“We wanted to have a deeper connection with our city” by removing it from our name.

I don’t think I could have been more disappointed.

I don’t like it but I do hate it

I like the name “Springbirds” for a Springfield based Cards affiliate, but NOT the “Ozark Springbirds”. And jeez these logos are rough.

Looks like straight up AI generated

u/GregMilkedJack 7d ago

The Ozarks Springbirds? This is a joke, right?

27

u/Standard-Cat-2054 8d ago

I’m fine with the Ozarks part, I think it makes sense, they draw fans from the whole region. But Springbirds is a silly name.

6

u/SGFCardenales 8d ago

I agree. And Ned Reynolds calling them that isn’t a selling point for me. I couldn’t care less about whatever 2¢ he had to add to anything.

2

u/k2718 7d ago

I'm okay with silly but it isn't fun silly.

3

u/PrincessDeMissouri 8d ago

I for one think Highlanders is a perfect name.

1

u/k2718 7d ago

Oooooo, that's good. Too bad it won't happen

6

u/urnialbologna 7d ago

I will forever call them the Springfield Cardinals. Because that's who they are and where they play. That would be like renaming the St. Louis Cardinals the Missouri Cardinals. Now that would be fucking stupid.

Not completely terrible, but Ozark instead of Ozarks would have been a million times better

34

u/mrbmi513 8d ago

Ozark is a city that's not Springfield.

26

u/Medical-Active-8312 8d ago

Oh I know. Just sounds weird saying it with it being double plural

12

u/pigeyejackson66 8d ago

It does not roll off the tongue

u/PrincessDeMissouri 8d ago

Ozark Mountain Springbirds

4

u/kpresnell45 8d ago

Ozark use to have the Ozark Mountain Ducks.

6

u/edsmith726 I miss So Taguchi 8d ago

I hope the mascot was a duck named Jackie Blue.

1

u/kpresnell45 8d ago

It was Homer The Duck.

1

u/Aksundawg 7d ago

<nods in Daredevil>

3

u/BaronvonJobi 7d ago

They could have been the Ozark Hellbenders!

2

u/Connect_Orange7140 8d ago

Because they were in…checks notes…Ozark

1

u/kpresnell45 8d ago

I know I was agreeing with.

7

u/Specific-Fix949 8d ago

The cardinal on the shield looks like it's judging all my life choices at once.

5

u/DiplomaticDribbler 8d ago

Ozark Valley instead of Ozarks? Idk maybe just one of those things you gotta say a bunch to get used to.

3

u/SGFCardenales 8d ago

Ozark is the name of a town in the area.

-6

u/camera-operator334 8d ago

Literally doesn’t matter?

2

u/Bright-Lion 8d ago

That would be wrong. They’re in the Ozarks (region) but not in Ozark (city). Also they should have been the Birds-on-the-Bat

11

u/atari2600forever 8d ago

I knew it would be worse, and I was not wrong.

8

u/MFOOZhq 8d ago

Just awful.

4

u/missourifan_81 7d ago

First off, as someone who grew up in the Springfield area and even worked "ran" the Team Store at Hammons Field for the first 5 seasons, the name is terrible. As a graphic artist of whom Dan Simon of Studio Simon (who'd designed many MiLB logos including Memphis and who most certainly did this) is one of my biggest influences, the logos are amazing. Again, terrible name, great logos.

7

u/Standard-Cat-2054 8d ago

My 95 year old mom just had an idea. Call them the Songbirds and the team sings as they walk out on the field.

3

u/liburIL 8d ago

The S made of feathers is pretty cool.

3

u/OKARMO 7d ago

Awful

3

u/Sad-Signature-5491 7d ago

I’m really disappointed ☹️. Looks like a gas station chicken 🐓 advertisement

10

u/snorlaxatives_69 F The Cubs&Royals 8d ago edited 8d ago

The main logo is Not Good. The green really throws it off. The Feather S looks like the Spokane Indians. The rest is meh whatever. Not a fan and it'll be a loooooong time before I consider buying any of this merch.

EDIT to add: The buff bird logo is cool but again it's just reminding me of the Memphis Redbirds mascot, Rocky.

3

u/guardontheright 8d ago

This is exactly how I feel.

