People, please. Don't be this guy

Saw this at the Orchard Park Tops...

Please. When you go to the grocery store, please keep a few things in mind.

Don't park in the no parking zone

Don't park in what is technically an intersection

Don't park an oversized vehicle in a space that doesn't fit

Make sure your car isn't blocking the driving lanes

Don't block the view of who's coming at an intersection

In other words, don't be this guy.

Nobody likes this and an employee was outside just about to call the police to have them remove or ticket the vehicle when the guy came out.

I see people park in the no parking zone enough but that's just another level

If anyone sees her please let me know! She escaped through a window during the early morning yesterday and hasn’t been back since and I’m worried sick. I’ve looked yesterday morning, last night, and this morning for her but no luck. Left out some food and her litter so she could smell it and hopefully come back but no luck (I’ll take any additional advice). She’s around 8 months old. Shes a calico with tabby markings, she also has a little greyish/brown spot on the back of one of her legs. She was wearing a purple-ish collar when she got out. Probably will be hanging around closer to Main St. I’m just worried someone took her :(

Do you think if I hand out tricks for Halloween the kids will like it?

Hey all! I live in the northtowns and I am the street’s weirdo. I have a purple house and I like to host bubble events sometimes 🫧👀
This year I decided I’m gonna hand out tricks instead of treats. I’ll be dressed up as a witch, I have a black cat who will be my accomplice and I have a cauldron with fog that’ll come out. I plan to hand out huge potatoes, onions, and various plastic toys like eyeballs, bugs, witches fingers, etc.
is this a fun idea or just weird? I wanna be different and memorable!

Broadway Barns partial roof collapse prompts public emergency declaration

Buffalo Mayor Sean Ryan declared a public emergency for the Broadway Barns after a partial roof collapse at the facility. The certificate of emergency was issued Oct. 5.

"The Broadway Barns are in an almost deplorable state of condition" said Deputy Mayor Benjamin Swanekamp.

The Ryan administration has long expressed concerns about the state of the building, which houses city equipment including garbage trucks and snow plows. The mayor's office chose the location for its April budget announcement in an attempt to demonstrate why the city needed to raise property taxes.

Would you move to Olean for $4,000? The response might surprise you

Besides the cash, the program offers coffee with the mayor, a free ski pass and free tickets to Bonaventure basketball games to try to lure remote workers, expatriates and others to move. The aim is to grow the population of the Cattaraugus County community of 14,000 people and help build its core of higher-earning professionals.

The 46,000-square-foot facility is designed to provide up to 15 megawatts of computing power. Sustainability features will include a closed-loop water system that captures heat generated by the facility and helps heat the UB campus.

Bigger and Better: Revised Plans for 303 Lafayette Avenue - Buffalo Rising

Plans for Lafayette Lots, a proposed apartment building at 303 Lafayette Avenue, have been revised. The development team is back with a new plan that adds a fourth floor and seven additional units to the project.

First proposed in February 2025 as a four-story, 28-unit apartment building, the project was downsized to three floors and 20 units after neighborhood pushback. Due to financial reasons, the project now calls for 27 units in a four story building with a top floor mansard roof design. Carmina Wood Design is project architect.

Question 19th Century Cemetery on Bailey?

Post image
10 Upvotes

So I work near Bailey and Doat, and I’m always glancing at the fenced in lawn next to the Church of Jesus Christ at 1980 Bailey (corner of Bailey and Hazel). I can’t help but notice that the yard looks an awful lot like an old church graveyard. Hell, I can even see some really subtle semi-rectangular depressions in the ground here and there that would be indicative of collapsed coffins.

I tried doing some digging online and didn’t find much, just that the church was built in 1893 and was originally an Episcopal church. But like, there aren’t too many reasons why a church would have a fenced in lawn like that, correct?

Does anyone know any more history about the church and if I’m correct or not?

Question Bella BBQ Sauce for Wings

Buffalo pizzerias have a very specific BBQ wing flavor that I would love to be able to replicate at home. I live in NYC now and none of the BBQ wings here have that special sweet taste.

The places that come to my mind as the best examples of what I’m talking about:

Bella Pizza
Blasdell Pizza
Picasso’s
Maria’s
P Dubs

A clean air community music space

We're hosting our monthly free community music improv "Buffalo Creative Music Group" https://www.meetup.com/buffalo-creative-music-group/

Sunday, October 18th at 1-3pm

My original vision for my music center was to continue teaching private piano, violin, sight singing, etc. in my own space, but due to a post-Covid condition I had to pivot.

After my recovery, I outfitted my space to be an accessible space for immunocompromised and medically vulnerable people. I studied Air-Aware principles and installed continuous air quality monitors, ventilation and filtration equipment as well as disinfecting lamps, making this a community music center for people like myself to socialize without fear.

Feel free to DM me to chat or for any info. Here's my website:

Thanks for reading and I hope to meet some wonderful new friends Sunday!

Relocation Moving to West Seneca

My fiancé and I are contemplating purchasing our first home together in West Seneca. The housing market in general sucks ass, high prices and interest rates. Despite these challenges, we managed to find a house that aligns with our budget and is situated in a pleasant neighborhood. We have a few questions for you all: what are the pros and cons of living in West Seneca? Are there any activities or attractions in the area that we should consider?

Drain tile experience

We had a structural engineer come to our house to assess some cracks in our basement wall. Essentially our cinder block walls are holding water, and he thinks we likely need our drain tile redone. It's a 100 year house, so it's not surprising. We're also fixing some grading issues around the house (i.e., raising concrete in small spots they are sloping towards the house).

Who do you all recommend for the work? The engineer said we have some bowing on our walls that is not causing structural damage to the joists. It's also not enough to need braces at this point. However, he cautioned us that basement companies might "require" us to get the bracing (because $$$). We absolutely do not want to do that unless we need to and would rather monitor the bowing after the drain tile is fixed.

Who has had good (or bad) experiences with which companies in the area?

Recs for fence in city

I’m looking for a company or contractor to rebuild a small part of my backyard wooden fence in the city. I’m hoping to find someone who can do it quickly, as all of a sudden my neighbor has an issue with the current fence. I looked through some older posts, but most of the recommendations don’t work in the city.

Electric city

I’ll be seeing a concert at electric city. Wanted to get a few of my records signed by the artist. Does anyone know if I’ll have any issues getting them into the venue? I was going to put them in a cardboard mailer to keep the covers protected.
