Here's an interesting one for you all. I bought a second hand ps4 from Cex for my little brother last year. When bought, it clearly had some scuffs on it, and also was sold to me with no warranty seal on the rear of the console. I didn't think much of it at the time, assumed it was repaired at one point or another🤷‍♂️. But it very Cleary worked and had no issues with it.

Fast forward to two weeks ago, my brother asked me to sell it back to Cex so he can put the money towards a newer console.

I rocked into CEX, handed the PlayStation and was instantly refused a sale!

They apparently won't take any consoles without there warranty sticker still on it, As there is a risk, someone has modded it.

I do understand that, but i spent 20 minutes arguing that, " your shop sold this exact console to me a year ago with no sticker🤣.

I did ask, "could they no still test it" and they straight up refused!

Has anyone else had similar issues? Or is there a way I could possibly work around this?

I have bought GTX3070 from CeX. This was my first interaction with the company.

Stuck it into my PC, reinstalled windows, drivers, the usual stuff. This PC is for my simrig, and its gonna run iRacing exclusively. Loaded into a test drive, and within 1 minute the GPU shuts off. Weird, restarted the PC tried again, same thing. 3rd time, I started up HW monitor to see what's going on. Hotspot at 107°C. Which is ridiculous for iRacing.

Now, I know how to mend this. Already ordered thermal pads and PTM7950. After this, its Afterburner to see what's going on. If that doesn't fix it, Ill return it.

But it got me thinking. Your average shopper will not know how to fix this. All they will know is that they got a faulty graphics card. I'm assuming CeX sticks these into a motherboard to see if they are working. Is it that much trouble to run a stress test? It takes less than 5 min and the issue would have been spotted immediately.

My local CEX just tried to reject a working PAL N64 because they plugged it into a 60Hz monitor, and said the (official PAL Nintendo) cable wasn’t sending colour information 🙄

In the past they also rejected a PS Vita for “yellowed screen” because the standard UV filter polarised the store lights to a yellow tint.

Ive got a xbox one 1tb, and i originally traded in the controller to get a elite series 2 controller,

The E series 2 controller is the only controller for the xbox that i own

If I trade in the xbox and the controller, will i get stuffed on it being a xbox without accessories or will I get stuffed it being a xbox with a elite controller and not get the value of the elite controller ?

Edit: the whole xbox goes as discounted and pays out 40 bucks for the xbox and the controller

So here's the thing... I'm not usually one to get annoyed about things like this but I bought drakengard 2 on the ps2 online shipped to my address for $150 big ones (big nostalgia purchase for me) and received drakengard 1 🥲? AND NOW it's *maybe* out of stock online or the system thinks it is because they sent me the wrong one? I'd be great if I could just call the store and have a legit 60 second conversation with the store crew to know if they have the actual game I wanted! but cex don't have a phone line to call!! So I tried the contact us email line and sent a small email explaining the issue but ended up getting a bot ass response for the "wrong item issue" that was replied back to me? They gave me a postage label to return but still had to buy my own envelope to send back and idk man the whole thing has been so annoying and I legit just wanna know if I can get the item I paid for still but it seems like a fruitless endeavour. Anyone else had an experience like this with cex? Genuinely curious cause it's got me annoyed as hell for some reason 😂

Just bought an A grade Mac book air M4 from cex everything is fine but the only issue is battery is draining fast I use it to do basic online browsing or watch online movies but if I watch like a 3 hour movies it goes from 80 to 30% but there is no indication of a battery change in the setting or report.I have heard that MacBooks have excellent battery but that’s not the case with me.
I am worried what if the battery is not original but there’s no way to check it. It setting it’s showing battery health 100% and 13 cycles.

Does the bulk discount still apply to consoles? (Around 3)

I applied to a temp position in Cex and had an interview which I think went rlly well and a few days later while I was at a driving lesson I got a call back from them that I missed and they left a voice msg saying they would ring again tmrw.

Does this mean I got the job? Or are they calling to say I didn’t get it.

Long story short, around 3 years ago I bought a PS4 Pro console from CeX. I was happy with it, nothing to complain about.

This weekend I visited a CeX store wanting to sell the console as I haven’t been using it as much recently.

They agreed to test it and confirmed it would probably be a grade B which I was happy with.

