The system got my husband at work this morning

Look at the little mite!! My husband was working this morning and saw it unsteadily move from the shoulder down into the ditch by a foot or two.

It had a very near miss today as he was running implements, but thankfully it was very easy to spot.

But this little angel was in the middle of nowhere during near freezing temps. It’s spent the day sleeping behind him, getting stuck in his jacket, and is now asleep in his jacket on the floor. It pokes its head out once in a while to check on him and then goes back to sleep ❤️

I've always had dogs, but went with a friend to meet someone giving away kittens and this guy climbed onto my shoulder. He wouldn't let me put him down.

They were giving away three kittens, and we went there just to look and possibly take one, but all three ended up coming with us. They were all bonded with each other already and we just couldn't break them apart.

He was meowing the whole ride home, so I've named him Shadow, named for M. Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold, tiny little vocalist.

(My dog was named Zacky after Zacky Vengeance.)

Adding to the starter kit Got this orange boy showing up at my back door. Is it too late?

Long story, short: I'm in a temporary living situation and the people I'm living with told me about this little boy who's been showing up at our back door. He's sweet and friendly, and seems healthy. I want to take him in and take him with me when I move out on my own, and I've been reading up on local Humane Society locations I can take him to, but my housemates are warning me that he might be too old to be neutered and still prevent spraying. I'm also worried about what I can do with him during recovery. My housemates already have three cats and two huskies, and I'm worried over a bunch of different details about bringing him in: is this too many animals for our house, how do I keep him safe from the dogs and other cats while I'm living here, what do I do about a dedicated litter box for him when I barely have room for myself. Not to mention I feel really bad about imposing on the people I'm living with asking to bring a stray into their home.

I know no one can really advise on my living situation, but I would like some advice on what I can do with the cat. Is it actually too late to get him fixed and prevent spraying? How can I keep him safe during recovery and over the winter if I can't bring him in yet?

What to do with this affectionate cat?

I started putting a bowl of food outside my house (Appartment). I don't see which cats come to eat but this one cat is always outside and just wants to cuddle.

Naturally, I've become attached to her and feel like she might enjoy a home. However, my cat is really hostile towards her and doesn't allow her inside the house. She's also pretty happy outside and has alot of cat friends.

I thought of letting her into the house to cuddle and maybe play and letting her leave when she wants to. But my cat isn't getting to used to her and her scent and the only way to make them get used to each other is by keeping her inside the house. I would prefer for her to be able to leave, so maybe keeping her inside for 2 weeks until they get used to each other and then let her roam free. But my sister thinks she might become terretorial towards the house and not want to leave anymore. We don't want to keep her inside permanently because she seems happy outside. There are of course other considerations, like not sure if we want to commit etc.. that would make that a better option.

What should we do?

Adopted Human Madalena & Margô — the friendship that taught me about trust. 🤍🐾

I care for a cat colony, and Madalena was the very first cat to show up here. I fell in love with her almost immediately, but she wanted nothing to do with me. She wouldn’t come close, and she wouldn’t even eat the food I left out for her.

Then came Margô. 🤍

Margô was part of the colony too, and when she brought her babies here, her story became part of ours. But something beautiful happened along the way: her friendship with Madalena.

It was through Margô that Madalena slowly began to trust me. Their friendship became the bridge between her fear and the trust she eventually learned to place in me. Little by little, she started feeling safe, and she stayed.

The other cats from the colony come and go, wandering around and living their own little adventures, but these two girls are always here. They have become a constant presence in my life, and their bond is something truly special to witness. ❤️

When Margô had her kittens, I tried bringing her inside the house while I rescued and cared for the babies. Unfortunately, she couldn’t adapt to being indoors. She was extremely stressed and would attack me, so I had to accept that living inside simply wasn’t right for her. Loving a cat also means respecting who they are, even when we wish we could give them a different life.

Now, Margô’s babies are already four months old, and they are still here, waiting for their forever homes. They are available for adoption, and I truly hope each one of them will find a family to love them for the rest of their lives. 🥹🤍

And now, I have some important plans for Madalena and Margô.

I want to have both girls spayed, especially Margô, because her kittens are already four months old and she could go into heat again at any time. I want to prevent another pregnancy and protect her from having to go through another litter.

I also plan to get GPS trackers for their collars, so I can have a better idea of where they go when they wander around, and I want to have both girls microchipped in my name. They may be part of a colony, but they are also two very special girls whose safety and well-being matter deeply to me.

I can’t force Margô to become an indoor cat, and I can’t make every cat trust me overnight. But I can do my best to protect them, care for them, and make sure they have the safest and happiest lives possible.

Sometimes, we become part of an animal’s story in ways we never expected. I thought I was simply caring for a colony, but Madalena and Margô have given me something much more personal.

Margô helped Madalena trust me. And together, these two girls have found a place in my heart that will always belong to them. 🤍🐈🐈

Their story is still being written, and I hope the next chapters will bring safety, good health, and a lifetime of little moments together.

Because even when we cannot give every cat a home inside our house, we can still make sure they know they are cared for. ❤️🐾

Two little devils caught in a rare moment of calm—usually, they’re bouncing off the walls!

These two cats randomly showed up in our yard one day when they were maybe two or three months old, and they’ve been with us ever since. We still have no idea where they came from.

We didn’t adopt them—they adopted us. They walked in like they owned the place, and honestly, they’ve been running the house ever since. We’re just here to serve food and provide entertainment. 😂🐾

Sometimes I wonder if they planned the whole thing: “Let’s try this yard. The humans look easy to train.” A little meowing, a few innocent looks, and suddenly they had free meals and their own staff. Pretty good deal for two tiny troublemakers.
