(I'm not including the Squishy! Black Clover opening)
14th Place: sky & blue by GIRLFRIEND (8th opening)
Nothing against this song in general. I'm a firm believer that each and every single song in black clover is a banger. This one just didn't hit as hard as the others. It felt slightly repetitive and I personally wasn't into the tune but still a great solid song.
13th Place: PAiNT it BLACK by BiSH (2nd opening)
Ik this one is underrated to many and again, nothing against this song, it just doesn't hit as hard for me as the others do. The voice of the singer is a tad bit too high pitched to be my favourite but still a banger opening.
12th Place: RIGHT NOW by EMPiRE (9th opening)
I love the visuals and tone of this song a lot, and I think this has some amazing extraordinary vocals in the full version. But the short part that's used for the opening is just slightly repetitive for me. I really want to rank this higher but the others are just...
11th Place: Stories by Snow Man (11th Opening)
I love this song so much it pains me to put it this low. It's one of the softer and less intense openings but it's still so good and so soothing to listen to. But sadly it doesn't make it to the top 10s.
10th Place: Rakugaki Page by Kankaku Piero (6th opening)
It feels criminal to rank it this low because I still love this song so much. Like if you ask me to point out why it's so low I couldn't tell you. It's by the same artist who did the iconic first opening and it just hits a specific spot in my brain every time I listen to it.
9th Place: JUSTadICE by Seiko Oomori (7th opening)
Visuals in this one has just got to be one of my favourite in all of the openings. The arc this was set in is one of my absolute favourites and I feel like this perfectly embodies the Royal Knights arc.
8th Place: Black Catcher by Vickeblanka (10th opening)
Now look. I know this is like- one of, if not the most- popular and fan favourite black clover openings of all time and I understand the hype. You can disagree with this, and it's completely fine. I just think it hits a lot of people a lot more differently than it hits me. That's not to say it's a bad opening in any shape or form, it's still ranked higher than the 6th and 7th openings for me- which speaks for how good I find ir. I love the vocals and all the visuals throughout the different versions. But is it the one I'd pick in a burning building? I'm sorry. I was willing to rank it higher out of sheer peer pressure but this is the honest ranking.
7th Place: Guess Who Is Back by Koda Kumi (4th opening)
Ik a lot of people will probably scream at me for putting this one before Black Catcher. But I just can't explain the specific part of my brain this scratches each time I listen to it. It takes me back to the first time I listened to this opening and watched this arc, watched all of the black bulls in action. I was so hyped and adrenaline rushed through me like nothing else, I was truly obsessed with this arc. And the visuals are great too, along with the full version of the song. Top tier no doubt.
6th Place: Everlasting Shine by Txt (12th opening)
This arc was such a palette cleanser for me and I also love how soft and soothing the song is. It's like Stories but better. It's not as intense and sends goosebumps through me like so many other openings, but it still holds a very special place in my heart. 10/10 do recommend.
5th Place: Grandeur by Snow Man (13th opening)
This was my 4th favourite for so long it feels weird putting it in 5th. Damn. I debated whether to put it in 4th for a while before settling it here, and I'll debunk why in just a second. But about Grandeur- it's another that doesn't get talked about enough. It's so fun, it's so addicting, the visuals are mind-blowing, the full version is spectacular. It's one I'd classify as more of an 'edgier' opening for BC (if you could even classify it as that) alongside Black Catcher (especially after Stories and Everlasting Shine, both fluffier openings)
4th Place: Gamushara by Miyuna (5th opening)
I love love love love this one. Nothing to critique, putting it in 4th place still feels like robbing it. It makes me wanna scream in delight every time I listen to it. The witch's forest arc is again a favourite arc and I felt like this song perfectly encapsulated the feelings I felt while getting into that arc. Visuals, ones with Mars and Fama- stunning. Seriously how is this one so underrated I'll never understand. No notes.
3rd Place: Kienai Riyuu by Wanima (S2 opening)
I debated for a long time whether this was recency bias and I decided it's not. When I first listened to it it hit me with the same goosebumps that coursed through me when I watched Haruka Mirai play on my screen during Yami's first dimension slash. And if a song is good enough to elicit such strong emotions out of me, it does deserve to be placed this high. Some parts of it also reminds me of Gamushara and I can't get enough of how much I love this song. I was worried whether the 14th opening would live up to the hype and it was baseless worrying. And the visuals- don't even get me started.
2nd Place: Haruka Mirai by Kankaku Piero (1st opening)
I don't even think I need to say anything here. Goosebumps man. Sure, when I first listened to this song, I didn't have this strong of a connection. But overtime as my love for black clover grew and the moment I heard this song play during Yami's dimension slash during the fight with Zagred, I knew it was over. Man I love this song. It encapsulates everything I love about black clover and beyond it. Truly a work of art.
1st Place: Black Rover by Vickeblanka (3rd opening)
To no one's surprise. Now I have to say the visuals aren't the absolute best compared to every single other opening- which- okay. I love the visuals don't get me wrong. There's something deeply nostalgic about it. But compared to the other openings? But the reason it's in first place is because the vocals are stronger than every single other opening combined- not to say they don't hold a candle to this one, they do- this one's just significantly better imp. It's something I listen to constantly when I have a bad day because this song knows how to uplift my mood like no other. Black Rover for the win man.

