QUESTION Rare Specimen Surface Tension Dam HELP!!!

How am I supposed to bring this hat with me to the other side of this damn dam? All guides show an older version of this map where you could just toss it but it can't be done in the current build. Whose bright idea was it to make Gordon let go of physics objects after a certain speed?

If I remember correctly from my run, for some reason the hat gets teleported somewhere into the water where this picture as taken when you're flowing through the pipe. Just look around after getting out of the pipe. It SHOULD be there in the water somewhere.

I reloaded a save before this screenshot was taken and the hat shot to the other side of the riverbed, no wonder I didn't see it lol. Thanks
