Looking for a Hair Stylist recc. in Clayton
Man in my 30's with hard to manage, very thick wavy hair, worn med to long.
I'm having a hard time finding a decent and modern place that isn't either a salon that caters to old ladies, or a barber for boys called fade-2-cutz or something.
Bonus points if they're near downtown. Thanks! 💇

New Indian restaurant
We tried the new Indian restaurant last night on main st near Vinsons. Aroma is the name. Fantastic. Good service and food was delicious, if you like Indian food of course! Happy to have something new and different in town

Trick or Treat spots
We live in the outskirts of town and unfortunately not in a neighborhood so looking for some good spots to take the kids trick or treating this year. We’ve gone to Broadmoor in the past but looking for a more active neighborhood that maybe the houses are a little closer together.

Tire plug/patch?
Hey y’all! Does anyone know where I could get a nail removed from my tire and it plugged and/or patched on a Sunday? I know it’s a fairly simple job, but I don’t fully trust myself. I also don’t really want to bother anyone I know with it since it is so simple. I usually go to the tire shop at the corner of hwy 42 and Old Stage rd for things like this, but they are closed today (Sunday). I appreciate any and all suggestions!

Recruiting for UNCG Tweens on Screens Research for North Carolina Families
serious-method-313268.framer.appThe Tweens on Screens project, led by researchers at UNC Greensboro, is studying how kids ages 10–12 use technology in daily life, and how parents guide them. By looking closely at these patterns, we hope to uncover what helps kids thrive, what puts them at risk, and how families can build healthy digital habits together. Our goal is simple: to give parents science-backed tools and tips for raising confident, well-balanced kids in the digital age (link in comments) #northcarolina

Reputable home rental companies?
Moving to the Raleigh area soon. Looking near Fuquay Varina, Clayton, Garner or knightdale areas. Any advice on property companies or areas you would recommend or avoid? Prefer single family home but open to the idea of a townhouse as well.

Arrest on Neuse River Pkwy 09.30
My wife saw a person being arrested yesterday in front of the East Lake subdivision in Flowers. She said the guy was fighting the sheriff’s and was thrown to the ground/arrested. Ambulance/fire also showed up. Anyone got the scoop? Curious as more crime seems to be occurring in our corner of JoCo.

Hair salon recs?
hello! Can anyone recommend a good hair salon? I don’t get color or any extras, I just want a simple wash, cut and blowout. My hair is really thick and curly so i need a stylist who can handle curly hair. It doesn’t have to be a curly salon though.

Local Garner dad asking Clayton neighbors for one free vote
Hi Clayton neighbors! My name is Raúl, and I live nearby in Garner with my wife and our four-year-old son, Leo.
I’m currently in third place in the 2026 Super Dad competition. I grew up without a present father, and when Leo was born, I promised myself that he would always feel loved, safe, and supported. I’m not trying to be a perfect dad—just the kind of father I needed when I was growing up.
If I win, the $25,000 prize would go toward Leo’s future education. My mother raised four children by herself and made sure all of us earned college degrees, so continuing that legacy for my son would mean everything to me.
The Top 10 round ends tomorrow, October 1, at 10:00 p.m. ET. There is one free vote every 24 hours, and no donation is necessary. I’m only asking for the free vote:
https://yoursuperdad.org/raul-vazquez-tmYY
Thank you for supporting a local dad and helping me build a brighter future for my son. Every single vote truly matters. 🙏

Sick of the Surprise Spectrum Price Hikes
I'm Spectrum internet only, and I've had two prices increases this year alone (and we still have three months to go!).
For cable internet, I'm now paying $100.00/month, which just went up from last month's $79.99 billing amount.
Of course, they don't give you a heads-up, no email, nothing. Just, "here's your new billing price and eat it".
I've tried calling to get a better price, to no success....which is ridiculous that we even have to play this game.
The reality is that Sprectrum is a monopoly. They are the only game in Clayton. Outside of the two streets that have actual decent fiber access....or the horrible Brightspeed experience...Spectrum is the only reliable provider in town.
What are you guys paying each month?

Flock Cameras, and their current known locations in Clayton NC

Clayton PD ordered 10 Flock cameras in December 11th of 2024. 8 out of 10 have been positively identified so far. Predictably, these are placed on all major roads into and out of Clayton, tracking the patterns of your movements every time you pass through their vision. No one has the right to such personal information, and indeed we do have a reasonable right to privacy in public.

Vet Recommendations?
I've become less than thrilled with my current vet practice (Wake Veterinary Medical Center in Knightdale) and I'm looking for other options, specifically a vet who has patience and understanding with anxious and easily overstimulated dogs. I'm open to traditional practices as well as a vet who would do home visits.

Flock Cameras, and Clayton PD's Ongoing Violation of our 4th Amendment Right
The purpose of a system is what it does.
Flock cameras are a vast, nationwide system of AI-powered cameras (currently 120,000 strong) installed along the most commonly used roads throughout the nation. In cities and towns, large and small, these cameras snap hundreds of millions of photos every day, and machine-learning models instantly analyze every car’s license plate, make/model/color, bumper stickers, bike racks, cosmetic damage, and even physical identifiers of people in the car. Each snapshot, serving as a fingerprint of your vehicle (and, by extension, yourself personally), is stamped with a date, time, GPS location, and direction of travel. Flock Safety (the private, for-profit company responsible for this network) sells camera installations and subscriptions to this database of surveillance footage to public and private entities, it is not just the police that have access to this information.
You can spot these cameras yourself, for they have sprung up here in Clayton as well. The next time you’re on HWY 70 traveling East, driving past Venero’s Pizza, look for a thin black pole with a solar panel mounted on top, placed in the grass divider between the parking lot and the road, and wave to the camera as it creates another datapoint with which to establish a pattern of your movements. Or if you’re traveling West towards Walmart, look to your right when passing the entrance to Medical Park Place to find another Flock camera, logging that this is your 5th trip this week. Or even when you’re traveling North on O’Neil Street, where you’ll be pleased to cross two cameras (one by the intersection between O’Neil and Covered Bridge Road, the other directly in front of the entrance to the Neuse River Trailhead) that are both noting that you typically travel towards Riverwood around this time of day.
Make no mistake, this is warrantless long-term surveillance, enacted upon every single citizen of Clayton. Our 4th amendment right was established against unlawful searches, and long-term surveillance is, without contention, a search (read the Supreme Court’s ruling on Jones vs. United States (2012)). Further to that point, a warrant for a search shall not be issued to any law enforcement agency, until probable cause has been established in pursuit of an ongoing criminal investigation.
What crime are we ALL under suspicion of, that our Chief of Police Greg Tart deemed it necessary to sign a contract with Flock in 2024 for the installation of 10 Flock Cameras in our town? With what warrant has Clayton PD obtained that justifies the gross violation of our natural right to privacy? Or has our own Chief of Police, of all agents of the law, forgotten the law itself, which has determined that we have a reasonable right to privacy even in public spaces? It is the right of no man, agency, or company to know your everyday commute. Not the police, not Flock Safety, no one.
We must ask ourselves how much abuse we are willing to tolerate at the hands of our police department, because abuse is precisely what this is.
