Question Yearly Cycle
I’m out the loop a lil bit.
Weren’t they going to stop the yearly cycle around BO6 or something? What happened to that?
I honestly feel like BO7 woulda been great with another year of support, granted I just started playing a month ago.
But i do know that interest for MW4 is really low and that with GTA6 coming a month afterwards, all the youtubers and the hype will be shifted to that. With YouTube being COD’s main marketing machine, I feel like MW4 is destined to struggle. And on christmas this year, all the kids will be asking for GTA6 instead of the latest COD slop.
BO7 woulda been in a good spot to have another year of support. There is still potential and with it being considered one of the best Zombies experiences since BO3, the Black Ops Title, and a lot more, it could still have a decent lifespan.

They're gonna keep doing it as long as they know people will keep dropping $70+ a year on them.
Seriously it's basically a membership at this point, the game barely changes year over year it's basically a new setting

That’s my thing. I’m not too sure people will really drop that 70 again. Even the content creators since there will be more incentive to post GTA 6 content. More incentive being more content from the game and more interest/revenue on the videos

Same, i would have loved bo7 year 2 but we kind of got that from bo6 already. Almost everyone skipped bo7 because they want something new not a mw or black ops and yet mw4 releases in a week

Not releasing cod every year has never been on the table. Mw4 may struggle in terms of cod performance but will still be massively profitable and one of the best selling games of the year just like bo7 struggled in terms of cod performance but was one of the best selling games of the year. As long as cod can do that they will release it every year otherwise they would be throwing away money. As far as activision or really any business is concerned providing a second year of support that will not significantly effect the sales of the game is also burning money

I understand the part about the second year of support. But i feel like the little interest/hype for MW4 combined with a huge competitor like GTA right after will affect them more this time around

Activision mislead what actually meant no yearly cycles for same subfranchise , so no Black ops back to back

When was it ever black ops back to back? Or mw back to back either? Maybe the recent mw2 and mw3? I’m out the loop

Bo6 and bo7 and MW as well as you said , they did state no more back to back but this what they meant not no more yearly cycles

They aren’t stopping the yearly cycle, they said they would no longer release back to back sub series like BO6 into BO7 or MWII into MWIII. Kinda the way they used to do it, BO one year then MW the next and repeat (I’m only using those games as examples, not saying there going to stay with the BO and MW series but they won’t release the sub series back to back again)

As long as people are buying each instalment and caving into the cod mtx store, nothing will ever change. The yearly cycle will never end.

No it was mw2 2022, YTers and big time news publishers like IGN for example started this rumor cod was gonna ditch a yearly cycle for the 20th anniversary and sell a 2nd year of MW2, which was like an add on that consisted of all the 2009 launch maps that were absent from the Campaign remaster and an add on to the campaign which was a short add on of a couple missions. Then MW2 was met with mixed reviews, Activision comes out with IW and expresses they never once said that, which in fact was true!!! Then every single YTer who lied about it now lied even harder and defended them too saying we never said that even though they did! Bo7s promotion argued that Activision was done doing annual titles of that same franchise like 2 years of MW then 2 years of Blops

Yeah they really need to stop the yearly cycle when the games aren’t getting much different