Upon my return I was told that the warranty label is missing and that the charging port has been changed. As a result they won’t buy the console.

Now, I understand this is their policy but I never took the label off and I definitely never changed the charging port. The console is in the exact same condition as I bought it 3 years ago.

Obviously, they don’t believe they would have sold it like this and I’m now stuck with a product I cannot sell.

Any ideas about what can be done about it? I just want to get rid of it really. I already tried asking a local shop that buys/sells electronics but they said they are looking to buy PS 5s only.

I asked in cex today about iPads and whether they have a original apple battery and they said they don't differentiate what they sell based on that. Seems unfair given 3rd party batteries are poor usually and yet you don't know whether one you buying has one or not. Just pot luck!

Hi fellas! Want to trade my 2DS XL in (plus my switch) for a voucher to get a switch 2 + a game.

The issue is that the volume slider is kind of off, you have to press on it for it to really work. Idk where to get it fixed. I’m based in Ireland if it helps since IDK if CEX UK has any different criteria.

So, i have a SNES with a slight scratch to the shell and 3rd party wires/controller. What i want to know is would they take it with 3rd party wires, specifically a 3rd party power brick. Its a known brand from the SNES era and has all inputs/outputs clearly stated. (Brand NAKI). The console and all wires including controller is all in amazing working order. Thanks.

I would like to know if the reported flex cable damage that happens due to twisting of the cups is covered under cex 5 year warranty. It hasnt happened yet but I would be grateful if anyone has an answer

I have a xbox one s 500gb I tried trading it to to cex but because of some stick drift they wouldn't take it. My question is do they accept 3rd party controllers as I am only after a voucher and its around 60 pound voucher what i would receive as it would he discounted. So is it worth me buying a 20 pound 3rd part controller to then get the 60 pound voucher? Thanks all

I went to buy a B rated PC monitor today that was 28inch and £150.

When the staff member brought it up, it had a deep short scratch in the monitor and scuff marks down the sides.

I was genuinely shocked by the condition it was in. What are the chances it was damaged at that time by accident as the staff member brought it up? I didn't think they accepted damaged goods.

Assuming it does work, would they accept a much lower offer considering the damage?

Just curious.

TLDR: How is the replacement/refund system at CeX? Or, for techy folks, am I being thick and there’s a simple fix I’m missing?

Boring tech bits if that’s your thing:

I bought a Macbook Air (M2, 8gb RAM, 2022) from CeX last week and it arrived yesterday. Initially, they still had the test password and I tried to enter the usual CeX ones but the computer would go to sleep before it would say if the password worked or not.

I did the usual workaround in Startup Options and was able to bypass and change the password. Everything was fine for a bit, and I downloaded: Google Chrome, Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Illustrator). THEN it quickly started having kernel panics and shutting down while I was only using Chrome.

I rebooted it into “safe mode” and it worked for about a half of a day / a day. I was able to use Chrome, plug in my hard drive and upload quite a big file, and leave it on overnight to upload that file to Google Drive.

Then this morning it started tweaking again. Now it won’t get past the password stage (in regular mode or safe mode) without shutting down (flashing pink then white). It shuts down when I try to re-install the MacOS, when I try to run any recovery, and when I try to run First Aid.

CeX is saying to return it to them. I really need a laptop by next weekend and am (obviously) skint. Is there a fix I’m missing? it worth taking it to Apple and risking my warranty, or is it time to give up and return it? Do we reckon they’ll have a replacement?

I have some customer experience working as a waiter and I have some knowledge on certain systems but I’m wondering if there’s anything I should be researching before my first shift. It’s a 9-5 training day so I’m sure I’ll learn plenty in the day in terms of how the day runs. Just feeling a bit nervous as I’ve never worked in a game shop but I’m sure I’ll be fine!

So I was trying to get rid of my steam deck I’m just done with it, it’s had its time I’ve used it a lot but now I’m really just not interested anymore.

So, I go to my local CeX which takes me a 1hr bus journey, I do not have the original charger for my deck since it broke, but I do have a 60w switch 2 charger (btw the deck charger is 45w so it’s more than sufficient) I give the guy the deck and the charger and he’s like you need the real charger, I argue that it’s more than sufficient and basically brand new charger than works perfectly with the deck he just says I can’t give him that.

Is this my fault? Or should he have taken it?
