A Comprehensive Summary of Australian Men's Online Clothing Retailers

Hi everyone,

Almost 7 years ago, I made a spreadsheet of almost all the mens online stores in Australia, based off a list from /fa/, which currently lives in the sidebar of aMFA. I've now updated it, as well as added additional information (shipping fees, number of brands/products stocked, location etc.) to be a more useful resource, and also removed the shitty 4chan slang.

Why? I think Mens shopping in Australia is far behind the rest of the world - there are so many great, quality brands in the world, many of which receive a spotlight on MFA, but often only a few stores in Australia stock them. There are also loads of great Australian brands, and new ones launching, that are also impossible to find. I've also included a few major international sites that ship to Australia, but note the shipping price.

Why have I ranked them by tier? As many great stores exist in Australia, there are also loads of low quality chain stores that permeate every Westfield and Stockland. I'm hoping to bring light to some of the smaller, better shops to support them in this trying time, however I appreciate some of the opinions are quite subjective.

This Reddit table looks like shit! Sorry that's not my fault - I've published the excel version here, which includes even more details on each store (ie. what brands they stock, how many products they have online, etc.)

Where's X store? Let me know any shops I've missed, I'm sure there's a few I haven't covered. I've tried to make this exhaustive, but I've also purposely left off quite a few dadcore clothing (Gazman, Sportscraft, Rodd & Gunn) and boring shoe (Aquila, Windsor Smith) brands.

Before I get into it - there's a few interesting facts I've noticed when compiling this data:

  • 33% of stores from the original list have closed down - not just smaller ones, but some of the biggest ones (eg. Topman) have been swallowed up as well
  • Many new stores have popped up - sneaker stores have seen the biggest growth
  • David Jones has a better range of high end brands, while Myer has gone downhill - they used to be comparable and now they're worlds apart

Monthly B/S/T September 2026

Buy/Sell/Trade here at your own risk. Always get complete contact information before anything is shipped.

RULES:

  • Post a description that accurately describes what you are selling. Update your thread when something gets sold or is no longer available.
  • Post item condition and any images of the item (if available). Be as descriptive as possible when posting an item for sale or trade.
  • Please refrain from downvoting posts.

Suggestions:

Use Paypal to facilitate these transactions. Gifting is fine, but understand the limits and liabilities of sending an unprotected "gift" to a seller. You'll save a bit of $, but it does leave you exposed if there is a fraudulent seller.

Another option is to use Grailed. You have the Paypal protection for both parties with much lower fees for the sellers. You also get a profile that shows the total number of transactions so you can use that as your proof of trustworthiness.

Please try to evaluate the "fair market value" of your items. No use in overpricing things and having them not sell. Check what the current selling price is on eBay to get a decent sense of FMV.

Feel free to ask for answers or pictures about an item you are interested in. A good seller will always be willing to answer you in a timely matter.

On the other hand, be a good buyer. Respond to the seller's communication, and be truthful about your intentions. Nothing is worse for a seller than answering a bunch of questions about fit and details, and then the potential buyer dropping off the map.

I’ve moved up at work faster than expected and my suits are letting me down

Feels like a stupid thing to post about but it’s been in my head for a few weeks now so figured I’d ask here

Three years ago i was the most junior person in the room and i bought whatever was on sale at djs because honestly no one was paying that much attention to me.

Things have changed quite a bit since then. I’m in client meetings now, i’m usually the one presenting, and I’ve got people reporting to me which still feels a bit weird saying out loud

what actually made me notice the suit thing was being in the lift with one of the partners last month. I caught us both in the mirror and just thought, oh. His suit actually fit him. mine kind of just hung there. It didn’t even look like it was cheap or anything, it just looked like i’d borrowed it from somebody and never got around to taking it back

And yeah, I know clothes probably shouldn’t matter that much, but in my job people make their mind up about you pretty quickly. I’m starting to feel like I still look like the junior guy even though I’m really not in that position anymore

So I’m thinking I’ll get one good one now and maybe add another in six months, rather than going out and buying a few average ones at once. Probably around $1500 to $2000 to spend. I’d be wearing it four or five days a week so it needs to actually survive that without looking wrecked

Where did you guys go for yours? Honestly I’m more interested in whether it held up and whether you ended up going back than whether the place has a nice website

Also for anyone who’s gone through the whole “got promoted and suddenly my wardrobe doesn’t make sense anymore” thing, how did you handle it? Did you replace everything gradually or just bite the bullet and do it all at once.

Advice Needed Where to get quality tees in my 50s?

Where can I get tees, both short and long sleeve, that are flattering?

I’m a middle aged dad bod, and flattering for me means:

Structure through the body: fabric that has some weight to it and hangs cleanly rather than outlining your shape.
Neat, narrow sleeves: I have relatively slim arms.
Rich, saturated colours: Blues, especially a bright petrol or ocean blue, rather than navy, dusty blue or pastel. Charcoal, rather than black or light grey. Solid colours only, no prints or patterns or logos.

I used to have a favourite supplier. Every single shirt I own is from Pearler, other than collared shirts and exercise gear. In summer, round neck tees in charcoal and a range of blues and greens. In cool weather, a long sleeve Henley in oceanic blue that sets off my eyes so well I get comments. If you’ve ever had an attractive woman comment on your shirt and your eyes on first meeting you will understand why I rushed out and bought a set of them.

