Tips Tested every tip on how to avoid procrastination in college - here is what actually worked vs what was total nonsense
Over the last two semesters, I tried basically every viral productivity hack to see if I could fix my awful habit of leaving everything until midnight before the deadline.
Here’s my honest takeaway on how to avoid procrastination in college:
What was total nonsense (for me):
The Pomodoro technique (25m work / 5m break): The 5-minute break just turned into a 45-minute YouTube rabbit hole every single time.
Aesthetic daily planners: Spent hours making them look pretty, never opened them again.
What actually worked:
The 5-minute start rule: Telling myself ""I only have to type for 5 minutes, then I can quit."" 90% of the time, getting over the initial friction was all I needed.
Studying in public spaces (library/café): Peer pressure works wonders when you know people can see your screen.
What hack actually fixed your productivity, and what turned out to be useless?
