Internal HDD only allows NTFS file system, what do I do?
i'm preparing to move to bazzite, and i saw i have to format my drives to compatible file systems for it, but when i click the dropdown, only NTFS is there, there isn't an option for Ext4 or BTRFS.
will i still be ok to use it?
or will the option(s) appear once bazzite is installed (currently still windows 11, backing up files as we speak)?
my only experience with linux is my steam deck, so i'm feeling very fish out of water.

Why do I get a critical SSD overheating warning?
I was playing and a notification popped up saying my NVME SSD was overheating. Obviously I panicked a bit as I have an SSD from an era when heat sinks on them wasn't common. Somewhere I found the sensor data and it said it is 40C, I touched with my finger in my PC and it was barely warm.
So why did it gave a critical warning if it was nowhere close to being dangerous?
Almost everything is on default, I just changed from a different distro (formatted the drive) and I didn't have time to mess around with it.

Sound is shite
Just realized, my headphones are way more capable on my shitty phone than Bazzite. I have to "overclock" my sound at a minimum of 125% and get warnings of hearing damage. Yet the shitty phone from 5 years ago undestands the volume and sound quality.
So what's up with that?

Is Bazzite Peak?
I have been using it for a little over a year (the Gnome) version and I've never encountered any instability. I've tried a few other distros but nothing seems to compare with the stability and reliability of Bazzite on my system.
Not to mention the Goated Bazaar store, the updater which is incredibly easy to use, the rollback feature of OStree in case anything breaks (though I've never had to use it).
I literally haven't needed to touch the terminal in months apart from when taking this photo.
So I ask, is Bazzite truly the peak of Linux distros?

Thinking of switching to Bazzite for the immutability. Has anyone been able to have success with the Cosmic DE while using Steam for gaming etc? Otherwise I'll pick Gnome until Cosmic is ready
Basically, title :)

Xodus Nexus: an open-source launcher for Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass
Hi everyone! I’m building Xodus Nexus, an open-source desktop launcher that lets you install and run Microsoft Store PC games on Linux, including games available through PC Game Pass.
This is a solo project I work on in my spare time, built on top of Xodus. My goal is to make the process approachable: sign in with your Microsoft account, find a game in your library, download it and hit Play.
The launcher now includes:
- A library combining games you own, games available through your subscription and local installations, with search and filters.
- Update notifications for the launcher, plus backend and runtime updates through Settings.
It’s available as an AppImage. The backend and runtime can be downloaded from Settings, so there’s no need to compile them yourself.
Current manually tested results:
- Gears of War: E-Day, playable online.
- Deep Rock Galactic, playable online.
- Minecraft Dungeons II, playable online.
- No Man’s Sky, playable online.
- Forza Horizon 6, playable online.
- Palworld, playable online.
- Valor Mortis, fully playable.
Xbox sign-in and cloud saves also work in supported games.
This is still experimental, not a promise that your whole Game Pass library will work. Some games run, others have missing functionality or won’t launch. I keep a compatibility list with actual test results.
You need your own Microsoft account and a valid purchase or subscription. This isn’t a source of free games, and the project isn’t affiliated with Microsoft or Xbox.
Code, downloads, screenshots and compatibility:
github.com/domsvoboda/xodus-nexus
If you try it, I’d appreciate feedback on both the launcher and game compatibility. Tell me your distro, the game you tried and how far you got, including whether sign-in, gameplay, saves and multiplayer worked. Reports help me decide what to tackle next.
For transparency, I use AI tools during reverse engineering.

