Booked Montway on 10/13 to ship my car from Florida to Mississippi. Later that night, I was scrolling through Reddit and came across Wayfinder. Saw how active Art was and figured I’d get a quote.
He called me, and honestly, I almost didn’t answer because I assumed it would be another call center sales pitch. He called again, I picked up, and within the first 30 seconds I was like, damn, I’m actually talking to a real person who knows what he’s doing. He explained the whole process, what to expect, and answered all my questions without making me feel rushed.
He said he could arrange pickup the next day, 10/14 around noon, with delivery potentially by Saturday, 10/17. That already sounded fast compared to the week or longer I’d seen people mention on Reddit, so I canceled Montway and booked with Wayfinder.
The driver picked up my car exactly when Art said he would. Then it showed up at my house today, 10/15, at 5 p.m.—two days earlier than I expected. That’s Amazon Prime shipping speed, except it’s a whole damn car. Car came spotless
Seriously appreciate Art for staying on top of everything and following through. dude's work ethic is respectable. If you need a car shipped, hit him up.
this is my own experience

I've shipped cars three times before, and this was by far the easiest experience I've had (Went from SEA -> AZ). Todd was super easy to work with, always kept me updated, and made the whole process straightforward and stress free. Probably the most stress free I've been shipping a car.
Couldn't have asked for a smoother experience. Highly recommend!

I wanted to share my experience because I know how stressful it can be to transport a vehicle across state lines, especially when you have travel arrangements already booked. This experience taught me a lot about the difference between a company that takes your order and one that actually works with you to get the job done.
Montway sucks!!!
Back in August, I booked Montway Auto Transport to move a vehicle from Colorado to Texas in October. I understand that auto transport companies give you a pickup window, so I planned accordingly. I wanted the vehicle picked up on Tuesday, October 13, so I selected Sunday, October 11, as my first available date.
When I originally booked over the phone, the representative quoted me $775. I placed my order at that price because I wanted to lock it in. This wasn't just me requesting a quote and walking away. I had an order for $775.
I was told scheduling would happen a few days before pickup, and that the timeframe was 1–5 days not business days when I originally booked.
I waited, but I didn't hear a word from them. Not even on my first available date.
On Saturday, I called, and the AI told me they had 1–5 business days. Wait a minute! That's not what I was told when I booked. Sunday came, and it was the same story. I figured Monday would be different since it was a business day, but when I called again, a representative gave me the same 1–5 business day response.
At this point, I was getting anxious. I had plane tickets booked for Tuesday night, and I needed the vehicle picked up! I called several other companies that were actual carriers rather than brokers, but their schedules were already booked about two weeks out. I also posted the vehicle on Shiply to see what other options I had.
Then, Monday afternoon, after I had posted the vehicle elsewhere, Montway finally called.
They said they could pick up the vehicle that very day at 4 p.m., but it would cost me an additional $200.
I reminded them that I had already placed an order for $775. The representative told me that offer had expired because it was past 30 days.
Excuse me? What's the point of placing an order to lock in a price if the company can come back later and tell you the price has expired when you're days away from needing the service?
At that point, I wanted nothing more to do with them. It felt like a bait-and-switch situation, and I wasn't comfortable doing business under those circumstances.
The frustrating part is that I had used Montway a few years ago without any problems. That's why I went back to them despite reading some of the negative experiences people had shared here on Reddit. Unfortunately, this time was a completely different experience.
In the middle of all this, I came across a Reddit post about Hippohaul and signed up. I received an instant quote.
Meanwhile, I was starting to think I was going to have to rent a truck, get a hitch, and haul the vehicle myself. I started looking at U-Haul options, but $1,300 was way too much. Then I started searching for rental trucks that could accommodate a hitch. Then I found out they don't let you hitch to their vehicles.
While I was searching, I called Hippohaul to cancel my order because I thought I had to resort to driving the vehicle myself.
No one answered, but someone called me back shortly afterward and asked if I had just called.
I explained that I had signed up to transport my vehicle but was about to cancel. He told me he was actually just about to call me to ask if Tuesday, October 13, would work for pickup.
HECK YES!
Not only could they arrange pickup for the exact day I needed, but he gave me a specific window of 10 a.m. to noon.
He explained that he needed to pay the driver a little more and offered to send me the difference to honor the price I had been shown. I told him to call it a wash because, at that point, getting the vehicle picked up on time was my biggest concern.
But he insisted. He said their company honors the price shown, so he sent me the $15 difference to give to the driver along with my portion.
Now, THAT made an impression on me.
The driver called afterward to confirm the pickup. When I confirmed the time window, he said the company couldn't do that. I gathered that the arrangement might not have been something they were supposed to do. Even so, the next day came, and the driver picked up the vehicle within the window I had been given.
The vehicle was originally supposed to be delivered on Saturday, October 17. Instead, it arrived this morning, Thursday, October 15, around 10:45 a.m. — two days earlier than expected!
Here's the funny part.
I called the driver to give him a meeting location near my house for Saturday because the truck wouldn't be able to get through my street with all the trees.
He said, "Okay. See you in 10–15 minutes."
I said, "WHAT?! You're already here?"
He said yes! 😂
When I tell you that driver wasn't PLAYING!
And the best part? The vehicle arrived in the same condition it was picked up, and everything I had inside was still intact.

