Discussion Was Chainsaw Man too short?
While many stories get criticized for being too long, I feel like the ending of Chainsaw Man is still being criticized today (about seven months after its release) specifically because it felt too rushed. If it had concluded in a hypothetical Volume 25 rather than Volume 24, I’m sure far fewer people would’ve hated the ending.

Theory Pochita IS the chainsaw devil
As we saw in the final chapter, despite pochita's erasure, chainsaws are still a thing, the only explanation being he wasn't the chainsaw devil, right?
However, this isn't unprecedented, as hybrids still exist despite their previous "name" being eaten, so what happened?
Pochita's erasing might work with loopholes such as Makima's or Your's contracts, based on intention, his intention not being erasing chainsaws, but the chainsaw man.

Cosplay Makima theme songs
Hi all! I’m in need of a song for Makima. It’s for a ramp walk for an upcoming event so it has to be in alignment with her personality but also upbeat to keep the hype going. So far I’m leaning towards maneater by Nelly furtado and desire by Meg myers.
Any and all suggestions are welcome

Discussion Makimas tragedy
I think what makes Makima so tragic is that she genuinely longs for connection, but she doesn’t know how to achieve it without control. She’s the Control Devil, and I think there’s something so heartbreaking about the fact that she wants something as simple as having an equal and being able to form a genuine bond with someone, yet the way she understands relationships makes that almost impossible for her. Pochita explains that she could only form relationships through fear, which is why she always wanted something like a family. She could have people obey her, fear her, and devote themselves to her, but none of that could give her the kind of connection she actually wanted. She had so much power over other people, yet she couldn’t obtain the one thing she truly desired.
What makes this even more tragic is that Makima isn’t simply someone who wants to destroy everything for the sake of destruction. She has her own ideals and genuinely wants to create what she considers a better world, but her methods are horrifying because she believes she has the right to decide what that world should look like. She wants to eliminate the things she considers undesirable, but in doing so, she treats other people’s lives and happiness as things she can manipulate to achieve her goals. She wants an equal, yet she approaches the world from a position of superiority. She wants connection, yet she uses fear to create relationships. The contradiction between what she desires and how she chooses to pursue it is what makes her character so fascinating to me.
I also think her relationship with Pochita makes this tragedy even more interesting. Makima admires Chainsaw Man and longs to be close to him, but she doesn’t approach him as someone she can simply get to know and understand. Instead, she tries to bring him under her control, believing that she can achieve the relationship she wants through her own power. She becomes so focused on Chainsaw Man that she fails to recognize Denji as a person in his own right. She can see the figure she admires, but she cannot properly see the human being standing right in front of her. And that’s what makes her so tragic to me. She is searching for an equal while repeatedly treating others as inferior.
The most heartbreaking part is that I don’t think Makima can simply be saved through someone showing her affection. For her to achieve the kind of connection she longs for, she would have to learn to see other people as equals and understand that love cannot be forced. But if control is fundamental to the way she understands relationships, then changing that would require a transformation that goes far beyond simply becoming a better person. It raises the question of whether Makima could ever truly achieve happiness while remaining the person she is. She might be capable of change, but the story never gives her the opportunity to reach that point. Instead, her life ends before she can overcome the contradiction at the centre of her existence.
And that’s why Nayuta’s existence makes her story so bittersweet. After Makima’s death, the Control Devil reincarnates as Nayuta, and Denji is given the opportunity to raise her in a different environment. Through him, she gets the chance to experience the kind of familial bond that Makima wanted but could never properly establish. Pochita asks Denji to give the Control Devil lots of hugs and help her form an equal relationship with someone. There’s something so meaningful about this because the answer isn’t to give the Control Devil more power or allow her to control the world. It’s to give her the affection and companionship she was never able to achieve through control. But Nayuta isn’t simply Makima brought back to life. She’s a new incarnation with her own experiences and the opportunity to grow differently, which makes the whole situation even more tragic. The possibility of happiness survives, but makima herself cannot experience it. The Control Devil gets another chance to form the relationships she always wanted, but that chance belongs to Nayuta, not Makima. To me, that’s what makes Makima’s tragedy so unique. Her story isn’t just about loneliness or the consequences of her actions. It’s about a being who longs for connection but cannot seem to reach it through the only way of relating to others that she knows. She dies without finding the equal she wanted, and the person who might have been able to learn a different way of living is born only after she’s gone. The world gets another chance to give the Control Devil a better life, but Makima never gets to live that life herself.
