Online Communities I hate when craft subreddits downvote a perfectly reasonable and polite question that they think is dumb
This really gets on my nerves with all kinds of subreddits tbh, but today I saw an example that really peeved me.
Someone in the quilting sub asked whether quilters would pay for a service where someone researches fabrics and pitches designs, including info on how much fabric to buy, for people who feel overwhelmed by the piecing process. OP said they really like doing all that research and are wondering if there's a market for it.
The post itself is heavily downvoted. All of the comments are some variety of "no, this literally makes no sense, why would anyone want this. no one wants this." And OP would reply politely with things like "thanks for your input!" and then those responses would get downvoted.
I hate when people treat the downvote button like it's a way to say "no" to a yes or no question. Like sure, I understand that the answer to OP's question is "no, it seems like most quilters like that part so it probably wouldn't be worthwhile." That doesn't mean it's an absurd question, and OP was not even being rude. They were perfectly polite the entire time but everyone was like, "i hate this idea!! must downvoted to convey that I disagree!!"