Joel set up my move and it was picked up and delivered a day earlier than requested. Everything happened electronically and the price was right.
I asked up front about any possible extra charges and they told me the contingencies that could cause extra charges, but there were none.
Great experience start to finish.

Hi all, I just bought a car and had it shipped down to me. I used a broker who is basically useless and disappeared as soon as the load was booked, figures as much. The transporter left their ratchet straps flapping around and rubbed raw spots through the paint on both side skirts. One of them needs fiberglass work and paint, the other likely just paint. I'd guess it's a $1000 repair roughly if they can smooth the one side skirt well, maybe $1500 if I need a new skirt.
I'm in Texas if that matters. I got their COI and called their cargo insurance (Great American) to verify it was active before releasing the car to them. I also have the car on Hagerty myself($2500 ded though) and called them to confirm that they do cover me on any damages done in transit, and they'd go after the shipper's insurance on the back end. I did make sure to note the damage on the BOL while signing.
The driver told me to reach out to their dispatch so I emailed them the photos, but haven't heard back yet. Do these companies seem to prefer to pay cash for repairs to avoid the insurance claim? I don't remember their deductible but assume it is close enough to the cost that they may not want to bother. If they don't want to do that, do I just file a claim with their insurance directly and hope they cover me? Thank you for any advice here!

Is it a good idea to go through a broker company like Montway or others to ship a Tesla from Torrance to Cincinnati?

Hey yall, I’m trying to ship my car from Albany to Austin. What company should I go with that has good prices and good service? I know prices are going to be higher because diesel is up, and I can wait a few weeks. Been shopping around for quotes and I’ve seen 1600-1900 but I’m honestly not trying to spend more than 1200 on this. Also is there any other insurance I should add for this?

Looking to ship my older CRV however the quotes I’m getting are too wide in variety. What’s the average quote for this route and how is the cost calculated? Afraid of the bait and switch, car getting damaged or not arriving. Don’t care about how long it takes. Just need it delivered for the price quoted and safely. Any company recommendations? I’ve lurked through a lot of posts on here and basically each company has some terrible reviews. Trying to find a company/broker for now that’ll help me in the future too with multiple moves around the country every year with my new job.
Thanks for the help

Hi I’m considering a vehicle purchase. I need to bring my vehicle from McKinney TX (75071) to Tysons VA (22182). Ideally would need the vehicle to be delivered on Saturday 10/17.
If that’s not possible it’s okay. I’m just looking for a quote. Ready to move on it if the numbers work out.

I am shipping my car from Wilsonville, OR, 97070 to Boynton Beach, FL, 33426. and I will ship it on Nov 22. Is 5 weeks out too far in advance to try and get quotes? One broker message I got seemed to hint that if I try and book later, I am more likely to get a better price.
I also want to know how much I should expect price-wise. The quotes I have gotten vary so much in price. Trying to figure out what is realistic and what isn't/
Finally, who are the companies I need to avoid? Particularly, the bait and switch. I don't want to mess with that. I just want the real price.
Car specs:
