just use the integrated webcam/microphone on a laptop sitting on the table for Teams meetings. It’s obviously not ideal, but the remote side can see the room and everyone in it reasonably well.

The proposed upgrade would put the MeetUp 2 centrally at the front of the room with a 75" display. Users would continue joining Teams from their own laptops/BYOD.

I know Logitech positions the MeetUp 2 for smaller rooms, so I'm interested in real-world experience rather than just the spec sheet.

Has anyone used a MeetUp 2 in a room around this size?

In particular:

  • Can people around 5m away still be seen reasonably clearly?
  • How well do the microphones pick up someone speaking from the back?
  • Does RightSight/framing help at that distance?
  • Would you consider a Rally Bar necessary, or is MeetUp 2 perfectly adequate if the requirement is a good whole-room Teams view rather than close-up video of every participant?

Our installed quote jumps from around £4K + VAT with MeetUp 2 to £7K + VAT with a Rally Bar/Rally Bar 2, so I’m trying to establish whether the extra cost would actually be justified.

Thanks!

career Event tech rates in the UK?

Hi all,

I'm primarily a camera operator and guarantee in broadcast, streaming and events in the UK.

I also last year started working as an AV technician for conferences and corporate events, often at ICC Wales but via a sub contractor they use.

I'm a little unsure on whether I should up my rates or not. As a cam op in sports and streaming, I usually charge £350-£400 per day, but for my AV work I only charge £300 per day (for local jobs, up to a 1 hour drive away).

This is usually either managing video in rooms (switching powerpoints, ISO records with PTZs etc) or speaker preview (taking in all the powerpoints, checking them and sorting them on a network drive ready for techs in rooms).

This is all for work in the south west of England and Wales, I rarely tend to bother with AV in London due to the hassle of travel.

For this sort of stuff, what is everyone else charging? I'd like to up my AV rates but I'm scared this will lower the amount of days I work!

Any ideas, advice or thoughts are appreciated.

PS - I'm aware rates here are much lower than in the US, so please don't rub in your $1000 day rates in the comments!

Thanks

news New Logitech and Cisco announcements (2027-2030)

Thumbnail webex.com
7 Upvotes

With Logitech coming out new gear next year and Cisco announced new ceiling speakers.

Has anyone seen latest announcement from Cisco about IP based ceiling speakers with voicelift?

It looks like within 2-3 years from now, you can configure larger spaces to training room in days instead of weeks. Let it auto tune, connect everything to IP Based and you have your room setup in days.

Think of larger to lecture halls to divisible rooms.

I am waiting until crestron/qsc/biamp start to create more IP based systems where no programming is required and app can auto tune the room in hours instead of days…

question AV installers: better pricing or a referral commission?

Hey everyone! I work in AV equipment sales and would appreciate your perspective.

When choosing a supplier, would you rather get a lower price on equipment you buy and resell, or earn a referral commission when the supplier sells directly to your client? You’d charge for your installation separately in either case.

I know reliable service and honest availability matter too. I’m curious which arrangement fits the way you work and why.

question How to make AM-3200-WF go to sleep (Idle) if no one is using the USB-C cable connected to the AM-TX3-200.

Hi there, I have an AM-3200-WF device behind the TV display, which seems to be preventing the TV display from going to sleep when no one is using the USB-C cable connected to the AM-TX3-200. I was wondering if anyone has any idea how to make the AM-3200-WF go to sleep when no one is using the USB-C cable? Or any settings that can be done on the TV display to make it go to sleep?

question Custom AV wall plates

Folks where are you guys ordering custom plates from? Either 1/2/3 Gang plates or rack plates with connectors, engraving, that sort of thing.
I always used PanelCrafters from Liberty, but the website suggests that the line has been eliminated.

TIA

question What happens inside a speaker with a “Mic/Line” toggle?

Using portable speakers from QSC, Alto, Behringer… for one-night rental setups, thus far I’ve used said toggle as a “magic/more magic” switch for Volume range, setting the speakers to Line if Mic caused distortion and vice versa.

What does it actually do, and should I stop?

design request Best practice for AV room to monitor a large conference room

Updated: client has deleted the room and instead, going with and equipment closet :)
Thanks everyone who contributed - I've learned some new things and can use for the future.

Hi -
I'm a designer and have a project under developement in an office building. It is a large meeting room (approx 2, 000 sq ft) that can be divided into two room. But will mostly house staffing type meetings for tech company, with speakers (ie podium) and multiple monitors and a speaker system but nothing super high end or meant for enterainment (ie no live music or preformances).

A small AV monitoring room was designed but no window or door to visually access the room.

I've been tasked with adding visual access - and finding all kinds of advice regarding providing sound proof glass etc but seems to geared towards recording studios.

Any guidlines or advice? TIA

news Altitude Audio Video – Denver/Centennial - Steven Racz

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

I wanted to share my negative experience with Altitude Audio Video LLP and its owner, Steven Racz.

Based on my personal experience, I have serious concerns about the company’s business practices, financial management, and how people are treated.

I’ve witnessed issues involving unpaid obligations, delayed payments, and agreements not being honored. In my opinion, the company operates in a questionable and unprofessional manner.

Based on what I’ve personally experienced, I would not recommend doing business with Altitude Audio Video LLP. I believe people should be cautious about who they trust with their money and business.
