When to take the Casper to have the “weakest” pool to compete with

Anyone has ideas whether certain periods or days incoming would probably have weaker applicant pools and would be advantageous to take the Casper during?
Thanks in advance!

Ahhhh anyone here for Oct.15 (6:00 PM)

Tryna study but im so nervous 😅it is ABSOLUTELY CRIMINAL how McMaster can disqualify me based on a 1 hour non-consistant, non-validated, and somewhat subjective/arbitrary assessment after I spent 3+ years trying for the best GPA I can and 4+ months of pain grinding MCAT. Sorry had to get that out there. Remember guys, ur performance on ts doesn't determine how 'ethical' you are, it's just a fancy way for unis to claim they're being holistic while turning a blind eye to the contrary evidence. 7 hours until my doom... GOOD LUCK EVERYONE 🙌

Video responses!

Hii for anyone that’s taken the Casper before any tips for the videos? I feel confident in the typing sections, my typing is fast and I can get my message across before the timer ends but when I get a video my mind completely blanks. Like I start speaking gibberish and just saying um and can’t think of anything. I also find eye contact hard in videos because I’m used to looking away every so often in real conversation lol! Any advice?!

Last-minute question: can I have notes?

Heyy guys my test is tn (6:00pm) and I just wanted to know if I can have a notebook open to write down names - I sometimes end up referring to the person in the video as 'this person', which sounds cold-ish and probably doesn't give off a great impression 😅. Can I keep a notebook to jot down names and possibly some solutions during the reflection period?

October 14th Casper takers... how are we feeling?

It honestly wasn't as bad as i expected, but it lowkey went by so fast that i barely even remember any of it. I feel like there weren't any questions that were super stumping... but i'm not fully confident in some of my answers (and also super nervous about how i'll do). How's everyone else feeling?

4th quartile studied the literal night before

i’m telling you these are basically just mmi questions but even easier. i decided to take this so last minute for a program. during the exam, take notes and write down details aggressively during the video, be actively thoughtful as if you’re a therapist. emphasize private and nonjudgmental conversation and repeat that for your answers in different formats. watch youtube videos on formatting your answer and follow that script in a way that is natural to you, but there really is no one right way. (i used becoming doctalia, HIGHLY recommend). make sure to address the situation, address ALL povs, offer multiple solutions methods, throw in empathy kindness collaboration no assumptions.

FOR TIMING: smtg that really helped with time was while taking notes during the video playing or the processing time they give you, i was already coming up with a script of what the different ethical concerns and perspectives and narratives were and the nuances i have to address. that can literally be writing down a few 2-3 words for each consideration but it helped me SO much. i also always tried to turn on CAPTIONS and write down the characters names to be highly specific and personable! makes my answers more personable. dress professionally as well :)

and boom. ur chillin. i even got cut off for written at times so don’t worry about that. i type pretty average/fast as i’m a scribe. spelling errors don’t matter, they want to see effort. do the online practice exams and practice with chatgpt or some ai with a timer as well, it really helped. the questions are very much rinse and repeat.

would this be a red flag?

A customer asks for a cash refund without a receipt because he says he needs the money for his daughter’s medication. Store credit has already been offered, but he says he specifically needs cash. You are the store manager deciding whether to make an exception and how to communicate your decision.
Q1: As the store manager, would you give this customer a refund? Why or why not?

As they have the credit-> use it to buy something-> get receipt-> and return it then and there get the cash.

Keep going, premed. I am proud of you. ❤️

You might be an 18-year-old freshman, a 21-year-old senior, or a 35-year-old changing careers. Whatever your age, if you are premed, you are still early on the road to becoming a doctor. I'm here to tell you what I wish someone had told me: you are capable, and you have what it takes to win, even when the finish line feels far away.

I know your mind is crowded. How do I get the grades? How do I prepare for the MCAT? Why do I feel lost? Where do I find research? Will I ever land shadowing? Is my personal statement great or terrible? That's a lot to carry, and it's okay. Just keep moving forward.

Keep going, premed. I am proud of you. ❤️

Sometimes it feels like everyone is watching you. Family may weigh on your confidence, and the people around you may be complaining or showing off. Don't be fooled. Everyone is fighting their own battles. If you've cried along the way, you're not alone. If you've felt behind, you're not alone. If someone compared you to a premed who seemed further ahead, you're not alone.

Keep going, premed. I am proud of you. ❤️

Here's the twist: hardship is what builds you. It grows your resilience and gives you room to shine. Heroes rarely feel heroic in the middle of the story. You may feel a step behind or out of rhythm, but keep moving forward.

Keep going, premed. I am proud of you. ❤️

You can conquer the MCAT. You can apply again if you need to. If the emotional weight gets heavy, set it down. Remind yourself that your goal is a noble one, and let that carry you. Some people spend their energy on petty games and tearing others down. Not you. You work hard because you want to care for patients one day. That is impressive, and it deserves respect.

Keep going, premed. I am proud of you. ❤️

YES, YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES! Don't let anyone talk you out of it. Whether your score is a 472 or a 528, I'm telling you, you have what it takes.

