People Greeter's job is so chaotic and I don't how to deal with it!

So, for the past 2 days, I have been assigned a People Greeter job at Bunnings and I am expected to do thousands of tasks:

• Greet people when they come in and go out

• Scan customers' receipts

• Don't let customers take baskets and baby trolleys outside of the store

• Help people locate products (which I have no knowledge of, I just joined Bunnings)

• Confront people and check their greater than A4 size bags

• Help people change their chlorine and gas bottles

• Resolve people queries

AND ALL OF THIS WHEN THERE HEAPS OF CUSTOMERS IN THE STORE!

AND WHAT NOT!

How do you all deal with this job, please help a friend out!

I have a 7 hour shift tomorrow performing all these duties! 😞

Been trying to find these older 'wardrobe keys', 'barrel keys' or what evs folks call them... seem each person i ask has a different name for them.

Cant spot them at my local, and not having luck on the site either.

Anyone know what bunnings calls them, and/or got a link on the website to them?

Thanks!

desk build with a 2400 x 900 x 33mm Brown Acacia Multi-Use Timber Panel

Hi all,

I am looking to build a desk using the above SpecRite panel. It won’t be cut down any as we are wanting a big desk. My question is - do I need to do consider any supports for it, or is it thick enough that just installing 4 legs on it will be enough?

TIA :)

Whoever decided to play Bunnings Tradio over our speakers today rather than the usual dribble, bravo 🙌 made the day a lot nicer today

Ok. I like to have a look at products as much as anyone. This pisses me off. Entitled. Inconsiderate. Though less. Etc etc

EA Votes Open TONIGHT!

Just a reminder that voting for the new EA opens tonight.
Personally voting no. Really reccomend you do the same.

The 4.25% sounds alright on paper but not everyone will actually get that much, and having to wait until April for everything else is pretty disappointing.

I’d rather see them go back and negotiate something better than just lie down and accept what’s being offered like wageslaves.

Worth having a proper read on teams before voting. They're trying to screw us, let's get as much as we can out of this.

VOTE NO!

Looking for something on the left I can fill with herbs that could thrive in indoor, indirect light, to hang on the left wall in the second image. Thanks :)

Not allowing refunds

Im coming to the end of renovating the house and have been returning the unwanted/unused items back in exchange for mostly plants and landscaping etc but the last return of a TV bracket wasn't able to be completed like normal. The lady at the desk required management who said due to doing lots of returns, that I'm "flagged" and to keep my receipts from now on.

Ok easy to know that now and I will keep receipts from now on but I still have a few items to return that I never bothered to keep the receipts for because I always thought if I don't use the item then no worries I'm always going to need something else with such a big project. Also flagged for what?

The sausage sizzle is part of the shopping trip

I can go to Bunnings with absolutely no intention of getting a sausage in bread, then somehow end up buying one anyway. It’s become part of the whole experience. I know it’s usually run by a local community group, which makes it even better. Does your local still have a regular weekend sausage sizzle, or have you noticed them becoming less frequent?

Why are we told to announce thieves?

For Bunnings workers, I’m just wondering why people in support etc say when someone looks dodgy, when someone is stealing etc. but we are also told to just let them so there’s no chance of them being violent.

Why? Literally what’s the point? Is it just to ensure people are vigilant about a potentially violent person? Itd make sense if there are things we can do to prevent them stealing.

For reference i work in gi so there’s some things i have no clue about compared to people on the floor.

Will Bunnings take back a product that is just... Shit?

I bought a Holman hose head with multiple settings like shower, jet, mist etc. but goddamn it's shit. Jet is the same as full/normal and mist is half jet half full.

Would they accept it as a return?! There's nothing technically wrong with it and I don't have the packaging anymore.

Fence Pickets gone?

Can anyone tell me if they still sell timber Fence Picket? All the links from Google are 404, and nothing comes up in their useless search?

Just joined Bunnings

I recently got a job at Bunnings, and all I’ve heard and seen is people leaving, I’ve literally worked not even a fortnight and have seen 10+ workers leave within my time. Is this common?

Votes are almost open!

Just wanted to check in and see what people's opinions are currently on the new agreement.

I'm 100% in the 'NO' column as I find it an insult to all the workers out there.

Let me know your thoughts and opinions!

Casual shifts all cut

Hi everyone. My store is going through a budget cut and they slowly removed all my shits that I already had for this month. Reached out to my coordinator and they said unfortunately there is no budget. Woke up this morning to all of my shifts for this month gone, I have no work now. I asked my casual friends and it’s the same for them. Any advice? Seems pretty sad. They also just hired heaps of new people. Coordinator sent a message in the teams chat saying the store isn’t making enough money and they apologise. 🙏🏻

The Bunnings returns process is one of the better retail experiences in Australia and I say that as someone who has tested it more than I probably should have

Bought the wrong size, the wrong type and in one memorable case the wrong product entirely on three separate occasions in the last year. The returns process each time was so straightforward that the embarrassment of having to do it was the main cost. No interrogation about why, no suggesting that maybe I should have known better, no making the process harder than it needed to be. Would love to know if people here have had a returns experience that went differently because I'm starting to think the no questions asked policy might actually mean no questions asked.

Advice please - Skate ramp built by unqualified 42yo man child, who can’t skate and disturbs our neighbourhood peace. None of us want to hear how fked a skater he is. What’s the best revenge?

Is Bunnings aware they actually need to let people buy the stuff?

1.1k Upvotes

Every time I go to Bunnings lately…

12 self checkouts ✅
11 self checkouts closed ✅
1 self checkout open ✅
14 people waiting ✅
Barely a cashier in sight ✅

What’s the damn problem with the self checkouts? Why install an entire army of them if they’re permanently chained off like a crime scene?

Finding what I need is somehow easier than actually paying for it…