Fixed Discord PTT in Bazzite with Gnome and Wayland
TLDR: https://github.com/maksvini/gppt/tree/main
Little bit longer story, I've been struggling with push to talk on Bazzite since I first installed. The OS came with Discord already installed as a flatpak IIRC, and if not then I installed it, but from day one the push to talk only worked in steam and games launched directly by steam.
I did a lot of reading about Wayland, Compositors, and Gnome. I tried Vesktop (flatpak and direct vs rpm-ostree) as well as the rpm-ostree version Discord but nothing seemed to actually resolve the issue. Other solutions either didn't work or wanted me to have compilers (golang, gcc, etc) installed that weren't already installed (and I didn't want to make the rpm-ostree mods).
The solution above worked, required only a single python library to be added, and honestly seemed like the most "native" solution since it didn't try to adjust window focus or otherwise inject events into Discord. It feels a little bit like using a sledge hammer on a nail, but after the amount of time I spent trying to solve what should be a trivial use case I'm mostly glad the saga is over.
I'm happy to discuss other specifics, but mostly just wanted to share this given the amount of time I spent pouring over reddit and other sites when I was trying to find a solution.
Microsoft visual 2015-2022 error
Shows up on my non steam games even after downloading and running the vcredist successfully (both 64 and 86).
Tried looking through other threads but none have fixed it yet.
Currently on an intel i7-137k with an RTX 4070 and 32 gb ram

Index or Frame?
ignore the Linux version in the screenshot it's old and I can't make one right now it's just for my specs
Hello Bassiters.
I come with a question if someone has the experience with either the Index or the Frame working with bazzite.
I want to buy a headset and I am on the wait-list for the frame but there is also a very good discount for the index.
My question comes from the fact that I tried setting up vr with my very old HTC Vive set but it just refused to work mostly because of steamVR I think. I'm not very well in all the Linux magic so any source I found ended up being a dead end or too complicated for me. And that makes me second guess the Index option.
So yeah anyone already got the frame or tinkered with the index with a AMD Ryzen and Radeon PC?

Bazzite 44 shrinking partition (Legion Go 2)
I just installed bazzite 44 and had no problems with 43 on almost every handheld I've ever owned, but now on 44 on my Go 2, my partition for bazzite keeps shrinking on every boot and keeps signing mr back into steam over and over again till I have barely any space to do anything and my system locks up and restarts over and over. I've swapped back to steam os for the meantime but I've always liked bazzite more and just want it to work. I've also tried rolling back to 43 but the shrinking partition thing does the same thing on that version. Literally never had this problem until I was forced to use this update of bazzite. Any answers would be welcome. (I have also followed some of the guide on bazzites site and nothing has been solved so far, haven't read everything yet)

Antivirus software for Bazzite?
For context I am fairly new to Bazzite and have done a *little* bit of research on this question. It seems like viruses are so uncommon on Linux that its not really a thing to have an antivirus software running?
Main thing is if I were to install a malicious file how would I know? How do you remove it without a tool like Malwarebytes? (Wouldn't dare touch something like McAffee or Norton lol)
And yes I get it, don't go to sus websites etc or untrusted sources, just trying to understand how to protect my device (also I did turn the hard drive encryption on, not sure if that would help in such a scenario).

Why isn't fingerprint login supported in KDE?
The one significant quibble I've had with the switch from Windows to Bazzite last year was the inability to use my fingerprint to log in from boot. It works great from the lock screen and with sudo, but I was under the impression that fprint login would be implemented with the new Plasma Login Manager and Fedora 44.
So I'd like to know why it isn't supported, when that might change, and if there is a workaround specifically in bazzite that anyone knows about.

Can't allocate more than 10,207 MB of disk space for Bazzite dual boot with Windows
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to set up a dual boot with Windows and Bazzite, but I'm having trouble partitioning my SSD.
When I try to shrink my Windows partition using Disk Management, Windows only allows me to shrink it by 10,207 MB (around 10 GB), even though I want to free up much more space for Bazzite.
I've tried troubleshooting the issue and even reset my PC, but the problem remains exactly the same. The maximum shrinkable space is still 10,207 MB.
I've also tried looking at Disk Management settings, but I haven't been able to solve it.
How can I properly shrink my Windows partition and allocate around 100–200 GB for Bazzite without losing my Windows installation or personal files?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

First desktop image build!
Wanted a PC for my office to use for various projects like CAD and video editing. Absolutely shocked and impressed by how compatible Linux and Bazzite are with all of the apps I use from Windows and MacOS.
Build itself is a BC250 in a 3d printed case