Keep going!

Keep going, premed. I am proud of you.

If you'd like a different line, I can try options like "You've got this, premed" or "One step at a time, premed."

Possible to submit previous year's Casper score for new application cycle?

Last year I applied to Brock and Western teacher's college and got Q1 for Capser. I unfortunately didn't get into either school, but I'm reapplying this year and am very happy with my score...

I really don't want to retake it in case I get a worse score. Is it possible to reuse my score from last year, or do I just have to suck it up and do it again?

Feeling kinda lost here: can someone human-rate my answers?

Heyy guys, I hope y'all are prepping well and hopefully we can crush this BS exam 😭🫩. I'm a Canadian premed and I'm writing CASPer the day after tmr (15th). I've spent about 6 hours a day prepping for the last 3 days, and I have three more days, but the issue is that I keep getting lowish scores on CasperPractice.org and ChatGPT/Gemini (2nd Q). On one hand I don't wanna complain b/c I've already been blessed with more than I could've expected for this year in terms of academics, but it does feel a bit weird that only CASPer can potentially hold me back after all my work. I especially seem to be struggling with situational personal questions (rather than moral dilemmas), b/c I don't know the proper route of escalation. I'd really appreciate if anyone has input on what I can improve here:

Scenario 2: (it is a personal dilemma, and here I must immediately respond rather than 'fairly weighing both sides', etc.)

Your roommate and close friend, Jordan, has been locked in their bedroom for 24 hours after failing a critical licensing exam. When you knock to check in, Jordan opens the door slightly, looks deeply distressed, and says, "I ruined my life. There's no point in being here anymore. Just leave me alone, I'm going to sleep and I don't want to see anyone." Jordan then locks the door. (BTW Jordan is ME ASL after this Thursday 💔🫩)

Question 1:

Jordan asked to be left alone, but hinted at severe distress and potential self-harm ("no point in being here anymore"). What specific steps do you take right now?

My response (2 minutes, so I can have 1 minute for Q2):

"This is a difficult situation because although I acknowledge Jordan's rights to privacy and autonomy, there is credible threat of self-harm, which supersedes this. I will immediately phone a crisis management line or suicide prevention line, and gently and empathetically talk to Jordan. I will talk to Jordan until the team arrives, and then hand off the situation to them, as I am not a professional. However, if Jordan stops talking at any moment, I will recognize that the situation can have escalated and immediately phone campus security or the police, citing the credible risk of self-harm. Ultimately, my goal is to make Jordan feel supported and safe until professional help arrives, and intervene if the situation seems to escalate. "

I'm a slow typer so I'm tryna use a modified PPRDJ framework:

Sentance one is PPR all in one (I acknowledge both perspectives and the problem at hand, and I also wrote down my responsibility as a friend)

Sentances 2,3 and 4 are all Descision (using if/than statements)

Sentance 5 is judgement, if time permits (basically wrapping it up)

Scenario 2 (it is a personal dilemma, and it's less immediately serious, so I can chill out a bit):
You are living with your close friend and classmate, Maya. Over the past three weeks, you've noticed that Maya has stopped attending social events, leaves her room only to eat, and frequently looks overwhelmed.

Tonight, after she misses another group dinner you both planned weeks ago, you knock on her door to check in. She opens the door, visibly exhausted, and says: "I know you're worried, but I really just need to be left alone right now. Please don't ask me about it, and please don't tell our other friends or my family—I'm just tired and I'll handle it myself."

Question 1: Maya insists she wants to be left alone and asks you not to involve anyone else. How would you respond to her in this moment, and what steps would you take?

"This is a difficult situation because while I am worried about Maya, I also acknowledge that she has the rights to privacy and autonomy, and it is my responsobility to maintain this boundary. I will start by apologizing for bothering her, and letting her know that I am here if she needs anything. I will then inform our friend group that Maya is turning in early for the night - I will not informt them of what Maya said, as she explicitly told me not to. Later in the evening, I will send Maya a gentle, non-confrontational message, informing her that I am always there if she needs someone to talk to or meet. If she meets me later on, I will acknowledge how she may be feeling overwhelmed, and direct her to the correct resources - such as campus counsellor, etc. - if appropriate. If she does not want to meet, I will not pry, and allow her to process the situation as she pleases. My goal is to ensure my friend feels safe and supported, while also respecting her autonomy to make her own decisions."

Sentance one is PPR all in one (I acknowledge both perspectives and the problem at hand, and I also wrote down my responsibility as a friend)

Sentances 2,3, 4 and 5 are all Descision (using if/than statements)

Sentance 6 is judgement, if time permits (Ima be honest, I ran out of time before I wrote this, so on the real test, there probably wouldn't be a "J" part of my answer, I just wanted to get the clean answer out there before I work on trimming it)

If y'all made it this far, THANK YOU, and please help a brother out 😭💔

For those who had 4q and slow typing speed. Can you share some of the responses.

Just what the title says, I am struggling trying to convey the message in a time crunch.

My speed is 50wpm but when thinking under pressure, it does go down.

