😭 Accidentally purchased $100 in Claude usage credits using my mom's credit card 💳💔 Is there any hope of getting a refund?

Hey everyone,

I'm a university student from India 🇮🇳, and I'm honestly freaking out right now. 😭

On October 15, I was trying to activate the promotional credits offered by Anthropic on Claude. While navigating the settings, I accidentally ended up purchasing $100 worth of extra usage credits on my Claude Pro account.

The worst part? My mom's credit card was saved on my account, and the payment went through using her card.

For context, $100 is a really significant amount of money for me and my family. I genuinely never intended to purchase these credits. I was only trying to activate the promotional offer.

Here's the situation:

  • Purchased credits: $100
  • Credits used: $0
  • Credits remaining: $100
  • Purchase date: October 15, 2026
  • Account: Claude Pro (Individual)
  • Usage credits: Turned off
  • Auto-reload: Turned off

I contacted Anthropic support almost immediately after realising what happened.

Unfortunately, their AI support agent (Fin) told me that credits are non-refundable under Anthropic's Credit Terms, even if they haven't been used.

I've requested that my case be escalated to a human billing representative for a one-time exception, but I haven't received confirmation that a human has reviewed it yet.

I'm not trying to get free credits or take advantage of anything. I genuinely just want the accidental purchase reversed, and Anthropic can remove all $100 worth of credits from my account.

I understand that companies have refund policies, but considering that I contacted support immediately and haven't used even a single dollar of the purchased credits, I'm hoping there might be some flexibility.

🙏 Reddit, I could really use your help!

Did anyone manage to get a refund for accidentally purchased Claude usage credits? Is there another way to contact a human billing representative?

I would really appreciate any advice or experiences you can share. I'm genuinely stressed about losing this money, especially since it was charged to my mom's credit card.

Thanks for reading.

Claude max for $29 instead of $200 ... seriously how are they doing this?

i got a Claude max account from a reseller for essentially nothing compared to what I used to pay . It works flawless. since 3 months No issues yet i paid only for 1 month . Now I can't stop thinking about their business model. If resellers can sell it this cheap and still profit, how are they acquiring these accounts at scale?

Long story short, my claude was compromised, the attackers upgraded my plan to Max x20, and then they deleted my chats. Chats that I used for work and were invaluable. All this work is now gone completely, Anthropic has no human support, and all that for the low low price of £20 a month. Like is this a joke? And before people comment about "individual" responsibility, I take accountability, but can anthropic do the same? There need to be protocols for situations like this.

If you only chat with it, a Pro plan is more than enough, but once you start coding session limit hits in about 1h (even 10 mins with big repos, 50% just by reading all of it) of Claude working, doing a quarter of what I asked it to do.

Not to talk about weekly limts, a single big prompt can use a whole week usage, and several session limit.

I think that by paying 20$ monthly Claude shouldnt be this limited, what do y'all think about it?
