Question/Advice Why does this happen with the glaze?
That you can see the pincel marks very obvious when it’s dry.

I’ve seen a content creator on TikTok/Reels make things like muffin pans using Mayco Stroke & Coat to paint designs on them. After firing, the colors turn out really vibrant and look great.
I’ve also used Stroke & Coat and experimented with it on different test tiles at different firing temperatures. From my experience, I’ve only been able to achieve those same vibrant colors when firing at low-fire temperatures.
I’m primarily familiar with high-fire clay and have some limited experience with mid-fire clay, so I don’t know much about low-fire clay. However, I’ve had a couple of pottery instructors tell me that low-fire clay is earthenware and isn’t oven-safe.
So I’m wondering, is what she’s making actually safe to use in the oven? Or is there something I’m missing? I’d love to make similar pieces, but I’m hesitant because of what my instructors have told me.
Has anyone had experience making ovenware with low-fire clay, or know whether there’s a safe way to achieve these results?

Hi there! I hope this is the right subreddit, but if not I’d appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.
I just got these at goodwill today and I’m really hoping it’s possible to paint them? I’m not trying to cover them completely in opaque paint, just like a pink hue over them. Is that possible? I’m crafty but I’ve never done anything like this before. If so, what kind of paint can I use over them?

Hi! I make cookies to fire my little fiddly ceramic work on, so the person doesn't have load a bunch of little things in and out, plus I have a pretty specific way i like them to lay as they can be prone to warping and getting stuck with glaze to one another, so it's nice to be able to do that myself, the kiln tech only moving my cookie.
Problem is - in my most recent glaze fire, I just had a cookie bloat (the broken bits looked like honeycomb candy) and fuse to everything on it... and the kiln shelf! It was a standard cone 6 clay body, no glaze - but it had been through a good handful of firings. I have noticed before a bubble here and there on some of my cookies as they age, but I didn't know it would be an issue.
I've tossed all my most-used cookies now, but now I'm scared in using any, like how do I know when this will happen?
If i made a cookie with come 10 clay, would that survive more cone 6 firings? Lol thats a silly question but I'm grasping at straws here.

Hi everyone,
I am an independent ceramicist based in Kurdistan. All of my work is hand-built/wheel-thrown and individually hand-painted with underglaze/overglaze decorative motifs (woodland scenes, deer, botanical details on aged ivory earthenware/stoneware).
am preparing my first small batch of 20–30 finished pieces to send to my niece in the UK to begin selling there. For those familiar with the UK pottery market, independent craft fairs, or Etsy UK:
Realistic pricing: What would a fair, realistic retail price be for:
The handled urn vase 35-40cm
The ceramic table lamp base with brass fittings 40-50cm
UK Market Fit: Does this traditional, illustrative English country / rustic Cotswolds style resonate well with UK interior buyers right now?
Logistics/Assembly: For potters selling lamps in the UK, do you recommend shipping wired with UK Type-G plugs, or selling the ceramic base alone with pre-drilled holes for buyers/stockists to fit their own standard B22/E27 kits?
Would really appreciate honest feedback from UK ceramicists, sellers, or collectors on what to adjust before sending the first batch over. Thank you!

Hey all! I’m the studio manager at a local arts center and I recently opened up a bisque kiln to see that 1 of our elements snapped in 2 different places. I’ve never seen this happen before, and am curious to what might have caused it. I replaced all of the elements on July 5th, so I don’t think it’s age related.
It’s a Skutt 1027-3 240volt. The only thing I can think of is that maybe one of the relays is going out? When I run diagnostics the amps are reading at 18, 15, and 10. Voltage is NOLOAD 242, FULL LOAD 227.

Hi everyone!
Just wanted to share some of my handmade vases. I've been experimenting with colored clay, organic shapes, and different textures.
Would love to hear what you think!

I made this for my ceramics class using a vintage 90s Amaco bird mold. I love it :,)

I’m pretty new to all of this so would love any advice on firing, glaze or anything etc. It’s an important gift so I’m really hopeful it will come out ok 🥺
Also I need to figure out what to do with the center. Should I make a little lid for it? Or any other ideas?
