Hello everyone!

Just giving an update on something that may be fairly obvious at this point.

New rules were implemented some months ago in an effort to make the sub friendlier for those seeking calls. I kindly ask that all calls include the required information in rule 4, solely to be transparent to potential applicants. If a rule doesn’t apply to your request, please state that. Posts missing that information will be deleted, but can be reposted with the corrected content.

If you’ve had a bad experience with a call listed here, please report it to me with any relevant information.

Let me know if there are any flairs, rules, etc. that you’d like added, or if you have questions.

Thanks for reading!

Open Call: Publisher Open Submissions for TWO different Zine Themes!

I am looking for artists and creatives of all kinds to contribute to two upcoming collaborative zines through The Khaotic Good™. I am looking to create a collage, collaborative type of zine, to introduce different creators, and all the different ways we can speak to the same themes, within different forms of art.
I am seeking: Photographers. Painters. Illustrators. Collage artists. Mixed-media artists. Digital artists. Poets. Storytellers. People who make strange little things just because they need to exist.

These zines are meant to be a collection of different creative voices, mediums, textures, and perspectives brought together on the same pages.

✦ STRANGE LITTLE THINGS (7/12 Slots Open)

For the oddities, the tiny details you notice that nobody else seems to. Peculiar objects. Unusual fixations. Strange creatures. Little rituals. Weird thoughts. Fleeting moments. Things that are difficult to explain but impossible not to love.

If it's peculiar, whimsical, unsettling, oddly beautiful, or just strange it belongs here.

✦ AFTER MIDNIGHT (8/15 Slots Open)

For the things that exist after the world gets quiet. Late-night thoughts. Dreams. Desire. Loneliness. Secrets. Insomnia. Moonlight. Night drives. Empty streets. Memories that surface when you're supposed to be sleeping. The version of yourself that only seems to appear when everyone else is gone.

Poetry, photography, visual art, prose, fragments, experimental work, whatever the theme brings out of you.

If you make things, notice things, feel things, or have something strange sitting in your camera roll, sketchbook, notebook, or hard drive...I want to see it!

Submission Deadlines: There is no official deadline. There is a specific number of open slots for each theme. I will be individually going through each submission and choosing the best ones to fill the open slots. Once slots are filled, submissions will be closed down, acceptance letters will be emailed and production will begin.

Compensation: Currently there will be no fee to submit, as well as no payment for acceptance or contribution at this time.

Rights requested: All rights and Guidelines can be found here

  • Willing to sit in ambiguity rather than resolve it; exploring the gaps/uncertainties in humanity and our relationships

  • Flash Fiction: up to 1,000 words
  • Creative Nonfiction/Essays: up to 3,000 words

All rights revert to the author after publication; you are free to submit the published work elsewhere or republish it. Interstice Journal does not accept previously published work, including works published on personal blogs and social media sites. After publication, we may keep your work archived on our platform indefinitely. We may also use your work for promotional purposes during and after publication, with proper credit given.

Open Call: Publisher Unpaid submissions call for new sci-fi/horror/weird short story magazine

Hi everyone.

I'm launching an online short story magazine called Corp/se for unsettling speculative fiction, particularly things that straddle the gothic and science fiction (flash to 10k words).

I have put pictures and quotes on the Corps/e homepage that I hope show the kind of vibe I'm going for.

I'm particularly interested in experimental or transgressive elements, whether in plot, style, or structure. I wanted to create a place where, as long as you can defend your artistic choices, you don't have to censor yourself.

I'm afraid this is an UNPAID gig. I have no funds so it's purely a passion project my end, so please only submit if you're okay it being purely that on your end too.

There is no deadline as such; I will close submissions when they hit 200. Right now I'm under 100, after around three weeks. I aim for Issue 1 to include around ten stories.

Submissions will be read blind and anonymously. I have set up a database that keeps the stories separate from author names and emails (until I've read and judged the stories, and need to contact their authors).

Rights requested: first rights and one month exclusivity. You will be credited as author, you will keep copyright, and you can do what you like after the month.

Here is the magazine: corpsemag.com

Thank you for reading!

Open Call: Publisher November Spotlight

* Organization: The Big Fing C*

* Deadline: Opens on the 1st of every month until Tally receives 20 submissions

* Entry fee: None

* Prize/s: Feature for 1 month on the home page and then moved to the blog.

* Link to submission page/official rules: https://thebigfingc.wordpress.com/about-2/

* Other information:

  • 1 in 20 wins the spotlight
  • 19 in 20 get light structural editing for their piece to improve their craft
  • Flash fiction/prose/poetry up to 1000 words
  • Science fiction, fantasy, horror
  • Transgressive, counterculture, political very welcome
  • Subversion celebrated
  • Seeking marginalized voices: neurodivergent, ethnic, queer, religious
  • Must be in .txt file
  • No generic, boilerplate soulless rejections
  • No money exchanging hands
  • Full submission guidelines on the website

The form is set to stop accepting after 20 submissions to protect my time and ensure quality feedback.

My background is as a professional editor and graphic designer. I am from marginalised communities. My beef is with the current publishing industry where fees are taken and generic rejections are handed out so thick I could butter several dozen loaves of bread with them. I'd love to give emerging, marginalized authors the chances I never had.

Open Call: Publisher Want a shout out in my zine? Answer me this question one.

What's a movie you watch when you want creative inspiration?

tl;dr see above

I'm collecting answers for my October issue of Inner View. In it, I pose questions as creative prompts for any medium. They're done in the form of articles or interviews, like this one.

My goal is to have about 12 different people share their favorite movie that gets them excited to make art. Explanations preferred; up to 100 words will be published.

What you get is a free copy mailed to you, a shout out to your zine, hustle, or just provide an imaginary title, like Tabitha, Heir to the Trilestas. You can now download my first five issues on my Patreon to get a vibe.

Inner View zine is for creatives and the creative curious. It's full-color 20-page 8.5x11. It's rad.

Hey everyone,

My name's Jon and I'm guest editing for issue number three of a cool print mag called TRU DAT. No pay, but no submission fees either and what I'm looking for is pretty simple:

  • Send all submissions to [ministerofsaturnalia@gmail.com](mailto:ministerofsaturnalia@gmail.com)
  • Up to 3 poems and/or up to 1,600 words of prose (one long piece or several micros are both cool)
  • Submitting to multiple categories is allowed and encouraged
  • Simultaneous is fine, but I’ll be pretty quick! Just give me a head’s up if you’re accepted elsewhere before I get back to you.
  • No bios, but we’ll go nuts plugging your projects (or your CashApp) on Twitter if you’re accepted
  • You’ll hear from me within a few weeks max, but probably within a few days since I’m unemployed.

Open Call: Publisher ISSUE 1 of MeowingMouse Magazine Accepting Submissions: No Entry Fee, No Theme.

Summary: MeowingMouse is a new literary magazine designed to cultivate a creative outlet for people who don't yet get to work in creative fields full-time (although we still welcome work from creative working professionals with open arms). Named after the vocal cat in the picture, MeowingMouse is accepting submissions for its very first issue! No entry fee, no theme.

Deadline: 10/01/2026.

Compensation: This is our very first issue, so we unfortunately do not yet have the funds to offer compensation to our published contributors at this time.

Rights requested: Simultaneous submissions are eligible, and work that has already been published is eligible, for publication. Please let us know if, when, and where your entry has already been published elsewhere first.
