Thinking about a prenup in San Mateo county, anyone done this?

Getting married next year and trying to approach a prenup without making it feel like we're planning our divorce. I started a small company before meeting my fiancée. It's doing well now but isn't some huge corporation. She has substantially more retirement savings than I do and expects to inherit property eventually.

We both have student debt. We're comfortable keeping what we brought into the marriage separate. The questions start around what happens to growth in my business, a future house we buy together, contributions one person makes if the other steps away from work for kids, and debts taken on during the marriage.

For San Mateo couples who've done this, what issues did your attorney bring up that you hadn't considered yourselves? Also, did you each hire separate attorneys? I have been exploring marble law and a few others. I'm more interested in making expectations clear now than trying to protect myself from my future wife.

looking for a dog sitter

i have a 6 year old staffy and haven’t had much luck in rover. my maternal instinct thinks it’s because he looks like a pitbull but he is the sweetest, 60lb boy who loves to cuddle and be lazy.

we are going on a trip over christmas and new years and looking for someone who loves dogs, doesn’t have other dogs or cats in the house, and is home for most part of the day.

unfortunately, our family aren’t huge dog people so we aren’t reliant on them.

please dm me! thanks!

What was that loud rumbling sound lol

I’m off broadway and there was the loudest rumbling sound that went on forever. I thought it was a train but the trains never make the walls of my house literally shake. Was it a plane that flew super close by or what? Wondering if anyone else heard / felt it lol. It happened around 7:40pm ish.

New grad RN here. Do I need ACLS before applying to Peninsula hospitals?

I just passed the NCLEX and started applying to hospitals around Burlingame, San Mateo, and Millbrae. Some job postings say ACLS is required, while others list it as preferred, so I’m not sure if I should get certified now or wait until I’m hired.

For those who recently went through the hiring process in the area, did you already have your ACLS certification when you applied? Does the provider you get certified through matter or do hospitals usually arrange it during onboarding? Thank you for any advice!

So many dogs! Rescues need support. Maybe you have a few hours a month or a few hours a week or an hour a day. The dogs appreciate any amount of time, any.

Dynamicduodogrescue.org is the website. We are growing faster than we can keep up with. There are many things to help with that does not consist of fostering. Social media experts, admin, posting, adoption events, transport, research, planning, fundraising, and so on.

Reach out here, on IG, or fill out this form: https://new.shelterluv.com/form/volunteer/DDDR/79980-volunteer

Burlingame public schools for a child ahead of grade level?

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

We’re considering Burlingame as a long-term place to settle and would love to hear from parents with firsthand experience in the public schools.

Our son is entering TK/K, and his preschool has consistently described him as advanced, particularly verbally and academically. We’re not especially attached to the label, and we’re not looking to push acceleration for its own sake. We mainly want him somewhere he’ll be happy, engaged, and appropriately challenged.

I really want to be a believer in the public schools if possible. The neighborhood-school aspect, local friends, and community are all very appealing. But I’m trying to understand what differentiation actually looks like in Burlingame for kids who enter school already ahead of grade level.

For parents whose kids entered TK/K already reading, doing math above grade level, or otherwise noticeably ahead:

Did teachers differentiate effectively within the classroom?
Were kids able to work ahead or get more challenging material?
Did your child stay engaged, or was boredom an issue?
Does support for advanced learners improve in later grades?
Have you noticed meaningful differences between the Burlingame elementary schools?
Did you ultimately feel public school was a good fit, or did you consider private school?
I’d also be very interested in hearing from anyone who has compared Burlingame with San Carlos or San Mateo for a child like this.

Private school is an option for us, but I’d prefer not to assume it’s necessary without first understanding what Burlingame public schools can offer.

RIP Broadway Caltrain Station

Thumbnail caltrain.com
92 Upvotes

Latest cost estimates for the Broadway Caltrain rebuild have ballooned higher than ever, so City Council opted to remove the station entirely (including the option to add a station later) for $653 million. At this point, including the station in the rebuild would be a $1B+ project.

Overall, it's a tragic loss for the city and the Broadway Business District, but I do understand the fiscal reality and the fact that there are already two closeby Caltrain stations with other transit connections to get to Broadway. The grade separation itself is still desperately needed from a safety perspective. The fact that this sort of thing is so expensive highlights a bigger issue with American infrastructure projects in general and explains why we can't compete with other countries anymore.

My only consolation is that the project likely won't start until 2030 at the earliest, so we can still get weekend use of the station in the meantime. But it's a shame we're not getting a renewed Broadway Business District like San Mateo got with Hillsdale.

Dynamicduodogrescue.org needs fosters! We have some super cute pups coming tomorrow and they need a loving place to land.

Mila, the sweetest 3 year old pug. Just a good wholesome girl.

15 lb, 4 year old, white wire haired boy looking for a second chance at life.

A gorgeous dirty lil white, blue eyed 3 month old puppy. Bearclaw is his name. He was living in the wild with his Mama and sibling (we got his Mama!)

They arrive tomorrow!! They will be flown in from the Central Valley. Let's save some lives.

We can supply whatever you need to make this easy.

If you took a backpack and live in Howard ave and Anita rd plz give back my backpack

It was at my third week of working at quest and someone stolen my backpack from the break room with my MacBook, iPad, homework from school and 3 medications. If you did it or know who did it plz can you give me back. I was over one year unemployed dealing with mental health and I’m currently facing eviction for nonpayment. I can not afford to buy those things again. The devices are blocked and you need a password it won’t be useful for you. I can even give you 100 and don’t involve the police I just need my things back plz

Anyone know what's up with Local Kitchens in Burlingame? When is it going to open?

The title says it all, Local Kitchens has been sitting stagnant for over a year and a half now. They put the sign up, started remodeling the interior, posted about it on instagram, and then BOOM, nothing.... Sitting vacant with no activity for the past year+. I went by there the other day, because I was stopping by Sweetgreen (if you haven't had this place it's a must try), and I spotted a notice on their door that said 3 days to pay or quit. Anyone know what's up? I'm really hoping that Local Kitchens opens up because it looks amazing, I mean when you see all their different options on Instagram it looks SO TASTY. Hoping it didn't fall through and they never open...

Burlingame pedestrians are dying at 4x the national average. Councilman Stevenson touts pedestrian responsibility.

In today's article in the San Mateo Daily Journal, the City Council touts its "plan" to eliminate pedestrian deaths . . . within fifteen years. The plan is sadly lacking in ambition. Many on Council have refused to implement safety recommendations in recent years for fear of inconveniencing drivers. According to the Ayden Fang lawsuit, a resident notified a City Councilperson of the danger at the location where the young boy was killed.

In the article, Councilman Stevenson suggests more pedestrian responsibility to address these tragedies. What was four-year-old Ayden Fang doing wrong when an SUV driver accelerated onto the sidewalk at 27 mph and killed him? Do we need to educate residents on how to walk on the sidewalk to avoid getting killed by drivers?