Almost all of Black Clover’s comparisons to Naruto are very surface level and this one of the epitome of that

I genuinely think asta is such a badass for saying, "We are not the same and we are forcing you to atone." Alot of other protagonists would simply agree to work with the villain. Asta strongarming rades into being an ally is amazing. I genuinely think this just adds to how strong asta's convictions are. Sure they are both fighting against patry but asta is doing it to protect others and he isn't going to be someone enabling a revenge scheme.

From a corrupt Captain, to a Vice Captain who abuses his power, to the planned murder of a fellow squad mate, to countless other crimes associated with their Squad. At that point why didn't the Captains or Julius keep more detailed tabs on the Orcas?
Especially after getting confirmation of all of these rumors more than likely being true after the betrayal from Gueldre. And most likely them having countless witnesses and testifiers accors the kingdom's citizens. They weren't even discreet about their behavior either since Xerx threatened an old lady in broad day light in the middle of town.
The assassination of Zara Ideale not getting any traction isn't surprising given the Clover Kingdoms view on Peasants, but Julius didn't bother to look into it either? He respected Zara and didn't have any negative perception of the lower class. And given that he knew Zora and that he was the son of Zara, wouldn't Zora hunting down corrupt magic knights (90% of them being Orcas) be enough reason for him to start keeping close tabs on the Squad?
Even the other Captain's are aware of all the rumors surrounding the Orcas, yet they just don't care to look into it nor mention it seriously up until Gueldre is revealed as a traitor? As if they are just dodging taxes or something, and not putting the very lives of the citizens they are trying to protect in jeopardy?
At that point, why does the squad even exist anymore? There are 8 OTHER Squads, and the non-corrupt Orcas can just be reassigned under other squads to not so drastically decrease the kingdoms man power, and to not condemn the non-guilty or complacent members. And just arrest the known criminals, and interrogate the ones under suspension. Even Kaiser the new Captain doesn't seem to care to revamp the Squad's reputation as he still keeps Xerx as it's VC.

