Troubleshooting Chromebox stuck on black screen with logo
I upgraded yesterday my Acer CXI3 from stable to newest stable. It got stuck on a black screen with white ChromeOS logo.
I can recover with beta from https://cros.download/recovery/fizz
But, when it updates, the same happens (it gets stuck). I repeated it several times, not allowing immediate upgrade, and switching build to stable or to dev: same happens after OS update.
Finally, I recovered with LTC. This works okay. That is ChromeOS version 150.
Also, I have a Minisforum mini-PC (Venus series UN100C) with ChromeOS Flex. Same story. Except that sticking a USB stick inside one of its ports, allows ChromeOS Flex to boot.
In the end, I'm glad that I learned to use the LTC version: updates are really fast, and Android apps download really fast.

If you have an other laptop use it and
1. Go to google
2. Search web store.
3. Download Chrome recovery utility.
4. Plug in your usb
5 instead of writing the model just and the blue sentence under (u forgot what it is )
And search for chrome flex
Then then you done let it be complete

Nope, that isn't it. I can only recover with beta or LTC. And recovering with beta only works till the first OS update.

Your experience with that model Chromebox (HWID "sion") is what I would expect. It reached its original AUE in 2025 at v.137 and if it was ever updated beyond that milestone the updated firmware will ony accept recovery images from the LTC, LTS or Beta/Dev channels. Attempting recovery with the v.137 stable image should fail based on my experience with other devices that have transitioned to extended updates. I believe your extended update AUE is now June 2028.
BTW, strictly speaking (rule 3) we're discussing this in the wrong sub.
