BritBox - October 2026 Schedule Announced
BBC Studios has announced the titles coming to BritBox in October 2026, which include a range of new BritBox Originals and classic British fare. BritBox is a digital video subscription service offering the most extensive collection of British TV in the U.S. and Canada.
The October lineup includes the premiere of Ludwig Season 2, featuring David Mitchell’s return as the brilliant but endearingly awkward puzzlemaster in the International Emmy Award-winning mystery series.
Now an official police consultant tackling a new slate of seemingly impossible crimes, John “Ludwig” Taylor continues his search for his missing twin brother alongside Lucy (Anna Maxwell Martin, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder), as one masquerade ends and another begins. Ludwig season two premieres October 13 on BritBox.
Fans can also catch more David Mitchell this month as the team captain in Would I Lie to You? Season 19, streaming on BritBox October 26.
David Tennant (Rivals) joins returning star Siobhan Finneran (Happy Valley) for a gripping third season of acclaimed prison drama Time. Set inside a young offenders institution, season three explores guilt, loyalty and redemption in the aftermath of tragedy, with an ensemble cast also featuring Jo Joyner, Vinette Robinson, and Warren Brown. Time season three premieres October 22 on BritBox.
BritBox adds another sweeping, must-watch classic to its period drama lineup with War and Peace, the acclaimed 2016 adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s epic, starring Lily James, Paul Dano, James Norton, Gillian Anderson, Jack Lowden, Jessie Buckley, and Callum Turner. Packed with romance, rivalry and intrigue against the grandeur of 19th-century Russia, the star-studded drama is available to stream October 5.

Two of the Best New Shows I've Watched in a While: Tommy & Tuppence (Britbox); Blue Murder Motel (Acorn) [Very Mild, Implied Spoilers] Spoiler
As with any relationship, there are peaks and valleys, but I really feel like Britbox and Acorn have been delivering for me of late. Having watched the final episode last night, I think Tommy & Tuppence is one of the best new shows I've watched in years. I'm a huge Agatha Christie (AC) fan, and although the characters have been updated, I think they truly remained true to the core of each character, while bringing them into the present. Episodes 5 & 6 are also quite faithful to one of my favorite AC books, and these episodes were together some of my favorite TV viewing in a while. Definitely keeping my fingers crossed for Season 2.
As for Acorn, Blue Murder Motel completely satisfied my withdrawal symptoms from missing Brokenwood. Great main characters, and some absolutely fantastic quirky supporting characters who recur in each episode and make everything work fabulously. I did get a bit tired of the two main characters constantly smooching so much, but by the last episode it became clear why the writers wants to really emphasize how much these two loved each other. Also, by the end, I almost want Saffron to have her won series. She is truly Brokenwood-worthy.
And to round it all off, The Good Ship Murder has delivered perhaps its best season yet (although I still have episode 8 to watch). Signora Volpe season 3 got off to a great start. And tonight I'll watch the first episode of Ludwig season 2. I love that Britbox and Acorn have been treating me well.

ITV recommissions hit cold-case crime drama Karen Pirie for a highly anticipated Third Series
ITV and World Productions are returning to a third series of Val McDermid’s internationally renowned cold case crime stories, Karen Pirie, with Lauren Lyle in the iconic role of the fiercely intelligent Scottish detective.
Following the success of the second series, averaging 5.3 million viewers with a peak of 5.6 million when it aired on ITV and STV last year, World Productions will produce The Skeleton Road, Val McDermid’s gripping and suspenseful third book in the Karen Pirie series of novels.
Acclaimed Scottish screenwriter, Gillian Roger Park (The Young Offenders, Avenue 5, The Bombing of Pan Am 103) will adapt the novel into a 6 x 1 hour series, which will start filming next year.

Blue Lights
I just finished season 3 (in the US so I don’t yet have season 4). I love this show. So so much. Never before has a show about cops moved me to tears so often. Mostly in season 3, but that’s probably because by this point we have really gotten to know the characters.
There are so many awesome shows on BritBox, but this is most definitely in my top three.
I want to tell the whole world to watch this show, but I’ll start here. 😊

The Good Ship Murders S3E8 Spoiler
Okay, I know the show is kind of cheesy, but I love it. And here I am so excited to watch E8, IGNORANT of any all changes coming up next season, only to have a character I formerly disliked, but had now come to absolutely adore, be KILLED OFF. I was so sad. And I am not thrilled with the upcoming changes. They should have ended the show altogether and figured out a better finale.

Full Series Letdown
Anyone else get a bit frustrated about BritBox offering incomplete series??
Especially annoyed they only have 2 seasons of Friday Night Dinners & also same goes for The Royle Family.

Season 4 Bramwell
What the heck did they do with the season? They ruined it with strange scripts and very bad direction. All those close-ups of people’s faces in the dark. Everything this season, dark and creepy and the characters were not the same. They took Eleanor and turned her into an hysterical overwrought hormonal woman. Didn’t like it at all.

Ludwig video too dark
I'm having a problem with the video on BB. Everything is very dark as if it were always night. I don't have this problem on Netflix or other channels. Are others having this problem?

I just finished the second episode and I cracked up. I love this show already, and wish I hadn’t waited to start watching it.
Just had to let everyone know ;)

Toast of London
WTF, they got rid of Toast of London?!?
That's one of my comfort shows.
This pisses me off!

Rev.
I started watching Rev. It's OK, but not nearly as good as some of the other shows I've seen on Britbox. I'm tempted to bail on it and find another series, but I see it has 3 seasons so I'm wondering if it gets better as it goes. Has anyone watched it? Thoughts?

Brit Box Crime Drama Recommendations
Wondering what you kind folks would suggest on Brit Box however I’m looking for specific type of shows.
I loved Line of Duty for starters. I noticed that a handful of detective type shows that are on the sillier side and that’s not really my thing. I like a serious show like Line of Duty. Something tense throughout and not on the lighter side.
The Bay has been recommended to me so I’ll give that a shot but curious if any other suggestions may fit my criteria? TIA!!