What are some things you guys have done that have helped you.

I know those who can type 100 wpm will say increase your speed, I test in 3 days i can t do that. So please help if you have cracked the solution while in the same situation.

Picking a stance when considering two factors?

Hey! I’ve been using an AI coaching thing (I understand there are many flaws in this, all of which were deeply considered before committing to it) and I keep getting hung up on one specific kind of question:

“What factors should “Timmy” consider before doing xyz? Explain.”

I explain the factors and what the implications of each are (considering both parties involved as well as benefits/consequences) and I keep getting feedback that I need to ultimately pick a side and say why i chose it. I’m stuck on wether this is an AI hallucination or the underlying aspect of the question that I’m missing? Should I be explaining the factors and saying which option I think is better always?

I realize no one knows for sure, and these aren’t acuity insight questions, but any perspectives or feedback would be helpful as it seems counterintuitive to pick a side when explicitly asked to “consider the factors”

Thanks!!

FEELING ABSOLUTELY DESTOYED BY THIS TEST

English is not my first language. I don't think the way they want me to think because I come from a different culture. People who get in touch with me usually say that I'm a nice person. However, after purchasing the membership from two different platforms to practice casper, and have done more than 100 scenarios of practice questions. I'm still consistently scoring 2q on the practice questions. I thought I was a thoughtful and mature individual so that I should ace this test. Now I feel overly frustrated and doubt who I am as a person. My test is in two days. I really don't know what else I can do.

Do exam raters judge your presentation for oral responses?

I'm not feeling well, and I do not tend to make eye contact with my camera. I tried practicing, and it seems like an old habit that will not be fixed by the exam date. I do have decent responses tho, so will my scores be based on that or will they also look at my appearance and interviewing qualities (eye contact and hand movement)?

ABOLISH THIS TEST

Can someone please start a petition to get rid of this test. I understand wanting to measure applicants’ “soft” skills, but this is clearly not the way. I think it’s extremely ironic that Acuity wants applicants to gather all information on a situation before coming to a conclusion, but then grade us on a 1-minute oral response which is no where near enough time to give proper answers. Additionally, this test is extremely unreliable and has literally been scientifically proven to have absolutely zero correlation to how ethical an individual actually is. Acuity Insights and McMaster University is a scam and you cannot tell me otherwise.

Casper Prep Resources that are like Exam Questions

Going though some of the recent posts, it seems many people felt the questions were "weird" and caught off guard for the recent exams. I recall seeing a note/advice that follow-up questions are more layered (build on first answer or ask to reconsider). Does anyone have insights on the good practice resource where the questions were similar in style to the actual exam?

I was thinking of CasPrep net, PrepTrack (paid), StudyCapser, Prep Match. Any insights? I like getting instant feedback, which is why CasPrep and PrepTrack stood out to me. But I can't seem to find crediable reviews for them/unsure if the questions are similar to the exam. But it seems like PrepMatch is the "gold standard", just curious as to why? Basically, PrepMatch (downside no instant feedback so need to use separate AI) vs CasPrep/PrepTrack (paid).

Thanks!

CASPer Test Prep: Why your first instinct on a situational question might not be your best answer

Hi,

Before we dive into the main part of this post, here’s a quick refresher on CASPer test question styles. They mainly come in three types, which I label as:

Situational: asks what you would do. “How would you handle this?”

Reflective: asks about your own experience. “Describe a time when...” or “How would you feel if you made a mistake that affected someone else?”

Judgment: asks which option you think is fairest or best, and why.

Knowing which one you’re looking at changes how you answer. Over the next few weeks, I’ll go through each type and how to build stronger responses. This week is situational.

The easy trap with situational questions is going straight to action and jumping to a solution. It feels natural. A problem shows up, the timer is running, and you want to fix it. But the answer can turn into a list of things you’d do without showing you understood what was going on for the people involved, or why you chose those actions.

Here’s a scenario to show what I mean:

You are a volunteer at a community fundraiser. A teammate is overwhelmed, and the attendees are waiting in line. Other volunteers are unsure of how to step in, and the attendees are becoming impatient. How would you handle this situation?

A response that goes straight to action might look like this:

“I would take over the line myself and tell the other volunteers to start helping so everyone gets served faster. I’d keep going until things calm down.”

There’s nothing wrong with those actions. But here’s a version that starts somewhere different:

“I understand my teammate is stressed, the attendees are frustrated about waiting, and the other volunteers want to help but don’t know how. I would offer to help my overwhelmed teammate, and I’d ask the other volunteers to manage the line by explaining the delay or directing them to other activities while they wait. This approach supports my teammate immediately, keeps attendees informed, and gives everyone a clear role so the event runs smoothly.”

Roughly the same kind of actions, but the second one shows who’s affected and how they’re feeling before it acts, makes the actions more specific, and finishes with why that approach makes sense.

If you want something to practise with, try this: before you write a single action, take a few seconds to ask yourself who is affected and what they might be feeling, even if you don’t agree with them. Then the actions, and why your approach matters.

Next week, reflective questions.
