I lived in Lexington as a kid and I love the directions to get there: drive past the castle, turn off the paved road….

Funny how the angle of the barrel matches precisely what the wheels of a train do to remain on the tracks.

I'm not a physicist or an engineer, but Richard Feinman was, and this made me remember this interview he did thats on YouTube. There's a longer version but this clip is just two minutes. Anyway, the barrel stays on the track because of its beveled design.

Edit, sometimes I forget what sub I'm in. This is a train sub, everyone probably already knows this. My B, but it's a great interview so I'm leaving the link

Everyone on the Island of Sodor were amazed seeing what Stephen looked like as a baby. "He's just rolling along on his boiler!", exclaimed Percy.

In 1814, London had a beer flood which killed eight people, including five mourners at the wake for a two year old boy. The brewery avoided bankruptcy by claiming an excise rebate on the lost beer.
In 1875, Dublin had a whiskey fire / flood - no-one was killed directly, but 13 people died of alcohol poisoning.
Russia's contribution was a 2017 spillage of fruit juice that allegedly resulted in no deaths and no aquatic contamination

Interesting by itself—but also: I hadn’t considered “undiluted cask strength” with respect to alcohol production until this very moment.

The dramatic text makes this feel like the opening scene of a very chaotic brewery commercial.

Right? Where does one sign up to be the guy drinking next to the tracks, yelling “DING DING DING CHOOOO CHOOOO?”

Doesn’t it need multiple cars or barrels to be a train.

You know, I asked the same thing for an excavator on rails, and apparently all it technically needs is a red light on the back.

I wanna see the whole thing start to finish and how they use it in their internal logistics.

Part of the reason why there are so many slopes and ramps in old port towns, both ocean and river.
So many goods were transported via barrels and casks. Easy to roll them around to move them short distances.
