ποΈ Relocation Info ποΈ Expat buying a vehicle in Belize
Are there any expats reading this who know anything about purchasing a vehicle in Belize?
I'm traveling from Canada and will be in Belize for a while and plan to purchase a truck and ultimately drive it back home to Canada.
From what I've read though it sounds like most vehicles are pretty beat up, and very expensive. The plan is evolving and I'm now more likely to but a truck in Guatemala, but ideally I can make it happen in Belize.
Any tips?

π« Travel Info 𧳠Female Solo Traveler- where to stay?
Hi! I want to take a solo trip to Belize for my 30th birthday in a few weeksβIβm thinking on staying 5 nights Sat-Thurs! I want to have a well-rounded experience of beach lounging, water + jungle adventure, cultural experiences, and easy accessibility/walkability.
Iβm torn between Placencia and San Pedro. From my research, San Pedro is very touristy while Placencia is a bit slower paced. Iβm leaning toward Placencia, I just donβt know if Iβll be able to access all the excursions I want to experience. Iβd prefer not to book multiple accommodations. What would you do??? Thanks in advance!

π« Travel Info 𧳠Indian Citizen with US L1B Visa traveling to Belize in November β Clarification on Repatriation Fee & Border Taxes?
Hey everyone,
I am an Indian citizen currently living/working in the US on a valid, multiple-entry U.S. L1B visa. I am planning a tourist trip to Belize in November 2026 and have been doing a lot of research regarding entry requirements, but I am finding some conflicting information online.
I know that having a valid, multiple-entry US visa generally grants visa-free entry or a visa-on-arrival to Belize, but I have a few specific questions regarding fees especially because I might do a mix of flying and land border crossings via Guatemala.
If anyone with a similar passport/visa situation has made this trip recently, I would love your insight on these specific questions:
- Repatriation Fee: Some older travel blogs and Wikipedia pages mention an exorbitant "repatriation fee" of BZD 1,200 (~US$600) on arrival for certain nationalities, including India. Does this apply if I hold a valid U.S. L1B visa, or is it completely waived? Is there any repatriation fee when leaving by land to Guatemala or by air back to the USA?
- Arrival Fees: Are there any official entry fees or charges when arriving by flight from the USA, or when crossing the land border from Guatemala into Belize?
- Departure Tax via Air: What is the current departure tax when flying out of Belize (BZE) back to the USA? Is this usually bundled into the airline ticket price, or do I need to pay it in cash at the airport?
- Departure Tax via Land: What is the exact departure tax when exiting Belize via the land border into Guatemala? I read itβs around BZD 40 (US$20) can someone confirm if this must be paid strictly in cash?
- Land vs. Air Rules: Do any visa requirements or entry permissions change depending on whether I fly into Belize versus crossing over by land from Guatemala?
I want to make sure I have the correct amount of cash on hand and don't encounter any surprises at immigration. Any recent experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much in advance!

π¬ Transportation π San Pedro to Belize City
I'm looking to book an excursion that requires a flight from San Pedro to Belize City on a Saturday. The company is advising not to book on a Saturday because flights can be difficult for that day. Has anyone had any issues with the short flight on Saturdays?

π« Travel Info 𧳠Two Days in San Pedro - Local Recommendations
We will be new to San Pedro and Ambergris, but not Belize, visiting some time in late January or early February (we have flexibility). For background, we first visited Belize in 2019 and loved everything about it. We've spent time in San Ignacio, Bullet Tree Falls, Placencia and Caye Caulker over the years. We bought a place in Caye Caulker 1 1/2 years ago and have spent the bulk of our time there. We've done many of the main attractions on the mainland and have snorkeled several times.
CC is definitely our speed but we would like to finally check out San Pedro. We understand it will be much busier and more touristic. We plan to take the ferry over one morning, spend a night, and return the following afternoon.
I'm interested in local recommendations, both in town as well as farther out on Ambergris. I know there will be many more golf carts there than CC but we're willing to rent one to explore the island. Not interested in things like Secret Beach - CC has a couple of nice spots that are way lesser known if we want beach.
I know there will be lots more restaurants, nightlife, etc. than CC. Any recommendations for off-the-beaten path, interesting things to do?

Hello, a friend and i want to take a weekend trip to belize in early november. Hoping to do 3 nights of trekking/backpacking. Want to see some cool shit. I was looking into Chiquibul, but not a lot of info. Im young and have trekked quite a bit.
Is belize a good idea? I want to see maya remains, jungle, caves or sinkholes, rivers, the Natural Arch or similar karst formations, and areas with very little visitor traffic.

π§ Activities π£ββοΈ Belize recommendations for Christmas
Hey everyone! My partner and I are visiting Belize around Christmas - New Yr time and looking for recommendations on where to stay. Weβre thinking of doing a scuba diving course for a few days, so would love suggestions for good, reasonably priced places to stay and budget-friendly dive schools that youβd recommend. Safety is a priority, of course, but good value is always a bonus!

π§ Activities π£ββοΈ Specific fishing rules?
Headed to Ambergris Caye in Dec and planning to mostly Spearfish and freedive/scuba dive.
I feel like I have a very good handle on the closed zones and general regs listed online. There are some specifics I cannot find anywhere if someone with local experience knows.
-Regulations on spotted and slipper lobster? All info I can find seems specific to Carribean spiny lobster(Panulirus argus). Are the other species closed by default, or open with no real regulations?
-daily limits? Are there species specific daily limits or overall catch daily limits like in Mexico? I'm only harvesting an amount my partner and I would eat so not much. I don't see any limits listed for any species down there though.
Thanks for any tips and info. I do plan to talk to a dive shop/charter once down there as well regarding regs and to book a few days freedive spearfishing and scuba diving to mpa's. Just trying to get a head start on info.
