I missed GitKraken's graph and conflict screen, so I brought them into a git TUI: gitoui

I live in the terminal, but every time I had a nasty rebase or a conflict, I'd open a GUI. So I forked serie, a Rust project which draws the commit graph as real images in the terminal. Then I kept adding what I was missing until I stopped leaving. Serie is open source under MIT license and my project also.

It's called gitoui. Say "oui" to it, tell me what's missing, or build it with me!

What it does:

- The commit graph drawn as images (Kitty graphics, iTerm2 or Sixel), with a text fallback for other terminals

- Interactive rebase as a list you edit in place: move commits, reword, squash, fixup, drop

- A 3-way conflict editor: ours, theirs or both, per hunk

- Diffs with hunk staging, blame, file history

- GitHub pull requests and issues: read, comment, approve or request changes, merge

- And many more things you have to discover by using it 👀

Similar tools: lazygit, gitui and tig in the terminal, serie (the graph viewer I forked), and GitKraken on the GUI side (no affiliation). What's different in gitoui: the graph is drawn as images rather than text characters, and the GitHub side lives inside the TUI.

AI was used to help during the development of this project. I've been building it since May and I use it every day.

Repo: https://github.com/NayJi7/gitoui (MIT, Rust, Ratatui)

Website: https://nayji7.github.io/gitoui/ (documentation & informations)

One last question: what's the one git task that still sends you back to a GUI?

Skyland — a Hyprland-inspired tiling window manager for macOS

I've been working on Skyland, a Hyprland-inspired desktop experience for macOS.

It's a fork of AeroSpace — huge thanks to nikitabobko for the foundation

The goal was to bring that Linux tiling WM feeling to my Mac, including animations, workspace transitions, groups, dynamic theming, and a cyberpunk HUD.

Projects

What's in the video?

  • Dwindle layout with smart split (the split direction follows the cursor) and togglesplit
  • Bezier animations — windows pop in, shrink and fade on close, and workspaces use slidefadevert transitions
  • Window groups with a tabs bar, similar to Hyprland's grouping workflow
  • Master layout per workspace, with the master window centered on ultrawide screens
  • Rounded corners, active/inactive opacity, and a gradient border around the focused window
  • 18 themes from 43PR, plus wallpaper-generated colors using Matugen; light or dark mode is selected based on wallpaper brightness
  • Cyberdeck HUD — a translucent, eye-implant-inspired app launcher and a unified messages panel for macOS notifications and script messages
  • Claude Code integration — a Hermes plugin notifies me when an agent finishes or needs input
  • Workspace overview with live thumbnails and drag-and-drop between workspaces
  • Shortcut cheat sheet and a settings window that edits the TOML configuration while preserving comments

I'm sharing this because I wanted a more Hyprland-like workflow on macOS, and figured others might enjoy it too.

I'd love to hear your feedback, suggestions, and ideas for what to improve next!

I built a terminal Markdown writer where mouse and keyboard both work. Could you test one draft?

I'm the maintainer of writui. I spend a lot of time in a terminal, but wanted a quieter place for prose than my code editor. writui gives me one writing column, Markdown formatting as I type, mouse and keyboard controls, automatic saving, and named versions. Posts stay in a password-encrypted file on my computer. It's free, open source, and MIT licensed.

The part I can't test alone is whether a first session makes sense to someone who didn't build it. If you write notes or drafts in a terminal, would you try one short session: write a paragraph, save a version, quit, and reopen it?

The illustrated five-minute guide: https://writui.com/blog/try-a-five-minute-writing-session/

What slowed you down? If you decided not to try it, what stopped you? A reply here is enough; there's no need to share your writing.

Prebuilt for macOS and Linux; Windows can build from source. Source and installation options: https://github.com/aakashns/writui

CLI - Terminal Text Editing

I have seen references to Emacs, Nano and VIM. For those with a level of proficiency that exceeds ‘intermediate,’ what is your preferred CL text editor, and what is the reason why you prefer said editor over that of others?

Hey everyone! 👋

I created cleaner-cli, a simple, fast, and developer-friendly CLI tool built in Rust to find and clean up heavy build artifacts like node_modules, target, .cache, dist, and more to free up storage space.

✨ Features

  • Safe by default: Runs in Dry-Run mode to show what will be deleted before taking action.
  • Fast & Lightweight: Built with Rust for maximum performance.
  • Customizable: Easily configurable targets and scan paths.

🚀 Check it out

I would love to hear your feedback, feature requests, or contributions! Feel free to star the repo if you find it useful.

The most powerful tool on your Mac shouldn't feel like a minefield.

Kompass explains every command before it runs, stops the dangerous ones and understands plain English. Made for people who are afraid of the terminal – and for pros who want to move faster.

Backend dev just starting with CLI apps: where should I begin and what do I absolutely need to know?

Hi! I’m mostly a backend programmer and I’m just getting into terminal applications. I was intrigued by how programs like nano, vim or htop have a full-screen “interface” inside the terminal.

I’m going to use C, since it’s the language we use at my university. I’d like to move to Rust later on, but for now it’s C.

My questions:

  1. What concepts do I absolutely need to know before starting? Do I need to use a library? If so, which one?
  2. Why aren’t there many more CLI/TUI applications? They seem lightweight, fast and easy to distribute, but most new tools are still web or desktop apps. Is it a matter of users, difficulty, or something else?

Thanks!

libark

libark is a modern, secure, Swift-native foundational layer over Linux POSIX primitives.

While originally developed as the core runtime layer for ArkOS, libark is completely decoupled and designed to be used on any Linux distribution. It provides highly secure, object-oriented abstractions over low-level system calls, memory management, and file system interactions, without the burden of manual C interoperability.

Features

  • Object-Oriented POSIX: Wraps file descriptors, paths, and directory operations in safe, RAII-compliant Swift types.
  • Secure Syscall Boundary: Routes kernel interactions through strict, audited Syscall primitives.
  • Terminal Capabilities: Built-in abstractions for TTY detection and window sizing.
  • Advanced Formatting: Standardized formatters for human-readable byte sizes (SI and IEC), ISO 8601 timestamps, permissions, and classifications.
  • Declarative Sorting: Powerful generic SortEngine for metadata sorting across multiple criteria.

Four glass levels (Clear, Frosted, Tinted, Solid), automatic light/dark, the macOS accent colors, and a high-contrast option. Every color is contrast-checked for readability over translucent windows. brew install vukkt/tap/iglass && iglass install. Free and MIT. Feedback welcome!
