Commission Request Specific use case
Custom brush axe/machete I made for a game warden. I was talking shop with him and asked him what his work was like. When executing warrants on cartel grows they have to cut down hundreds and hundreds of plants. I asked him what kind of tools they used. He said some of them use loppers but it can get pretty awkward on uneven terrain and that he usually used a machete, but it didn't give him enough reach. I wanted to make him something that would beat his off the rack Gerber machete so I sent him a few sketches and he picked this design.
Blade: 10in long, 4in wide section of band saw blade from an industrial lumber mill. The little hook on the spine is there to "unzip" the grow tents without having to get on a ladder. Forge finish. Convex grind.
Collar: textured and press fit mild steel pipe. 1/4in wall thickness to bring the balance back a bit.
Handle: 24in hickory, blackened, tung oil finish
I told him to get back to me after he field tests it. Let me know what works, what could use some tweaking. Was a fun project overall.

Question Blade finish clean up question
I acquired this Cattaraugus 225 Q many moons ago from a friend of mine. This was supposedly his grand father’s knife during the Second World War. My young and dumb self ended up carrying it quite often, and used it to slice some limes for a Corona I was drinking lol. My question is, how should I clean up the finish? Before I had cut the lime, the blade was shiny and pristine. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Forged Blade A selection from my latest batch of my Blacksmith's Automatics
I've been playing around with forging the jackets on a curve and that's been a fun challenge. I'm really pleased with the action on these.
Last one is in forged titanium and AEBL.

Forged Blade First Puukko
My son asked for a Puukko a while back (posted the early stages here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bladesmith/s/DDDTg0VtKK)
Finally I had the time to get around to finishing it for him, and he's happy with it, so I'm happy with it 😅
Gave it a coffee patina and finished with a little WD-40 for added moisture protection (used what was on hand). The handle is brass, lilac, and moose antler.

Damascus / Pattern Weld Limited edition Browning repair
So my father has this 1980 limited edition German made folder that he really values. It has a chip near the edge. Browning doesn't fix these/have the facilities to do so. Should I sharpen this away? What would you suggest?

Commission Request Commission order of stag horn daggers with Damascus guards

I have completed this batch of commissioned daggers. Each dagger measures 15 inches overall and features a blade made of 440 stainless steel, Damascus steel guards, and handles made from natural stag horn, along with bull horn and brass spacers.
I’m really pleased with how the textures of the natural handles contrast with the polished blades and patterned guards.
What do you all think about the fit and finish?

Question Help needed - knife for daughter
I’m new to knife making but really enjoying the experience.
I want to make a knife for my daughter for her birthday.
She will be turning 11.
What type of all round knife could I make her?
I want something that can be used everyday.
She enjoys fishing and cooking.
It needs to be pretty simple given my skills are still developing.
Also, I only have two days to make it!!

Question Custom Katana creation workshop/process?
To preface, I know katanas can take a very long time to make. I am also open to smaller options like a wakizashi but really want to maintain the japanese sword asthethic rather than a small knife
My spouse and I are martial artists. He is a black belt in multiple martial arts including japanese jiujitsu and always talks about a tradition of receiving a sword that he unfortunately never got to participate in. We will be getting married and I'd like to at least get him a katana as a wedding gift, or even a pair of katana that we can display.
Is there any type of workshop where this would be possible to custom forge our own? We are fully willing to travel to Japan. even if we just are able to pick out the hilt, scabbard, style, hold similar katanas, etc and then receive it many weeks or months later, that would be ok as well.
Trying to make it as custom as possible and an interactive experience instead of just picking out things online, which feels like it cheapens the experience
