BuildCores link: https://www.buildcores.com/builds/yXIg_f17j?share=true
- Case: MSI MEG MAESTRO 900R - CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 - Motherboard: MSI MEG X870E ACE MAX - CPU Cooler: MSI MEG CORELIQUID E15 360 - GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 5090 32G LIGHTNING Z - RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 Royal Neo RGB 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5-6000 CL26 - Storage: Corsair MP700 PRO XT 4TB PCIe 5.0 NVMe - PSU: MSI MEG Ai1600T PCIE5 1600W 80+ Titanium - Fans: 4x ID-COOLING AF-127 Gold/Black 120mm - OS: Windows 11 Pro
**Why this build:** I'm a systems engineer, so this machine has two jobs: max-settings gaming at night, and a homelab during the day.
- 9950X3D2: 16 cores with 3D V-Cache – top-tier gaming performance without giving up the core count I need to run several VMs at once.
- 64GB DDR5-6000 CL26 on 2 DIMMs: the sweet spot for Ryzen 9000 (1:1 memory controller ratio, tight timings), with enough capacity for gaming plus multiple VMs. EXPO kit, matched to the platform.
- X870E ACE MAX: flagship VRMs for sustained all-core loads, plenty of Gen5 M.2 slots for VM storage and fast networking for NAS transfers.
- All-MEG core: case, board, GPU, AIO and PSU from the same lineup for consistent quality, unified MSI Center control and one design language.
- Cooling: the CORELIQUID E15 360 is top-mounted as exhaust while front and bottom intake feed cool air straight to the LIGHTNING Z, so CPU and GPU never fight over the same air under combined loads.
- MEG Ai1600T: native 12V-2x6 for the 5090, Titanium efficiency at everyday loads, and real headroom for the LIGHTNING Z's overclocking potential and transient spikes.
Black and gold from case to RAM to fans – the MEG aesthetic all the way through. Built to work hard and look good doing it.

The top exhaust and front/bottom intake split id great for that chassis with a 5090 underneath since letting the gpu pull fresh air independently rather than competing with the aio makes real difference in sustained all core plus gaming load which is basically your daily scenario, and how the 9950X3D2 handles the vm workloads alongside gaming since the V-cache on a 16 core should be interesting territory for that kind of mixed use.
