Then, the team gets into [53:48] the WNBA Finals, Angel Reese's redemption arc, the Dream's arena drama, the Hawks' social media post, team merch and superstitions, and Mike Evans' Ballhalla experience, the MLB postseason and the LCS matchups, waving goodbye to the Padres and Tom DeLonge, the Yankees and 2026's Jeffrey Maier, Dua Lipa sitting next to Marlins Man, the White Sox and an all-time cold streak, and the Braves and the question of whether or not a child ALWAYS deserves a foul ball, the Savannah Bananas' championship game, the PWHL's unveiling of their temporary jerseys and potential team names, Arch Manning losing to Oklahoma, a Duck emerging from a horse butt for no reason, and an update on Cousin Ollie. And the team wraps with the USWNT and what to watch in sports this week.

Hello! It's the podcast that loves sports more than Jerry Jones loves remembering a pair of cheeks. Today, Katie and the Casualties break down the ALCS, Jose Ramirez's Game Two error, the Rays not selling out, Tropicana Field's bag-of-spaghetti policy, TBS' interview with Travis Bazzana, the NLCS and the Dodgers' decision not to bench Shohei Ohtani, Preston Mattingly re-signing his dad after Alex Cora said no, the WNBA Finals and the Atlanta Dream getting a larger arena, the Valkyries' flu outbreak, the Frozen Frenzy, Sharks-Bruins, and the NHL's attempt to make you watch 16 games at once, UCLA Football and JoJo Siwa, John Wick and Caleb Williams, and Jerry Jones telling the story of his favorite trip to Green Bay. Then, comedian Heather McMahan stops by [51:45] to talk about slutty Halloween, comedy cruises, watching LSU/Ole Miss in person, her turn against Lane Kiffin, her relationship with SEC fans and men responding to her wanting to talk sports, the incomparable experience of an SEC tailgate, chicken tenders in Tuscaloosa, describing each SEC fan base in a single word, the story of what REALLY happened at the 2025 Ryder Cup, the feeling of being cancelled by an entire sport, still wanting to love golf and how it changed her relationship with sports in general, falling in love with tennis this year, taking in the Majors, being the Dodgers' good luck charm despite being a Braves fan, and her WNBA Finals fandom. And Katie the Casualties wrap with your best e-mails and voicemails of the week.

Do live games hit better than watching a no spoiler on replay?

Im big on live feels more real. I'm an F1 fan and 2:00am is my cut off for a stay up or try and grab a nap before. If I missed a game or a race I can't bring myself to watch it !

My YouTube algorithm recommended me this today. I think this would be a great game to bring back.

Even if we eliminate the obvious ones like Taylor Swift, Hailee Steinfeld, or Madison Beer, there could still be a lot of interesting WAGs to choose from.

Take It or Leave It: SNL with Shane Gillis

Is this worth addressing on the show or is it more trouble than it’s worth? I only bring it up because the conflicting intersections here are pretty complicated and the question is interesting to me from a programming perspective.

Katie doesn’t shy away from talking about her personal life but she’s also perfectly comfortable setting boundaries on topics that may be too close to home.

The most talked-about part of the SNL episode wasn’t necessarily about sports but gym/fitness is an adjacent theme, and the infusion of misogyny makes it that much more relevant for a brief exchange amongst the Casualties.

I think that if personal relationships weren’t involved, there’s a 100% chance it would be mentioned tomorrow.

And I kinda wish they would address it, in part because Katie is one of the few voices who can handle the nuance in a conversational manner. I can practically already hear her saying “look, we can’t just pretend that gym fashion hasn’t changed in the last five or ten years, but…”

Fantasy Football question/crashout

I think this is a question that would get shit posted in other subreddits so I'll ask here.

So if my bench does better than my starting players, the points don't count? I drafted Ja'Marr Chase who had a concussion last week. Miraculously able to play (👀) but I benched him because I naively thought concussion protocol meant you at least take a game off. I mean, hell, I would!! Once you see my fantasy name I did make some points last week...but not enough.