I think Yuno is a really cool character because he's the perfect blend of rival and best friend to asta. I think yuno as a character is super slept on or just hated for dumb reasons. Now if you hate sylph/bell go right ahead she's bland, not just 1 note but as shallow as a tear drop. This post is not about sylph, sylph is probably the worst character you're supposed to get attached to in black clover because she's the only thing I'll actually say holds yuno back. Now keep in mind I only know stuff past the training part of the heart kingdom arc through wikis, but I genuinely think Slyph is a much more bland and irritating version of Gauche in terms of gimmicks. Gauche does care about his friends, even if he's mostly centered on Marie, and he literally befriends Grey and Gordon closely and actually develops, Sylph just is obsessed with Yuno and is an asshole to everyone else and mocks Asta which gets old really fast and on rewatch is the parts I mostly just roll my eyes at.
Now onto the actual good stuff. I think the opening arc gives us the perfect showcase of Yuno's character and going forward is the basis of what makes him great in other arcs. He's an orphan boy, raised as a commoner, treated as trash and lesser by nobles, but unlike asta who had literally nothing, no mana or anything, yuno literally was the one who was mature and got blessed with everything. Yuno had been gifted with a boatload of magic and was literally born lucky. He got wind magic which is very versatile, and he's literally beloved by everyone. Now while asta was teased, he wasn't hated by Hage. No everyone loves asta, asta is kind and sweet and constantly helps others. He's just really brash and determined to a fault.
Yuno however had admired asta because before becoming the stoic, collected badass he is modern day, he literally was a crybaby who always was sensitive and cried about everything. He wasn't made fun of for it either so it wasn't something external that made him change. What made him change was 1 incident, during a snowy night. The thing that created the change in Yuno, is when a thief stole a pendant from yuno, the thief held an upper hand and yuno couldn't muster the magic to do it. However, suddenly asta rushed the guy. Now this should be when asta loses badly and gets humiliated, but his determination was so great, he was looking utterly feral when trying to beat the guy. The guy gave up due to being freaked out by asta, but asta was severly hurt. And it was that day that yuno made it his goal that he wanted to become the wizard king and that asta and yuno would be rivals. Now this backstory is only part because I do know part of how yuno was a noble from the spade kingdom but his family were all wiped out and he ended up in hage, but honestly that functionally only means he has heritage and magic that is not known to him. In practical terms, this does nothing but contextualize why yuno was gifted, because Yuno doesn't know he's a noble and he's treated like a commoner by people anyways.
We get to present day, and while yuno is cold and aloof, he does protect asta at the grimoire ceremony and is the one who motivates asta to keep fighting and to not give up even after Revchi literally said to him he has no magic and no hope of being the wizard king. What I like about Yuno that sets him apart from alot of other rivals is that yes, he's cold and kinda distant, but he's not just some asshole who looks down upon people. He's very respectful and caring to others and treats others with compassion like he does. But he's also not just buddy buddy either, like some pokemon rival like May or Bianca. Yuno is serious and does tease asta alot and also is very blunt and direct about how he feels. He's not going to sugar coat that he thinks asta is an idiot but he also won't sugarcoat how great asta is.
Now the easy direction to take some gifted rival is to make it so he doesn't work hard at all and is lazy before getting humbled by something. But the thing that makes Yuno so great, is that he works his ass off too. I know it doesn't look like it because how crazy strong yuno gets and the fact that Yuno literally gets a 4-leaf grimoire episode 1, but bro is no slacker. The moment he sees that asta has his grimoire and has his anti-magic sword, yuno goes into the forest and starts training his ass off. Like he knows asta will grow strong so he needs to keep ahead. I think yuno's powerups are earned for the most part because we see that he takes his training seriously and he also takes his opponents seriously.
I also just genuinely think yuno's bond with his squad is really well developed and his squad is such a great contrast to asta's squad. For asta this is the first place that welcomes and accepts him fully and the place he can call home. The Black bull's members are his family and they're composed of people who to various degrees understand his plight and understand what he's gone through and can empathize with him. Meanwhile you have the golden dawn, the cream of the crop squad that's meant to be really cool and something to be admired and it's filled with nobles and half of those nobles are bigoted and literally need to be shown better in order to change their ideals. I just love the dichotomy and I'll make another post on how genius the purple orcas are in terms of storytelling but now I'm going to just yuno is pretty badass.
One of my favorite moment of Yuno's has to be when he defends asta from sekke's poison lizard. Bro the hawk just out nowhere swoops down and calmly intimidates sekke to back off. I rewatch that moment so much.

Got the large silver version. Cost a pretty penny but I never wear anything on my body so I thought why not an art piece. Good thing I bought it when I did bc they are on backorder pretty much since the first day out?

Me and my friends just watched episode 142-148 and we are really interested in Dazu's story. But now our friend group is divided in two. One side believes she was genuinely abused by her husband and mocked by her mother in law, the other side, the one I'm on, is that her husband and mother in law were actually good people. It's just that because she's been neglected her whole life, she thought everything she did was being mocked. And yes, we did discuss the "useless wench" part, but some of us think that he actually didn't call her that and she was hallucinating because she was previously mentioned to be tired and was going through a lot of stress and self loathing, not to mention the secret lesbian affair. So what do you guys think? Was she actually abused or was it all in her head. (Sorry if someone's made a post similar to this, I did not find any, I'm not trying to copy them)
