There are many signs that say food and drinks are not allowed in the library. Yet, I always see a lot of people eating in the upper floors.
Can we actually take food and no one will say something?

I’m graduating soon from Baruch with a BBA in CIS, concentration in Cybersecurity and a minor in Computer Science. I’m seriously considering CCNY for the Cybersecurity graduate program and wanted to hear from people who’ve been through it.

My main concern is the difficulty of the courses. Since my degree is a BBA and not a straight CS degree, I’m worried I might not have the same technical foundation as students coming from CS or engineering backgrounds.

I went to an info session and the person in charge of presenting the program told me I should be fine, since I already took the required prerequisite classes (Calculus, Data Structures & Algorithms, Probability and Statistics and a Programming Language) at Baruch through my CS minor. That was reassuring, but I’d still like to hear from actual students before making a decision.

A few questions:

• How hard are the core courses compared to undergrad?
• Is the program more theory and math heavy, or more hands-on and practical?
• Did anyone come in from a business or CIS background? How was the adjustment?
• Were there any topics you wish you had studied before starting?
• How manageable is it if you’re working at the same time?

Any honest experiences would really help. Thanks in advance!

Just had a quick question about registration. When do I email my advisor so I can schedule a meeting with him to talk about registration? I didn’t receive any emails about this and I’m thinking maybe there was a glitch and I didn’t get any email. Or is it too early still and I should wait? I already see the spring semester in schedule builder, so I was just curious. Also anyone know any easy electives in the 20000 range?

I’ve been looking around campus and noticed we don't have an official furry or anthropomorphic art/creative club on the john jay campus. I wanted to post and see if there’s any interest in starting an informal group or Discord server for students who share the interest!

The goal would just be low-stress hangouts, casual gaming, art sharing, of course tea sharing and maybe planning group trips to local NYC mini-conventions/events if our broke college student budgets allow.

Hi everyone! How good is CCNY for pre-med students aiming for top medical schools? Are there good opportunities for clinical volunteering, hospital shadowing, and research? Does CCNY provide good pre-med advising, or do you mostly have to figure things out yourself?

For biology majors, how strong are the research opportunities? Is it easy or difficult to join a research lab, and can biology students get involved in biomedical engineering (BME) research too? Also, is the biology major very competitive or reasonably manageable?

I’d really appreciate honest feedback from current students and alumni, especially those who applied to or attended medical school. Thanks!

Ik it varies by person and for someone it might be a good idea but for others it might not but as a general statement are the tradeoffs worth it. (should add it would be the only summer class I'd take)
