I hate how the Brewers have made me root for the Dodgers the last couple of years.

Dodgers all day and it's not even close. Brewers fans are already smug without ever having won a World Series, they'd get so much worse
30
u/GrandpaDongs Old Man Dongs 6d ago
They're all just clinging to the Brewers because they know the Packers suck ass this year
5
u/unexpectedhalfrican #FlyTheW 5d ago
Yeah as much as I hate the Dodgers for ruining baseball, Brewers fans would be fucking insufferable if they won, and they're already insufferable as it is now. I'm pulling for the AL. Any one of those teams winning it all would be the best outcome.
2
u/TonightSheComes 6d ago
One of the funniest things I ever read on their sub was a guy criticizing Counsell for leaving claiming that he could have been a Brewers legend if he had stayed a few more years.

3
u/CyanideChris 6d ago
I'm putting money on the Brewers to win it all as an emotional hedge. I want them to lose so bad, but if they win it all it'll at least numb the pain

I’m rooting for the White Sox. I’ll root for a Chicago team before I ever root for the Dodgers or ugh the Brewers.

u/RD2_ElectricBoogaloo Chicago Cubs 6d ago
Best case scenario, Brewers get swept and the asteroid hits soon after.
9
u/Sandman4501 6d ago
I’m more of a white Sox fan, but absolutely would never root against Chicago.
My son loves the cubs. He gets me cubs stuff, I buy him Sox stuff. It’s great.
But Brewers holding the L flag last year made this an easy decision, classless. Hope dodgers crush.
I’m imagining a dodgers/TB series. Hoping Sox pull this off.
In all honesty, I just want that Cross Town World Series. I’d love it. Recommend the book When Chicago Ruler Baseball about the 1906 World Series.

The world series to end all world series tbh 😂

u/packer15094 6d ago
Remember guys, calling the Brewers stadium "North Wrigley." And flying a bunch of L flags for decades whenever the Clubs win is not classless. It only is, when they do it back to us.

Fuck the Dodgers and their deferred salary BS that is going to lead to another lock out. I'm old enough to still feel like Brewers are an AL team, and they aren't the Packers. I'll take Brewers over Dodgers without a second thought.

u/JABjitsu #FlyTheW 6d ago
As a lifelong Cubs fan who grew up in St. Pete, I am fine with the Rays winning it all, especially with the added bonus that they would beat the Dodgers or Brewers to get it done.

Idk why I’m supposed to hate the Dodgers. Cubs could spend more of their billionaire owners money to compete with them. Could they get everyone they got? No. But they could still try and spend more

the first rule of billionaires:
they never ever spend their own money
they'll either borrow or just steal or just not pay.

1) Rays
2) Dodgers

I keep hearing stuff about supporting the Sox. Only people who say that are people who don't have friends that are Sox fans. They were literally insufferable from 2005 until 2016 and even up until now, they talk more about the Cubs not being there. So fuck the Sox.

I haven’t heard that at all in my Sox friends. The Sox fans I know realize they’re lucky they got Houston and not a team as hot SD or as deep as the Yankees in the WC round.

u/MonicaLewinskibidis 6d ago
It's social media banter. When your frame of reference is ChiSoxFanMike, yeah Sox fans are insufferable.

Maybe it's because I'm an old man, but my experience has been the exact opposite. Sox fans have been great, most dont really care about the Cubs this season and none said a word when the Cubs got bounced. I expect some good natured crap after the Sox get bounced, but so far it's been all about them and not at all about the Cubs.
5
u/Subject_Topic7888 6d ago
i love baseball and as a kid i watched both teams. the sox were fun to watch and ive always loved the cubbies. been to old comisky a few times in my life and been to wrigley hundreds. im rooting for MY CITY. A trophy in Chicago is a trophy in Chicago. so i am rooting for the sox.
5
u/DoctorDongus 6d ago
Every Sox fan I know is the most insufferable person to exist. My entire family was Sox fans growing up, and I hated the way they all acted towards the Cubs especially - so I've been a Cubs fan ever since
3
u/NUMBNUTZ42069 Lester 6d ago
Im the only Cubs fan in my family. Im not actevley rooting for the Sox but ill be happy for them if they win.
3
u/Evil_ryry BUSCHHHHHHH 6d ago
If it came down to that I’d rather support the city of Chicago and the Sox over the Dodgers/Brewers, but I still wouldn’t love it. I don’t think they have the firepower to beat either NL team, but in playoff baseball anything can happen. I think the Rays have the best shot of taking either NL team down in the WS.
3
u/HawksRule20 Chicago Cubs 6d ago
I share your experience with my Sox fan friends. They definitely aren’t assholes, honestly some of the nicer people I know but when it came to sports shit talk? Man they HATE the cubs

Idgaf I’m rooting for Milwaukee. I typically wouldn’t, but I’m so fucking tired of the dodgers, and as a baseball fan you just have to respect the Brewers org and the team they’ve built on the budget they have. It would suck as a rival, but the Brewers (or Tampa/Cleveland) winning the WS would be good for baseball.

It’s hard for me to hate the Brewers. I like Wisconsin and they’ve been so bad for so long. Hating the Dodgers, though? Easy peasy.

Other than my jealousy about how they can spend an obscene amount of money, I actually find the dodgers team in general hard to hate. Dave Roberts is a class act and Shohei and Freddie Freeman are easy to root for. Dodgers all the way for me.

Dodgers all the way in the NLCS, then Tampa to beat whoever comes out of the other series although I would live with the Sox. The Guardians storyline is old and boring, and that pitching management (by both teams, really) is going to bite both of these teams in the ass big-time.

I'm rooting for the Rays-Dodgers World Series, rematch of the COVID series, and I hope the Rays pull the Super Bowl LIX Eagles script and completely destroy the Dodgers chances at threepeat.

I don’t know what it is with all the Cubs fans who despise the Brewers. I’m a die hard Brewers fan who was cheering for the Cubs during the 2016 World Series. Now I’m disappointed. I’m not sure many Cubs fans appreciate baseball. In fact, we have so many Illinois season ticket holders in our section that say the same thing. Come on now, can’t you say some nice things about the Brewers now that the Cubs are out of the playoffs? Or are Cubs fans generally a bunch of beer loving fair weather yuppie fans who like to complain.?

Nope. Cheering for the Brewers, and will enjoy watching the financial house of cards that is the Dodgers fall apart (again).
We are going to have a protracted lockout because of the Dodgers last thing I want for them is to get another trophy. .

This is funny, but it's crystal clear that everyone should be pulling for the Dodgers to win. Another sweep would be hilarious. wisconsin sports and their fans deserve absolutely nothing.

u/GrizzlyAdam12 6d ago
I literally have no idea what’s going on in the playoffs right now. It would take me less than 30 seconds to figure out, but I can’t be bothered to do it.
No cubs = complete lack of motivation to care about MLB.

u/cbuscubman 5d ago
I watch all of the playoffs even if we aren't in it. I can't be a Cubs fan if I'm not a fan of the game itself.

u/_877-CASH-NOW_ 2d ago
Playoff baseball is so electric. The energy can’t be matched in what can otherwise be a bit of a boring and slow moving sport. I love it even if the cubs aren’t in it

As a cubs fan, ive been ok with the Dodgers winning. Teams need to not be cheap. There's only 1 or 2 team owners who aren't outright billionaires. The rest of them can put more money into player contracts of they chose to. The problem only lies with players that want to be in bigger markets. Offer the best contract and you might have a chance at top players that are going strictly for the money.
