New rule: Please mark your post NSFW if you are posting a picture of your cat's backside. NSFW

We want to help you identify problems if we can, and we want to help you identify the sex of your cat/kitten if we can. Please do provide pictures - but also PLEASE mark your post NSFW. This obscures the thumbnail image in the feed so people don't get surprise cat butts while scrolling. It's as easy as including the text "NSFW" in your title just like I did - Reddit marks it for you when you do that.

If you come across a surprise cat butt, please report it and we will mark it NSFW. Thanks everyone. (this applies to any picture that can be disturbing, not just surprise buttholes)

She’s a rescue that I’ve had for almost 3 months. This is the first time I’ve noticed her doing anything like this. Will add a second video to the comments.

Adult cat + New kitten

Hello,
I recently got a ~5/6 week old female kitten that was being fostered by my coworker. My adult cat (~2y/o female) has been an only cat for over a year now. I got her off the street/bush outside lol. I’m worried she’s being too aggressive with the kitten. Sometimes it feels like play, like when my adult cat is also lying down and they’re “swatting” at each other. Other times she’s kinda bodying the kitten and I’m just concerned she’s being mean and just is quiet about it. My adult cat hisses when the kitten walks into her face sometimes which is understandable. She’s gotten a lot better with being blatantly angry. She was super growly at first but she’s been only hissing occasionally when she’s wanting personal space.

Cat attacks fiancee and not me

We adopted a 1 year old tabby a few weeks ago. He was scared and quiet initially, but now is very vocal and has some aggresive habits. Seemingly gone are our moments of getting him and they've been replaced by food demands and biting. The thing is, I don't rrally get this behavior. With me, 8/10 times he's calm. He doesn't really let me sleep during the night but I dont find it that big of a deal because on work days I dont need to be there until 2PM and I can recoup a few hours at a minimum in the morning.

My fiancee, however, seems to get this aggressiveness more than me, which is sad because she was the one that chose him and wanted to get a cat in the first place.

With her, she says he goes after her hands and feet, and can change attitude on a dime.

He's been sneezing, so im cautious about running him too hard with a cat toy. Vet at clinic and vet at shelter both said his breathing is fine, so it could be dust, but im unsure. He also has moments where it sounds like he's gasping hard on all fours and cant tell if he's coughing, choking or trying to push something out. I definitely try to take care of his exercise needs, and feed him accordingly so he associates the play with the reward, but its been a process due to the ailments even though no one seems to be concerned.

She's almost at her breaking point with him. I love him already, and am definitely bonded with him, but I dont know how we can proceed in this environment. Please offer help if you have it. I esnt to solve this for everyone.

My cat likes to play in the litter box. Any ideas how to stop this behavior? He doesn't do it if there is anything in the litter box, but the moment I clean it, he dives right in. He digs all around like a dog in sand and litter flies everywhere.
We have more than one litter box and I clean them both daily.

Litterboxes/aids/care for elderly cats?

Hi there. I have an elderly cat (14 yo void) who has arthritis. He's on a monthly injection and I have an appointment for him on Monday for what will be his first visit in about 6 months, since I've just noticed he's having more trouble with some things-- getting up on higher cat beds, going to the bathroom.

I was wondering if people had any recommendations for litter boxes that are good for elderly cats. He really needs something more flat and open than a traditional litter box. I was thinking of maybe using disposable litter pans but I'm not sure as I've never tried those before.

I was also looking for any general recommendations or tips for caring for an elderly cat. Tips, recommendations for items/aids, things to look out for. I love this guy and I want to ensure I keep him comfortable and cared for as he ages. Cheers.

My cat LOVES my boyfriend but pees on everything he touches. Help.

TL;DR: My brother's cat adores my boyfriend but pees exclusively on things that smell like him. I'm trying to save both her living arrangement and his remaining uncontaminated possessions.

Meet Pebbles, my brother's cat and apparently a tiny criminal mastermind. She's been living with me, is doing great, and gets better care here than she would at my parents' house. I'd really like to keep her.

There's just one problem.

She pees on EVERYTHING my boyfriend uses.

His clothes? Pee.

His blankets? Pee.

A towel he used? Believe it or not, pee.

My belongings? Perfectly safe. Everything else? Fine. She uses her litter box like a normal, law-abiding citizen.

And here's the kicker: SHE LOVES THIS MAN.

She demands pets, seeks him out for snuggles, and acts like he's the greatest thing since canned tuna. Then turns around and pees on his stuff.

He doesn't even live here! He's over a few nights a week. My home is clean, he's clean, and apparently Pebbles has decided to charge him a biological occupancy fee.

It also seems to happen around the times we're intimate, which adds a whole new level of weirdness to this situation.

