Golem reroutes path
I’ve always played a Golem deck and have never seen this before. Thought it was interesting.
Edit: I’m not referring to the initial reroute to the goblin drill, but rather the second reroute back to the right lane after attacking the goblin drill.

People that say "this makes sense" or "this is how pathing works" are talking out of their asses imo. This movement makes absolutely zero sense, and I've only started seeing this kind of movement recently (maybe 1 year or so)

Interesting. Well whether it makes sense or not in this case I was relieved my golem circled back to the right lane after attacking

Tell that to literally any footage of this exact interaction on THIS EXACT SUBREDDIT from SEVERAL YEARS AGO

Wow I thought that was more of a recent thing. I guess I was wrong. Thank you

Dude this has been in the game for as long as I remember (so at least 6 years)

No it’s been consistent like this since the game came out, when a tower is down and a troop is placed in the lane with a tower up they will always go back to that tower unless they cross the bridge

Nah, like the other guy said, this has only been happening the last year or so. Troops used to go down the lane they ended up in, regardless of which tower was closer or if 1 tower was down.

Yeah sure, the video had a tower down and was placed on the right side the troop will always go to the right even if it crosses to the left, it’s shown up more because having a screen recorder is a normal thing these days, it’s consistent, it’s programmed into the game, and I’ve been using it for over 5 years now, the other guy just happens to be wrong

Dude there's literally plenty of footage of this happening years and years ago, this is not new whatsoever

I think this only happens in one princess tower situations. Technically the next closest target for golem is the princess tower in right lane so it paths back to that lane

I got curious, ran the replay through the simulator on its own data version (16.402.21) and stepped it tick by tick. The Golem does the same thing there, here's the details:
Each tick is 50ms
| Tick (time) | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1703 | The golem is played on the right side of the center, behind king tower |
| 1783 (89s) | Deploy finishes, opponent has only one princess tower left, in the right lane, so the golem starts walking there (to the right side) as it's target |
| 1725 (91s) | Goblin drill comes up in the left lane, 7.0 tiles from the Golem. Golem only targets buildings. Drill is building, golem sight range is 7.5 tiles, it switches to the drill straight away, while the drill is still deploying. Golem turns left. |
| 1845 to 1957 | Usual combat happens on the left side, it dies ~6.6s after coming up. The Golem is slow and is still about 2.3 tiles away centre to center, so it NEVER hits the drill. |
| 1960 | With the Golem's target (Goblin Drill) gone, THe golem picks the only building remaining, the princess tower on the right and walks back across. |
TL;DR: the drill pulled the Golem over, then died before it arrived.

Did you know that goblin drill is a building?

I should have been more clear. After it went to the goblin drill it circled back around the king tower again.

But yea, the pathfinder system does get a lil quirky sometimes

What are you stupid

Watch the video idiot. Not the first reroute to the goblin drill. Golem does a full circle around the king tower back to the right lane after initially resetting to the left lane to follow the goblin drill.

That's how pathing works
If you deploy a troop on a lane with a tower and the troop gets pulled to another lane without a tower, your unit will go back to the lane with a tower after the distraction is dealt with
