Extremely sad news tonight. Jared Smith from Charleston Weather (@chswx on all the platforms) has died.

He had complications from heart surgery and did not wake from sedation after the surgery.

He also just got married on October 4 and leaves behind a wife. https://x.com/Charlestonion/status/2110843280581910943

The cost to do a Pilates and Puppies class makes me roll my eyes so hard Charleston has lost its damn mind with these prices. Anything else obscene like this (other than rent?)

hello, i’ve recently started getting into ceramics, but i haven’t purchased a kiln yet. i’m holding off until i can afford a decent one. i ordered clay in bulk and hope to start working on some projects next weekend, but i’ll need access to a kiln. i’m just planning to make small dishes to start, so it doesn’t need to be a huge one. tia

A heads up for my fellow JZI commuters:

From the announcement sent: "Once the River Road detour is removed on Monday morning, traffic will shift into the new roundabout configuration at the intersection of Main, River, and Chilsom Roads. The new roundabout was constructed to improve safety and operational efficiency of the intersection."

This is part of the improvements that will eventually include the flyover at 17 and Main Road when it is complete.

We’re relocating from Texas in December/January. My husband will be going to Trident Tech, so we hope to find a place at least somewhat close to there. Will make longer commutes if we have to.
Is there anywhere that will rent a 2 bedroom to 2 adults and 4 kids?

Who in CHS has the best meatball sub? Been craving one for ages and dont want to settle for a mediocre one

Hello! My mom’s birthday is coming up and I need some help finding a good restaurant. I have searched seafood in this subreddit and I couldn’t find anything that really matched what I am looking for.

My mom suggested Gilligans, but I want to take her somewhere a little nicer since we live in the low country with plenty of seafood options that aren’t a chain. However, I do not have the money to go to a place like 167 raw or anything like that. Are there any mid tier seafood restaurants you guys would recommend? I am looking for somewhere in Summerville or North Charleston if possible. She specifically mentioned oysters but I know that may be difficult with the price range.

Thank you in advance!

Has anyone found a good hot yoga sculpt class in downtown Charleston? Don’t wanna drive to mt pleasant for corepower

Any good options in the area for getting a cheap thrifted suit tailored for a decent price?

SLED announced Wednesday morning that three prominent Lowcountry businessmen Patrick Bryant, Eric Bowman and John Osborne have all been arrested on sexually related offenses early Wednesday morning.

Hello!

I’m currently going between doctors and I was wondering if anyone in this sub has POTS and has a good Dr recommendation? Currently, my doctors are either telling me to eat less than 800 calories or that I don’t have POTS(even though I’ve already been diagnosed.

The cardiologist that diagnosed me is through Roper and she just didn’t feel comfortable treating it because she didn’t know enough. My current cardiologist through MUSC is telling me because I don’t pass out, I don’t have POTS.

I tried to get in to the EDS Clinic, but they aren’t even taking new appointments.

At Tuesday evening’s meeting, Mount Pleasant Town Council approved a settlement agreement that provides for the purchase of approximately 129 acres of the Republic Tract for a "future passive public park" (?) and limits development on the remaining property to 95 single-family homes.

Who makes the best?

Are not 80mph passing lanes exclusively for assholes during rush hours.

Thank you.

Im in Goose Creek, and everything around me is Oak and pine trees, unfortunately. I can travel up to about 20mins away.

If you have Maple, beech, magnolia or mulberry and are willing to let a stranger come collect some, please DM me! Id prefer to gather from a pesticide free area if possible.

Context if you'd like it- I breed isopods, and want to give my rolly polies a larger variety of leaves.

Hey, new to the area and looking for walking trails that go along rivers. I’m looking for bones or fossils and want to poke along the sides of rivers. A bit of a hike out to get to where the river meets the trail is fine.

Im in the goose creek area and a bit of a drive out to less walked trails is also fine with me.

Thanks

I have been looking at this event and just couldn't justify the price because I would need to travel and stay overnight, but I saw today they have a $500 off coupon pop up on the site. Has anyone been to this specific one? Are you able to meet the chefs? Did they have long lines?

Any weekly events for the above in the area?