2

u/SGFCardenales 8d ago

5

u/snorlaxatives_69 F The Cubs&Royals 8d ago

Yes it is and I'm sticking by my opinion

5

u/pavelowescobar 8d ago

Rolls right off the tongue.

5

u/Defiant-Good-6206 8d ago

What a fuckin' pointless snoozefest

7

u/SomethingAvid 8d ago

It doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, but I'm still gonna buy a hat.

3

u/NinjaChemist 8d ago

Truly an awful decision

4

u/Roland3lc 8d ago

I hate it.
I would much rather call them the “Cardinals of the Ozarks”

2

u/str8dazzlin 8d ago

I like the alternate logos. Everything else is decent/okay.

3

u/camera-operator334 8d ago

Looks like AI slop

0

u/str8dazzlin 7d ago

It wasn't made using ai. A lot of minor league branding looks similar.

1

u/camera-operator334 7d ago

I said looks like.

Also one of those logos is 100% gen ai

2

u/Vintagent Go team 8d ago

I cant not think “Springboards” or “Songbirds” every time i read the name or see the logo.

3

u/sblack87 7d ago

Genuinely horrid. Fire the marketing folks.

-3

u/SGFCardenales 7d ago

My submitted suggestion. I still think it’s a better idea

10

u/quietude38 7d ago

Looks like AI slop to me.

-9

u/SGFCardenales 7d ago

Mine? The logo. Yes. But the idea is mine. I just am not a commercial artist. See? That’s what AI is for, children. Now drink your Brawndo

10

u/shiftbeers 7d ago

It’s an equally bad logo and idea.

0

u/FlyfreshCustoms ⚾️🍻 3d ago

Hellbenders? What are you, 5?

1

u/sblack87 3d ago

It’s the name of a lizard native to the area… you don’t know? Are you 5? lol 🤦‍♂️

1

u/FlyfreshCustoms ⚾️🍻 3d ago

Sounds dumb as hell

1

u/shapu I saw Mulder's homer 8d ago

The feather S is a nice logo,  tbf

1

u/ABobby077 7d ago

What is a "springbird"???

1

u/Nolesbl 5d ago

The Birdzarks.

1

u/HoldMyWong Reckless Optimist 7d ago

I like it. It’s a AA team, they all have silly names

1

u/Ivotedforher 8d ago

Too busy and yet still boring.

I will still buy a hat.

0

u/MissouriOzarker 8d ago

I’m biased, but I like it. The Ozarks needs its own team. I definitely need some gear.

2

u/snorlaxatives_69 F The Cubs&Royals 8d ago

The Ozarks region technically has two teams. Springfield and NW Arkansas Naturals

1

u/MissouriOzarker 8d ago

True, but this is a team with “Ozarks” right there in the name. I’m a fan of non-lakes named after my beloved home region.

0

u/oatmealfight 8d ago

Is the "x" logo inside the "o" a nod to the Netflix show? Or was that an artifact already?

Feels already dated to have a brand tied to a Netflix show if so

3

u/oatmealfight 8d ago

I was thinking of this thing. Forgot it was more of a + than an x.

0

u/2XX2010 7d ago

When will this era of team logo art die?!

1

u/SGFCardenales 7d ago

6 months is my guess. If not sooner. This is so universally hated, I assume it will die the death it deserves

1

u/missourifan_81 7d ago

It's minor league baseball. It's how they attract fans and sell merchandise. They have no control over the players and the best ones aren't around for very long.

0

u/2XX2010 7d ago

I’m talking about the artwork. I have no complaints about our farm system. But this style of artwork is just so played out

-1

u/camera-operator334 8d ago

Netflix is going to straight up sue lol

-2

u/Hairy_Garage4308 8d ago

Bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch...

-4

u/Skatchbro 8d ago

What the hell is wrong with The Springfield Isotopes? I mean, it was right there.

6

u/Standard-Cat-2054 8d ago

Albuquerque already has a minor league team called the Isotopes. They’ve been called that since 2003.

1

u/Skatchbro 8d ago

Shocker. I guess I didn’t read my t-shirt from there.

I was going for the Simpsons’ joke.

4

u/bluenote95 8d ago

The Albuquerque team is the Simpsons’ joke. The team gets relocated to Albuquerque in the episode.

0

u/Skatchbro 8d ago

To be technically correct, the best kind of correct, the team does not actually get relocated.
