Discussion Boost Mobile (Blake): I’m still here—and I want to show up differently for you

I’ve noticed it’s been a little quiet in the community lately, and want to help bring some excitement back. Also, I wanted to reach out and remind everyone that I’m still active here, monitoring the threads daily, and ready to jump in whenever you hit a snag.

In 2025, we proved that this sub isn’t just a place to vent—it’s a place where we get things done. We resolved over 1,000 individual cases and pushed through 15 major fixes because of your reports. As we move further into 2026, I want to move from being a "firefighter" who just fixes problems to a "partner" who helps prevent them.

How we can get things all set

If you’re running into a technical hiccup, you don’t have to wait for a "support window" to post. Whether it's an eSIM activation, a device swap, or a plan question, I’m here to be your insider resource. You also don’t have to wait to post to receive help, I’m only a chat away Monday through Friday.

While I can’t share details on NDAs, ongoing internal projects, or specific network/contractual obligations, I can change how I provide utility to this sub. I want to know how I can be a better advocate for you.

What should the "Blueprint" look like?

I’m planning my next set of resources and I want to know how I can show up for you differently. Here are some ideas to stir the pot:

  • 🔍 Monthly "Inside Boost" Explainers: Technical deep dives into the "why" behind the "what" (without the corporate speak).
  • 📅 Real-Time Status Reports: Quick updates highlighting known system issues or fixes that were recently pushed.
  • 💡 "Inside Man" Guides: Proactive checklists (like the Porting Guide) to help you navigate our systems correctly the first time.
  • 🎤 Live "Office Hours": Dedicated 1-hour windows where I’m live in a thread to answer non-account-specific questions in real-time.
  • 🏆 Community Spotlight: Recognition and "early look" opportunities for our most helpful members.

Let’s build this together

My job is to be your voice inside the building—so tell me, how can I use that voice most effectively for you?

I’ll be checking this thread every hour to read your suggestions. If you have an account-specific issue that needs immediate attention, please send me a direct message so we can keep your details secure.

Full disclaimer: This is me asking how I can better show up and support our Boost Mobile community on Reddit. I take my role on here very seriously and want to do everything I can to help our community grow and be supportive. Please keep any feedback or questions about the brand or service itself for another day, or if you really want to share, please send it to me in a chat!

Which of the ideas above interests you most, or is there something entirely new you’d like to see from my presence here?

Discussion Walmart find , YMMV

Today while at my Walmart, I decided to check out the prepaid phones out and noticed 2 Boost Phones models were marked down to $9 .

One was a Galaxy A36 and the other was the 2025 Moto G Stylus, so I decided to try and buy the Stylus ( to upgrade my Celero 5g) . The clerk as surprised when I mentioned the price and went to look for the phone.

He first came back with a Moto Play 2026 and I told him that wasn’t the right model . He did eventually find the Stylus and rang it up and it was $9

However, he then called a manager to make sure there wasn’t something odd with the prices and was told to set it to the side. He finally walked over to the tag and came back and sold me the phone for $9

After setting it up, it works

So check your local Walmarts and maybe you can get a good deal on a phone if you need one

Question Infinite Galaxy plan issue..

Okay so I originally started a plan with boost over 2 years and opted in for the infinite galaxy plan for a samsung galaxy s25+ and then added 2 additional lines for husband and son later down the road. We brought our own devices for the 2nd and 3rd lines. I need to figure out a new device for my husband as the device we own is on its last leg so inquired about upgrading his line in the hopes of doing another infinite plan. I wasnt are it was no longer available offer. So they advised my options of finance plan with affirm which I do not want to do or buy device out right. While talking to the agent I had the sudden idea that potentially since my samsung s25+ device only has less then 400$ remaining on the pay off that what if I just paid the device off so id own the device outright woth it being paid off and all then since im grandfathered in(what they stated) for infinite plan just start a new agreement and get a S26 ultra or similar model. Then my husband could just use my paid off device and then I get an upgrade!

The lady definitely was not the best person I think to discuss this financing/contract topic as she kept putting me on hold to do an

" investigation ". She was stating that i could pay off the device and then id have to give it back after its fully paid off/owned outright and then they wouldn't even send me a new device until they get the one I paid off and own.. confusing and im struggling to understand how if I pay off and own the phone outright why i would need to give it back in order to begin a new agreement? I understand obviously if not paid off and wanting to upgrade which would require a trade in but not when I own it flat out.. i asked for contact info like email for the financing/contract department or infinite department and she wasnt able to give me anything. I know full well they had/have a financing or agreement department as i talked with them multiple times adter getting the device due to an issue I had.

I guess what im hoping to see is if anyone has been in this situation of paying off a device under the infinite plan and what ended up being your available options? And if anyone has any contact info for me to reach out for assistance other then the basic customer care number?

Thanks!

