“I have spent years trying to understand how someone can dedicate his life to "saving babies" while ignoring one of his own. There is something deeply painful about watching your father fight for every cause other than you. It feels as though my dad’s pro-life values end ex utero.”

Hello, I am seeking information on emergency housing on behalf of my mom. She is in a partner situation that is unsafe for her. She has virtually no money other than what is left from her very small bi-weekly paycheck, no car, and she works pretty much downtown. If anyone has any information or can help in anyway please let me know. Thank you so much!

Did anyone see the insane fireball go across the sky a little before 8pm last night (Oct. 14 2026)? I thought I was losing it, it was incredible but saw a few other people on Facebook that saw it. Hoping someone captured a video!

I have 3 tickets to the Bluey Play tonight that I’m not going to use ( we were able to go last night - I had tickets for tonight but ended up not being able to go). I can transfer via Ticketmaster if anyone can use them.
EDIT: claimed. I highly recommend the show otherwise, the look on my daughter’s face the entire time was the best!!!
Enjoy!

Landlord decided not to renew our lease. Now we have 30 days to find somewhere else to live. How the hell am I supposed to afford application fees plus deposit plus first months rent plus a uhaul? Especially since I have to apply several places?
I have an esa dog and a cat. Doing the math, I think we can only afford 1400 or so a month, but im willing to commute longer distances if need be. Is there anywhere within 30 miles or so of boise that anyone knows about? We have until Sept. 13th.
Edit: Nov 13th.

House Joint Resolution 4 seeks to amend the state constitution so that voters no longer have any say in determining Idaho’s drug policies.

Hello!
I am looking for recommendations for a space to host a baby shower maybe 40 people in the Treasure Valley in January. Open to all types of venues or even Airbnb type places.
Thank you!!

Well, I bought 2 Book of Mormon Tickets at the Morrison Center for 4/1/27, only to find out that there are Treefort shows I want to go to that day. Does anyone have a different date they are interested in swapping out?

I’ve called the Flicks and searched a bit online but to the best of my knowledge it doesn’t seem like Boise is going to get any showings as the Flicks (the place that would show a smaller film) doesn’t have it listed. Not sure if it would get a huge audience here anyway and I’m sure it’s expensive to bring it.
I’m considering driving up to Portland to see it but not sure if anyone has info and thinks Boise may get it in a few weeks when the movie goes wide.
Anyone know anything or think we will get it?

Every neighborhood I've ever lived in Boise has had at least one or two dogs barking NONSTOP. I feel terrible for the animals, they sound genuinely unhappy. I have never heard this much barking anywhere else I've lived, I was born and raised very near to Boise and have lived in Many cities in several states. I've never heard so much constant barking in my life, it is all day and night.

Idaho is the last state with no financial disclosure for lawmakers, and the Legislature wants more power on this November’s ballot.
Here’s how we got here.

Does anyone know of any low cost flu shots or general pricing for them? I have no insurance (classic) and don’t wanna have it cost an arm and a leg

Curious is anyone knows if this is a real company? I pass it on state street daily and it is a worn down type building with luxury vehicles parked outside. Most of the vehicles have a dust layer on them, so they haven’t been moved for awhile. I googled and nothing related to Boise. So, can all of us just create a tax sheltered ministry?

The last item on our ballots (after the official state gun - seriously?!) is one where Ada County is seeking to perpetuate its current vehicle registration fee until 2046. This fee has been around since 1990, was last renewed in 2008 (and hasn't been raised since then, running $24-$40 depending on your car's age), and will expire in 2028 without further action like this ballot proposal. The fee generates about $14M annually, which Ada County Highway District uses discretionally for road improvement projects. I support prudent funding for roads projects, but questioned whether this ballot proposal, which locks in the existing fee structure for another 20 years, makes sense - versus, say, proposing a measure that authorizes a fee structure that is indexed to inflation. So, I emailed current ACHD Zone 3 Commissioner Miranda Gold, who's also on the ballot running for reelection, to ask why ACHD is pursuing a seemingly short-sighted funding measure. She replied (within 10 minutes!) with her insights, while exhibiting her commitment to transparency. She explained that ACHD did polling that indicated good support for retaining/extending the existing fee but less support if a fee increase was tied to the proposal. Since the funding is put to good use, ACHD felt that securing the existing funding and fee mechanism for another 20 years is prudent, minimally preserving that $14M annually. However, they also acknowledged that a fee increase may be sought in the future.
Here's what Miranda Gold shared in her email to me (and OK'd for me to post here on Reddit):
The Commission’s goal is not to lock in a low fee so we can quietly raise it later. The goal is to protect a funding source that voters have already supported, one that would disappear entirely if this measure fails. Losing $14M per year would have immediate, real consequences for road projects Ada County residents are counting on.
Idaho law allows ACHD to return to voters to adjust the fee structure in the future, but that would require another public vote—it’s not something the Commission can do unilaterally. Any future change would go back to the community, just as this one has.
I understand the concern about inflation eroding purchasing power over time. It’s a fair point, and one the Commission will need to grapple with. As more residents move to Ada County and register their vehicles, the amount of money the fee generates will increase as well. But securing what we have now is the responsible first step, not a promise that the current amount is forever sufficient.
So... two things came from this for me. First, even tho it doesn't seem like a particularly viable long-term strategy, I will be voting "Yes" on the ballot initiative to retain Ada County's vehicle registration fee (while also anticipating a proposal to increase the fee amounts some time in the future). Secondly, given her responsiveness, prudent leadership, and commitment to transparency, I'm also more confident than ever in voting to reelect Miranda Gold to ACHD Zone 3 Commissioner.

Got notification they are closing after decades in town. Any one got the details on the sudden closure or recommendations on a new optometry office?