She's otherwise happy and thriving. I don't want to send her back to my parents, but I also don't want my boyfriend to have to store his clothes in the dryer like it's a high-security vault.

She has a vet appointment coming up to rule out medical issues, and I'm limiting her access to his belongings.

Has anyone dealt with a cat who adores someone but exclusively pees on things carrying their scent? What helped?

Because at this point, I'm just a landlord trying to resolve a very strange domestic dispute.

how do people sleep with their cats??

• Upvotes

my baby boy, koji means the world to me and is the sweetest boy ever. i’ve had him since he was 2 months and he is still a kitten, only a year old and neutered. he is sleep trained too and sleeps whenever he knows it’s time

however he HAS to sleep right in front of my face. it’s so uncomfortable for me. his whiskers tickle my face and his nose is wet and he purrs too loud.

i lock him out of my room whenever im really tired but i always feel so bad leaving him alone. i don’t know how people do it or how to teach him to sleep like anywhere but on my face.

Cat ignoring kitten?

Hello!

We have this stray cat that had a kitten in our shed, we put up a cat bed for her and she has been nursing her kitten for the past 10 days or so. But today I heard a loud constant meowing so i went to check it out and the kitten was just waddling around meowing in distress. So i found her momma and led her to her kitten cuz usually they would soothe the kitten and nurse it. But the mom cat just stood ar the door and sniffed it for a long time and then looked at the kitten and walked away?

I am genuinely lost, my guess is that the mom cat sensed the smell of another cat and that made her not want to take care of the kitten but it also doesn't make sense, wouldn't she smell the kitten too?

teeny cat scratch :/

I was petting a stray cat outside (sweetest little thing) and when i was giving her a treat, she put her paw on my hand and gave me the littlest baby scratch that drew blood. i’m not worried enough to go to a doctor, just worried enough to ask strangers for advice. do you think it’s something i should get checked out simply because it’s a cat scratch from a stray? it’s been a few hours since it’s happened and i just can’t calm my mind down, and google told me it’s definitely going to kill me so i just had to do something haha :’)

More importantly, the cat is the cutest orange cat and i wanted desperately to bring her in the house but ive got 2 dogs and a cat already that does not get on with other cats :/ i dubbed her squirrel in honour of squirrelflight from warrior cats :>

EDIT: i just posted this and decided i was overreacting and i can’t get rid of the photo of my thumb looking just fine so pretend it’s not there; look at the cat instead😭 she had the cutest fucking patterns and i did try to let her inside for a moment (with all my animals in a room) because it’s pretty cold outside, but the dogs kept scratching on the door and miss kitty was not risking it. i put some water outside and a blanket though!

Does anyone else have a cat that's OBSESSED with these toys?

Post image

I have cat and my aunt has a cat that are obsessed with these spring toys. They play with them more than any other toy and they're the only toy we've ever seen them pick up and carry. They seem so basic, so why these ones over all fuzzy catnip mice with feathers?!?

Is my cat going to start spraying?

We just got a kitty a week ago, we were told she’s older than 6 months younger than a year. I’m almost positive she going into heat, she started lifting her butt and backing it into us when we pet or brush her and is being way more vocal than normal. We have an appointment to get her spayed in 2ish weeks but we are afraid she’s going to start spaying. Is this something we need to be worried about and is there anything we can do to try to help prevent it?

My cat keeps attacking his sister when neighborhood cat visits

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I have two kitties, an 8yo boy cat and a 6yo girl cat, who usually get along beautifully. They aren’t technically related, but I adopted them within a year of each other, and they love to sleep together, groom each other, play together, etc. However, we recently noticed that a neighborhood cat had been visiting our backyard and coming right up to our sliding glass door. Today, my cat, Inej, was watching the neighborhood cat when my other cat, Kenji, came running in and started attacking Inej. This happened again tonight, where the neighborhood cat was in our backyard, and Kenji chased Inej all through the house while she was screaming until I was able to grab him and separate them. Additionally, I’ve noticed in recent years that whenever Inej comes home from a vet visit, Kenji will act aggressively toward her (hissing, whacking) for a few hours until she smells like herself again. I’m guessing this might be related.

Does anyone have advice on how to make sure Inej is safe from Kenji should this cat continue visiting? I’m mostly worried for instances when my husband and I are away at work or traveling and can’t monitor them. Thank you in advance!

Watering eye?

So my neighbor has an outdoor cat that comes into our backyard a lot. I always give him treats and food and when I was giving him a treat today a tear(?) dropped from his eye. I looked closer and it was watering. He was otherwise fine? He wasn’t excessively blinking it or anything it just teared up.

How do i make sure my cats are happy

Them being home all day feels depressing to me. Im scared to let them outside because of coyotes, dogs, or cars but everytime they leave they always come back but it still scares me. I want to make sure they’re happy being inside.