Discussion Clear answers on Boost Mobile account verification: Why we use extra security steps to protect your line

I’ve seen a few of you ask questions or express frustration when customer support flags an account for extra security checks, so I wanted to clear the air. We take your account security very seriously, and while running into extra verification steps can feel like a pain when you just want a quick fix for your line, these processes exist for a reason.

I want to be completely transparent about why these checks happen, what the process actually looks like, and how they protect your phone number from unauthorized access.

The Strategy Behind Account Security Bottom line: we only require these extra checks to make sure the person reaching out to us is actually you, and not someone attempting an unauthorized account takeover.

When does alternate verification happen? You’ll only be asked to complete alternate verification in these specific situations:

  • You can't receive a text passcode (OTP) and you forgot your PIN.
  • You're reporting a device lost or stolen. (We need to confirm account ownership before disabling any service.)
  • You need a Port PIN to move your service to another carrier and can't receive it via text. (We have to guarantee we aren't handing your phone number over to an unauthorized party.)
  • We detect suspicious activity on your account. If potential suspicious activity is flagged, we lock the account down until you can verify your identity.

The 2 Alternate Verification Options If standard verification cannot be completed, an agent will offer one of these two backup methods:

  1. ID Verification
    • How it works: A quick video selfie alongside photo scans of the front and back of your ID.
    • What you need: A valid government-issued photo ID such as a passport, driver’s license, or state ID.
  2. KBA (Knowledge-Based Authentication)
    • How it works: Security questions generated from public records and credit profiles.
    • What you need: Your Social Security Number (SSN).

🚨 The #1 Rule: We ONLY Do This When YOU Call US

These security checks only happen on calls YOU make to Boost Mobile.

Boost Mobile will NEVER call, text, or email you out of the blue asking for your PIN, your SSN, or an ID selfie. If someone contacts you claiming to be Boost Mobile and asks for any of these, it is a scam. Hang up immediately.

Question Watch 2GB plan: $10/mo forever with a phone line, or $25 after 6 months?

Signing up for the $25 Unlimited (BYOD) plus the Watch 2GB plan for my own Apple Watch, and the pricing is confusing.
- The help page says the watch is $10/mo with a phone line and only goes to $25 if all phone lines are cancelled.
- The plan card at checkout says "$25/mo, $10/mo for your first 6 months, then $25/mo forever." It also says "Includes $15/mo discount with phone line."
- The checkout checkbox says I agree to $50/mo after the promo, which is $25 for the phone plus $25 for the watch.

For anyone on the watch plan: did your watch line go from $10 to $25 after the promo, or does it stay at $10 as long as you have a phone line? Has anyone gotten a rep to confirm either way?

Trying to decide whether to add the watch or go phone-only. Thanks!

Discussion Boost App Keeps Logging Me Out

Why do I have to go through 2FA and password just to log in every time I click on the Boost App? It used to keep me logged in. So annoying, just to check my useage. And can I somehow opt out of 2FA? I hate it!

Discussion FCC complaint

Filed complaint for lack of fix to an issue boost mobile is aware of on the back end with infinite access. I have had infinite access for 2 years and have not been able to upgrade because they have some sort of issue with their upgrade button looping and being useless. Backstory is I cancelled the 17 pro max last year to get a bigger storage unit and then was told I could no longer upgrade because I cancelled. So I waited another year and they have since said they have a known issue that they haven’t fixed with “customers that cancelled an order” not being able to upgrade on the infinite plan. What is the point of infinite if I have been using the same phone for 2 years with 0 perks? As soon as i’m paid up i’m leaving them.

Discussion Boost Mobile: Why your phone might be silently using cellular data while you’re on Wi-Fi (and how to stop it)

I’ve seen a few posts and comments around our community lately from people noticing their high-speed data running down faster than expected—even when they spend most of their weekend hanging out on home Wi-Fi.

Whenever we help customers troubleshoot this, there isn't always one single culprit. Network traffic, app updates, and background syncing all play a role. But one huge potential reason for unexpected data drain is a default feature tucked away in both iOS and Android settings, designed to prioritize speed over saving your gigabytes.

We want to make sure you're getting every last drop of value out of your plan, so here is a quick way to check your phone and avoid losing cellular data unknowingly when you're sitting feet away from your router.

How Your Phone Quietly Switches Off Wi-Fi

Both major operating systems ship with an auto-failover feature enabled out of the box: Wi-Fi Assist on iOS, and Switch to Mobile Data (or Intelligent Wi-Fi) on Android.

The feature is meant to keep your streaming experience seamless. If your home Wi-Fi signal stutters, drops in the back room, or slows down for a second, your phone silently routes that connection over to your 5G/LTE service so your video doesn't buffer.

The catch? It does this in the background without sending a heads-up. If you’re streaming high-definition video or pulling down a large app update, your phone can silently burn through your high-speed cellular allowance while you think you're safely connected to home Wi-Fi.

