DISCUSSION I Finished the Trilogy of Code Geass but i have the feeling of seeing this in another similar production before. Gundam Z A new Translation.

When i finished the main series, i was having the curiosity of seeing the movies, but then its just a little changes , an re-animated scenes just as Gundam Z a New Translation, but it feels less soft than seeing an anime series just overlaping or blended with actual animation from 2004 in the case of Gundam Z because they constant use 80 animation scenes and then mixed with modern re-animated scenes , in the case of Code Geass was barely blended, and very tolerable, the only change that matters in both trilogy, is that in Gundam Z Kamilles doesnt get crazy as a vegetative state of his mind, and in the Trilogy of code geass, there is small changes and the mostly important one is that Shirley survives.

My opinion, is for doing this type of productions related to a franchise as well, its making from zero, just like they are doing with Raylearth (I mentioned this because Clamp girls are behind the team production) so in this sceneario it would be more accesible to adapt the entire R1 and R2 from a proper remake instead of doing re animations and blended with the old series, as far i know in Code geass they are things that they can be added as proper remake and giving the enough time to be developed since now its a great and big franchise as well.

Eh, not really. Gundam is REALLY big, and Code Geass is no where near as successfull, especially it's spin offs. You don't see as many people looking to the original 79' Gundam series as carrying the franchise. Gundam also has alot more spinoffs, that are even more successfull than the original series, without even mentioning model kit sales. Code Geass is no doubt, top-tier show with alot of clout, but ultimately defined by one core story.

When they first came out, all I thought would be similar to New Translation was cutting some stuff for time while still adding some new scenes, but there's less of an animation difference between 10 years and 25, and no one could be sure yet what exactly would be changed (since they already announced a fourth movie), so maybe that was just a coincidence. Apparently, there's plenty of Sunrise mecha anime that get that sort of treatment. Combat Mecha Xabungle's movie had one character survive, Blue Combat SPT Layzner's OVA trilogy pretty much gave the series its real ending, and there's also one Gundam short showing how one character could have survived Char's Counterattack.

Of course, but the thing, is there is already a lot of examples of how Original anime without any manga from what is based, they got a proper remake, just a prequel shows too.

CLAMP only did the character design. They had zero power over the story or direction so the comparison doesn’t work. Especially since the new Rayearth anime is a full remake. The 90s anime added a lot in terms of filler so this new adaption is covering only what was in the manga. Code geass doesn’t have that, it’s a anime original.

The thing with the code geass movies was them making a totally different timeline so they could continue the franchise without touching the tv anime. They’re two different continuities.

Code geass doesn’t need a remake. It’s fine as is. It’s literally just 20 years old and holds up insanely well compared to others and is easily accessible compared to older series.

sorry i couldnt put the example of Gundam The origin prequel ovas, which is based in the actual manga way before the 079 and gundam Z already aired and part of the backstory was assumed or being drawing in small artbooks. So i believe it could be work with the same case of Code Geass, just as A new translation because in that trilogy Kamille doesnt get crazy so its an alternative timeline created by sunrise. Why shouldnt make a remake in based on that or least a prequel, if they already released the trilogy movie?

Uh, you’ve got your info wrong on that manga. Origin isn’t canon. It’s an adaption of the manga that is a retelling of the overall series by the character designer and had zero input from Tomino. It was published in the early 2000s, 30+ years after the series had ended. All the characters are super ooc compared to their counter parts in 79 and don’t fit at all with their attitudes in the original series, Char being the biggest example, so again not a great example. It would be like if they gave CLAMP free rein over the series, and while I would adore that since they are much better writers overall it would be a very different series.

The movies were the solution to making a new timeline. The creators explained this when they were coming out. They left the original tv series as is so as to not upset the fans. There’s no need for a remake.

Anime Recap movies aren’t rly anything new. Gurren Lagann has some, AOT has some, and as the name implies, they’re meant to be recaps with some new content to give you an incentive to watch.
