Hey fellas! So I'm a big naval history and naval videogame enthusiast. I play naval strategy games like Star Wars Empire at War (Awakening of the Rebellion being my favorite mod for its deeper strategy, and in this context it's naval battles) and I've played War on the Sea a bit. I found BFGArmada and was wondering how it compares specifically to my preferred game of Star Wars Empire at War (AotR). I know its a margin more complex with ship mods and more in-depth maneuvering. I'm wondering if y'all have any more insight or information generally about the game and anything pertaining to my question.

Reworked Pride of the Emperor for the update for Skalgrim Mod. This is a true bastard of a ship. As in the lore its worth noting that this Gloriana was an insanely well crafted vessel, which took twice as long to build compared to others like it. It was built in the shipyards of Jupiter, overseen by the Fabricator of Mars himself, every detail handcrafted by the best artisans and engineers. In battle it crippled the heavily armored Iron Hands flagship, the Gloriana class Fist of Iron but the Pride of the Emperor was itself crippled later on in the aftermath of the Horus Heresy in battle against a large Ultramarine fleet.

Just a minor update, as I have not stopped working on the mod and the massive 2.3 update. Reworked the Iron Blood, making it a much more "siege" focused ship with a super heavily armored prow, four of the newly made triple barreled super heavy macro turrets, and a new custom heavy plasma turret as well. It fires salvos of rockets from its prow, and will also get a big helping of Melta and standard torpedoes.

I really like the current pool of ships for some factions, notably the Imperium, and I have played with Skalgrim but me personally I dislike the "cobbled together" appearance of many of the new ships. Are there any mods that add ships that still fit a vanilla feel/appearance?

So, I'm playing the first game and despite the game being fps capped with vsync, my poor old RTX 2060 super starts howling like a warp spawn and the GPU usage in the task manager jumps to 100%.

Oddly, the rest of the game is fine.

How can I prevent this?

I been wanting how certain fleets do against each other for a while now, for example I recently discovered the an exorcist with an imperial frigate, and a executor with a Idolator both cost 240 points, and that the difference in there dpm is only 10 off in favor of the imperials, so I want to see those fiight just for the heck of it. furthur more is there a way to spectate a fight?

me and a friend are trying to do a co-op campaign but i cant see the ui in battles, does anyone know a workable fix for this problem.

Hi! i am trying to get into mod and the first step tell to put that into the launch option and it should say stormancer disable, but it just...doesnt? What am i doing wrong?

Haven't even finished one campaign yet, but it feels like I am rushing from one story mission to another, so I don't get crushed by the threat level (which has cost me a few imperial campaigns already)

Is there a mod that makes like a randomly generated set of sectors that let the factions set their own borders? Something like Empire at War? I love the combat, but the campaign map doesn't feel all that satisfying. I hate the story missions difficulty curve/feeling rushed to do them.

i got a few questions:

how to i keep ships in formation without constant micro management? there must be a feature to makes sure your escorts do not always outrun the bigger ships and leave both isolated.

is there any way to view all your weapon firing arcs at the same time and keep that turned on, its hard to know what ship does what in what arc, especially when stuff like abilities assault actions etc. are added in, its all very overwhelming.

some tips on how to maybe go about building my first fleet without getting too confused and making two of my starting ships/captains worthless?

what ships especially early game are worth the effort and easy to manage for a new player?

I'm guessing admiral spires Torpedo Bonus makes it a good idea to stick with IN ships for the most part. was thinking about a torpedo and gun heavy build, to keep management more simple.

I recently downloaded the skalgrim mod after getting decent at the game and wanting more out of it. After playing around with it a little, I feel like I enjoy some aspects but not others. I really appreciate the new ships, both gameplay and lore-wise. I feel like they give more options to factions that need it while also giving the game well needed, lore-friendly flair. However, I don't appreciate the adjusted ship point costs. While bigger ships seem to remain about the same point price, smaller ships are significantly cheaper. At first, I thought I liked this as it gave me more fleet building options. But after playing around with it, I find I dislike the adjusted point values. Mostly, it makes every fleet feel like a massive fleet. I have too many smaller vessels to manage most of the time, especially since I like making use of light cruisers, which makes the game micro-intensive. I thought the solution to this would be spending more points on larger vessels to hopefully achieve a similar ship count to vanilla, but this just makes it so that my normal amount of light cruisers and escorts can't keep up with the larger ai vessels. I hope that makes sense.

Somehow, the skalgrim mod has made the game more difficult for me. I have mixed feelings about it since I really do enjoy the new ships. I just don't like how the point cost of ships has been adjusted. Is there any mod that might make the ship costs more like their vanilla prices. Or maybe there is a new fleet building philosophy that could help me? I would really like to keep the new content the mod offers without sacrificing the vanilla experience aspects I enjoy.

Any games that have space battle like Armada 2? Seems like nothing modern has released and I'd like a good ol' space battle simulator.

Just crippled myself trying to help these stupid elves, killed the inquisitor, and now I need to FIGHT THE ELVES THAT ARE MEANT TO HAVE COMPLETELY VANISHED FROM THE SYSTEM.

I bought Battle fleet gothic armada 1 and 2 without knowing nothing about them.
I played teh campaing on normal and lost on episode 3.
I played caping again on easy and I just cant win.
The game asks me to defend a plaform, but enemy ships kill them on 5 shots.
another one is to chase ships, my ships cant for the love of the emperor match half the speed even on turbo.
I've read a lot of 'tips and tricks' but is just like this game is made for or either play exactly as one dev wants to or just is made to lose. Is not evenm fun anymore, is just frustratring, because youy can't even replay the same level to try to learn.

ANyway, I also cant stop playing because i am no quitter but i just hate this fracking videogame. (gothic armada 1)

New to the game- one thing I like to do when starting out is watch the ai fight each other in custom battles.

I usually do this in other games by setting up a “2v2” with me and one allied ai vs one enemy ai. I then give myself like one unit while giving armies to the two opposing ai’s, so I can watch them 1v1.

I can’t seem to figure out how to do that in BFG2 by setting up the ai players as above in skirmish. Is this possible in this game?

downloaded the 2.2 mod from Nexus mods and i could really use a how to install guide or just SHOW ME for noobs for people who actually know WTF they are doing as much of the steps in the instructions at least to me appear not to be possible.

My easy difficulty imperial campaign is having its first major scripted invasion, and my Astartes fleet has just enough firepower to kill the Tyranids if I use it alongside my defence platforms. Except my defence platforms start with one hp bar and my ships are all at half health. I obviously can’t win against 1717 of Tyranids with that, and I don’t know what’s causing it.

Worth mentioning I installed skalgrim on my save part way through.

Just re installed the skalgrim mod after awhile but I don't remember there being so many defence platforms and space stations, I'm only on turn 12 and the cadian system has a defence platform, space station, and mines. From the last time I played I remember the mines being deployed, that's fine I expect that, but I'm not sure I'll be able to take out two stations and the chaos fleet still there with only two fleets to use, and I can't exactly wait to build up since there will just be more stations and platforms in other systems. Is this how it was before and I jaut don't remember or did I accidentally put on a setting in the difficulty options?