How to Turn It Off in Seconds

If you want total control over when your phone uses cellular data—and want to prevent surprise data usage—you can tweak this in a few taps:

  • On iPhone (iOS): Go to Settings > Cellular, scroll all the way to the very bottom past your list of individual apps, and toggle off Wi-Fi Assist.
  • On Android: Go to Settings > Connections (or Network & internet) > Wi-Fi, tap Intelligent Wi-Fi (or the three dots / Network preferences), and turn off Switch to mobile data.

Once turned off, your phone will stay strictly on Wi-Fi whenever it's connected, even if the signal dips.

Question Service issues

I’ve had boost for the past 3 years, never had any issues with service. The past month or so my phone started working really slow. I figured maybe it was the phone being so old (iPhone 12) and bought a new phone (the 16e) I got it and set it up on Sunday, well I’m still having the same issues. I pretty much consistently have 1 bar of service, sometimes it will go up to 2 for a few minutes and then back to 1. I have tried to change settings and such, but nothing seems to be helping. Anyone have any suggestions or tips on what to do, because I’m getting very frustrated and thinking of switching providers.

Question Infinitely looping login failed message

I've tried the app (on Android), I've tried Chrome, I've tried Firefox. I just get a nonstop loop of "Oops! Login failed There was an error in your request to log in. Please try again."

It's clearly the right phone number because I get the 6 digit code, but when I enter the code, I just get this error and it's incredibly irritating. I got a text message about a tablet that I wanted to read, but I can't because the login is broken.

Discussion Ex-boost mobile employee

Hi, I won't give much of my information, but all you need to know, it's that I previously, was a boost mobile worker, I worked in one of the parts where boost feels most.... Unfair.... Customer service

And yes, I agree the service of boost mobile the service they give to customers when they need to solve a problem it's very poor... But it's not actually the fault of the employee

I had to wait a bit of time, so I'm free of my contract with boost so I can feel safe talking about this

The reason why customer service never solves stuff it's because there's a stupid AI evaluating you all the time, that AI it's even above your boss and yes, the AI listens the conversations, and it ensures you talk to the customer in the most sweet and careful way possible or guess what? -$80 from your paycheck if you don't follow this stupid rules, but ok, I understand that's fair

What's not fair, it's that the AI wants the employee to end the call as soon as possible and that the customer never calls again in at least 2 to 3 weeks

So boost doesn't want the employee to solver the problem they want the employee to get rid of the customer as soon as possible and that they never call again

I witness employees that actually care and try to solve customers problems, fix the signals, fix the issues, try to recover or compensate lost shipping or help the customer to get out of a usual boost mobile scam with theyr "free/cheap iphones" that end up putting you on a supper expensive plan without telling you

But the employees that try to help, are the ones that they get rid of since the damm AI recognizes that as being not efficient, too much time.... And that's bad for the AI....

In a if something happens and it's fault of boost mobile they don't let you say it... No no no... They make YOU SAY.... It's your fault... Boost mobile uses his employees... Yo shield themselves from the customers....

Employees have no guilt on this... Boost doesn't want to solve problems,.... They just want to get as much money as they can from theyr customers in the most scammy way possible and use workers as a meat shield making it seem like it's theyr fault....

I can't say how much time I worked for boost... Or how much time I waited to post this... But... Please believe me

Question Help with boost infinite plan

I canceled my line with boost mobile last month on the boost infinite plan, I owe for the 17 pro max I am keeping, 799.00, however on the final bill they are charging me for the 16 pro max I’ve not had for a year? It was turned back into Apple when I done my upgrade last year, Blake stated because it was sent to Apple I owe for the 16 pro max since it wasn’t returned to them. It’s not been on my bill at all and boost has not said anything to me nor was anything on my bill. I don’t know what I need to do? They want 459.00 for a phone I have not had in over a year please help?

My bill from 9/2025 shows payment of 16 pro max of 36/36 then the Oct bill to this year current only shows the 17 pro max payment 12 of 36

Question Has Boost stopped unlocking phones automatically?

Had to contact support in the app to get the phone unlocked after 13 months. At first the agent told me to call the boost number to cancel my service with boost and I told them I didn't want to cancel the service. Then they initiated the process to unlock the phone by sending an unlock code which required me to install a sim from another carrier to enter the unlock code.

Question Pixel 10a for $49.99 plus 2 months of Unlimited Premium ($169.99 total). Can I switch to a lower cost plan after 2 months?

Looking into getting the Pixel 10a through Boost, which is heavily discounted if you prepay for 2 months of Unlimited Premium. I'm already on Boost with the $10 a month plan on a really old phone. I'm confused about the terms of the contract if I go with the 2 months Unlimited Premium to unlock the discount. Would it be possible to pay the 2 month prepay and then go back to my $10 a month plan? Or am I locked into paying the $60 for the Unlimited Premium plan for a longer period? The only thing I could find in the FAQ was "If you received a special device discount, you are required to stay on an eligible plan until you qualify for a device upgrade."
