Cold start RPM jumping straight to 4,000 RPM (Idling issue) — Throttle cable or sensor/ECU?

Hey everyone,

A few days back, whenever I start my bike, the cold idle shoots straight up to around 4,000 RPM on its own, instead of settling at the usual 1,200–1,500 RPM range.

A couple of my friends riding similar bikes have started facing the exact same issue recently. One of them already replaced the throttle cable, but the problem persists, meaning it isn't just a physical cable snag or tight routing.

My bike is currently at the authorized service center to get looked at, but they typically start with basic guesswork. Has anyone dealt with this specific 4k RPM idle surge? Is it more likely a faulty IACV (stepper motor), a Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) glitch, an intake manifold air leak, or an ECU mapping bug?

Any pointers or solutions from people who managed to fix this would be really helpful!

Is this ticking noise normal on my 2026 Pulsar N160 SS 4V? Only 630 km ridden

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone,

I own a 2026 Bajaj Pulsar N160 SS 4V, and my bike has covered only around 630 km so far.

I've noticed something that I'm a little concerned about. When I cold-start the bike early in the morning, the engine sounds very quiet, with almost no noticeable ticking noise. However, after riding approximately 20 km and allowing the engine to heat up, I start hearing a distinct tick-tick-tick-tick sound from the engine.

From what I've read, engine oil is more viscous when cold and becomes thinner as it heats up. I'm wondering whether this change in viscosity makes normal valve-train or tappet noise more noticeable once the engine is warm.

However, since the bike has covered only 630 km, I'm also concerned about whether this could indicate an issue with the tappet clearance, valve train or something else.

Could you please watch the attached video and share your experiences?

Thanks!

Motul 7100 20W-50 vs Castrol POWER1 ULTIMATE 20W-50 vs Bajaj 20W-50 for Pulsar N160 SS

I own a 2026 Bajaj Pulsar N160 SS 4V, and my owner's manual recommends 20W-50, API SN, JASO MA2.

I'm considering switching from the Bajaj 20W-50 engine oil supplied by Hindustan Petroleum to a fully synthetic oil.

My options are:

- Motul 7100 20W-50

- Castrol POWER1 ULTIMATE 20W-50

- Bajaj 20W-50 (HP)

For people who have used these oils, which would you recommend for the N160?

I'm mainly looking for good engine protection, smoother gear shifts, consistent performance and long-term reliability. Is fully synthetic oil actually worth the extra cost compared with the recommended Bajaj oil?

My main concern with the Bajaj oil is that it isn't advertised as fully synthetic. Also, some previous N160 generations recommended 10W-50, whereas the latest 2026 4V model specifies 20W-50. I'm curious about why Bajaj changed the recommended viscosity. My bike generally feels good, but I sometimes notice a slightly sluggish feeling while changing gears. It doesn't happen every time, but I'm wondering whether the engine oil could be contributing to it.

Would appreciate genuine owner experiences and suggestions. Thanks!

Vibration specific to 6500 rpm

I have Bajaj Dominar 400 UG. After a high-temperature warning, I bump-started the motorcycle. A short while after it started, a knocking noise began coming from the engine block. When we dismantled the engine for repairs, we found that the piston rings had seized and damaged the cylinder surface. The original cylinder, piston, and piston ring set were replaced with genuine OEM parts. However, even after completing the break-in period, I noticed a significant increase in vibration at exactly 6500 RPM. Everything feels normal at lower and higher RPMs, but the vibration becomes noticeably stronger specifically and only at 6500 RPM.

Changed parts: Cylinder, piston, ring set, cylinder bearing, thermostat, temperature sensor, Chain set.

Not Changed: The engine lower block was not opened, and the crankshaft, crank arm, balancer were not opened and touched.

Need help using 99RPM store credits — looking for someone who wants to buy something from the site

Hey everyone,

I recently ordered a BCU (Body Control Unit) for my Bajaj Pulsar from 99RPM, costing ₹2,383.

Unfortunately, the BCU wasn't compatible with my bike, so I contacted their customer support and successfully returned the product.

However, instead of refunding the amount to my original payment method or bank account, 99RPM credited the amount as store credits, which can only be used to purchase products on their website.

I now have 2,049rs as store credit(They took some amount as restocking fee).

I don't have anything else to buy from 99RPM, so the store credits are pretty much useless to me right now.

I'm wondering if anyone here is planning to purchase something from 99RPM. If you are, I could place the order for you using my store credits, and you could transfer the equivalent amount to my bank account. That way, you get the product you need, and I can recover the money stuck in my store credits.

Of course, we'd discuss the details beforehand and make sure both parties are comfortable with the arrangement.

If anyone is interested, please comment below or DM me.

I'd also appreciate any suggestions if someone has successfully managed to get a refund from 99RPM store credits to their original payment method.

Thanks for reading, and any help would be appreciated! 🙏

Have you fixed Pulsar NS400z unstability?

My Pulsar NS400z 2026 has about 2500km. I still haven't been able to fix the unstability (yes, I knew this wasn't a very stable bike from the get-go, but mine is beyond normal). I have already changed the rear shock setup, changed the tires, swapped the oil for the fork tubes for one with higher density, but it keeps bouncing a lot.

What solutions have you found? Have you changed the monoshock for the one the Dominar 400 uses? I'm open to recommendations.

How long do parts take ?

I ordered the left mirror and both foot pegs and rear peg holder for my NS200 2023 I think late August and I literally signed the register that named these parts

Fast forward a month and I called them again , they said it's been dispatched so about 5-7 business days and I was okay with it bu I got busy due to exams and all

Today I visited them in person , asked for the parts and they say the parts haven't arrived yet , I was wtf you mean ? You said it's been dispatched, and the guy says that everything is taking longer due to festivals etc etc

It's been months I rode my bike normally as I had a crash and it wasn't too serious so no insurance and now these service guys are delaying it even further

He told me to go for aftermarket parts as it wouldn't be too different, what should I do ?