Signed,

Don't Go Chase-ing Warrenfalls

(yes, I am an AFC North girlie)

Discussion Thread Episode 184: LeBron, Lamar, and What the NHL Learned from Xzibit | with Jay Jurden

Hello! It's the podcast that loves sports more than the president loves long snappers with a little salt and pepper. Today, Katie and the Casualties discuss Drake Maye needing to learn more conspiracy theories, Lane Johnson abruptly retiring from the NFL, the dueling narratives of Mason Miller and Max Fried's paternity leaves, and Alex Cora turning down the Phillies once again as their GM tries to replace his own dad. Then, comedian Jay Jurden joins the show [14:46] to talk about Ole Miss beating LSU and then immediately falling to Florida, how to watch college football in the middle of a gay dance club, prediction markets, Trader Joe's policies, upside-down pineapples, the Liberty's place in the New York sports hierarchy, Jalen Brunson's SNL episode, LeBron's first season in Philly, LeBron's arthritis, LeBron's toe shape, LeBron leaving Bronny, pole dancing competitions, LeBron's endorsement deals dwarfing his salary, LeBron's helicopter, the WNBA Playoffs, mascot drama, the Liberty-Dream matchup, Katie's Valkyries fandom, the Fever discourse and WNBA talk being co-opted by bad actors, President Trump hosting four Ravens players to announce a submarine yard opening, what Trump likely thinks Lamar Jackson's name is, and the NHL ditching their misguided embrace of shortform romantic audiobooks. And the team wraps with your best e-mails and voicemails for the week.

Discussion Thread Episode 183: This is Not a Deshaun Watson Redemption Story | Plus WNBA & MLB Postseason

Hello! It's the podcast that loves sports more than Steve Gelbs loves beating traffic on a school night. Today, Katie and the Casualties break down the NFL's Week Four, the Chiefs remaining undefeated and the only thing NOT going in the right direction for them being one single ankle, CBS parting ways with Tony Romo, the Patriots getting on track against the Bills, refs having three different controversies with players and coaches, Efton Chism, Athan Kaliakmanis, Colson Yankoff, and the best names of the week, Ben Johnson getting quirky, Aaron Rodgers getting angry, and a passionate discussion of just WHY would Amazon EVER consider treating Deshaun Watson's Thursday performance as some sort of redemption for his two dozen+ counts of sexual misconduct and lack of accountability since. Then, [52:50] Katie and the team get into baseball's postseason, the NLDS and two incredible finishes to start Brewers-Padres, the bad luck of hitting a game-winning home run off the roof, AJ Pierzynski and a historically bad choice of words, Mason Miller's blown save in game two, the Dodgers 100-degree Game One win and the Braves' bullpen pulling it even in Game Two, the multiple travesties of the Dodgers' "Colossal Burger", Austin Wells' ALDS gaffe, the hot streak of the White Sox, the Aces bouncing the Fever from the WNBA Playoffs, the Valkyries knocking off the Wings, Natalie Nakase's health scare, Liberty-Dream Game One, the Valkyries dominating the Aces on the boards, a look at Colorado Football's incredible weekend trainwreck against Texas Tech, the "Bails of the Week", an explanation of the Dylan Larkin saga with the Detroit Red Wings, and Jack Hughes outlawing comedy. Then Chris wraps with What to Watch this week across the world of sports.

Discussion Thread Episode 182: Lynx Upset, Man City Guilty, and Sonny Gray Explains How Snowballs Work

Hello! It's the podcast that loves sports more than 90's kids love the Darkwing Duck theme. Today, Katie and the Casualties break down the NASCAR Swear Jar, the Minnesota Lynx getting bounced from the WNBA Postseason by the Liberty and Cheryl Reeve's postgame quotes, A'Ja Wilson's encounter with a fan in Indiana and the media response due to the Sophie Cunningham of it all, the Astros losing to the White Sox in Houston, AJ Blubaugh making history in #69, Astros fans booing their own team, and an explanation of Katie's sordid history with Astros fans, the Bruins and Rangers opening the NHL season at the same time as Red Sox-Yankees, the San Jose Sharks moving on from their AI goal song for 2027 and possible alternatives, hockey's embrace of romantic fiction in marketing, Alix Earle's embrace of no books at all, and Alix's place at the center of the Peak Drama in the NFL this weekend. Then, [55:48] the team gets into a deep dive on the drama surrounding Manchester City and what may be the greatest instance of fraud in the history of sports, what they did, how they did it, what $1.1 billion worth of sports fraud looks like, the reactions, the potential punishments, and just what it could mean for the rest of the Premier League, plus Sonny Gray on how snowballs work, LeBron James and how many wins are worth leaving his family, LeBron James on commuting daily via helicopter, the Kings reporters on Ben Simmons and where he ranks among Chris' least favorite Australians, Texas A&M's end zone, Atlanta's new NWSL team, and the new cast of Love is Blind. And Katie and the Casualties wrap with the best of your e-mails and voicemails from the week. Paramount+ is your home to gridiron action all season long. It was one of the absolute wildest endings to a championship game I have ever seen. If you have the ability to go find a recording of the game just go watch the 4th period... hell just watch the last 11 minutes. Unbelievably awesome game.

I'm sure Chris's jaw was on the floor.