But Pearler stopped making the Henley, and the oceanic blue, because of course they did. And now their entire website has disappeared and they’re about to launch something different so I expect the tees are lost now as well. Some of my current shirts are starting to show some wear and tear. Those eye-catching long sleeves are only going to last so much longer.

Where do I go now?

Fashion for dads?

Finally on top of the dad bod and now the arms and shoulders are starting to pop, back to my early twenties weight.

What are dads recommendations for fashion these days?

I feel like this market is totally missed. Country Road, Gazman are ok - but they are so boxy and you swim in them.

Does anyone recommend those online sites for tailored Tees and fashion?

I have some stuff from La Haute - which is ok.

Ideally would prefer a physical store. Not after the cheapest, just good quality - but not going to pay Calibre prices.

I don’t wear suits to work, only weddings, and I have tried on the suits I’ve got and I honestly hate how they look now. Tapered leg that gives me war flashbacks to the skinny jeans era.

I bought these from Venroy but unfortunately the jacket is too small and they don’t have a medium in stock. Anyone got any suggestions of something similar? Doesn’t need to be THAT baggy.

Do I need to just get it tailor made or does anyone think there’s some off the rack I could pull trigger on?

Any advice appreciated 🙏🏻

Black suit for gala events — alternatives to Calibre that won’t send me broke?

• Upvotes

I’ve got a couple of gala events coming up and need to buy a black suit.

Lately I’ve found Calibre fits my body shape really well off the rack, but I’m going broke buying from them all the time.

Politix has some decent discounts at the moment. I’ve bought linen blazers from them before and been happy, but haven’t tried their suits.

Who else should I be considering for a decent off-the-rack suit at a reasonable price? Happy to get minor alterations, but don’t want to dick around with made-to-measure or a custom suit.

For context, I also love SABA shirts, so Calibre/SABA probably gives you an idea of my taste. Based in Adelaide if there are any local recommendations.

Anyone tried both Calibre and Politix suits and can comment on the fit and quality?

Arty cool tees with unusual graphics

My husband has 2 tees made in Japan. They are heavy cotton, a nice beige off-white colour slightly wider cut than usual, and one has a sexy Egyptian art graphic all over inc across the seams (not disjointed by the seams) another has large rough kind of hand painted mushrooms on it. I know, crazy and sooo cool EVERYONE goes ‘cool shirt’ when he wears them. I’m sick of tees with the print in the middle that are boring. Help me find cool designer stuff. Willing to pay $150- $200 for quality. The brand he has doesn’t exist anymore.

Good quality formal dark brown belt

Any suggestions for dark brown narrow formal belt for these dark brown CNES Derby's I recently picked up? Looking for good quality leather. Preferably less than 100.

https://ibb.co/kVBfNchX

Will generally wear these with a navy suit or chinos.

I currently have a Aussie made farage belt in a mid brown which is far too light. Need something much darker to match

Baggy/straight dress pants.

Hey guys, does anyone know where I can find pants similar to these in Australia (https://www.borderlineofficial.com/collections/denim-archive-copy)? I have looked in a lot of places, but none of them seems quite right. Any recommendations?

Oxford Outerwear - scam them back!

If you see something that you like on their website, then go ahead and buy it. Just know that the quality won't be quite as nice as what is pictured. The fit is pretty good though so you might like it.

If you want an extra 50% off, once you get your items send them an email asking to return the item after you've already opened it. They will respond with an offer to refund half of the price since they scammed me by making a terrible return policy matched only by the low quality in their product.

I wanted to share that with the world so that other people can get the extra 50% off after the fact.

Review An argument against high waisted trousers

TL;DR I don't find high waisted trousers comfortable enough to justify purchasing any more

Comparison Photos with high and mid waist trousers

I was in Melbourne and I tried on a pair of high waisted linen trousers at Informale. I liked the look and fit of the trousers in store, and decided to buy the T007 brown linen, which have a drawstring to secure the fit. Unfortunately, there's a few issues I have that apply to these and to all high waisted trousers.

Preface: I'm 5'2" / 157 cm and 138 lbs / 63 kg. I'd say I have short legs for my body.

Pros: - I like how they look from the front view because they extend my legs and shorten my torso. I also like how they sit flat on the front, where the mid rise curves down. - They're an open weave, linen trouser with lots of room for my legs for when it gets hot. I like these for a hot weather trouser.

Cons specific to these trousers: - The internal drawstring is not for me. Wearing the knot outside is an option, but it's not a look I'm going for. Wearing the knot inside makes it a bit trickier to get the right shirt tuck. This is made more apparent and frustrating when I have to undo my pants several times a day (ie going to the toilet). I have remedied this by sewing some buttons and braided elastic on the inside. I cut slits every 2 cm into the ends of the braided elastic until I got a good fit. You can also do this to size down a pair of trousers. - There's no belt loop or side adjuster buckle to clip my keys to, so I'd have to sew on a key loop if I want to wear these more often.

Cons for high waisted trousers: - When I managed to get a fit on the braided elastic that would be tight enough to not slip down as I move around, I can really feel the trouser waist pressing against belly when I sit down, lean over, and breathe. I imagine a pair of high waisted dress pants with no elastic and side adjusters would be even less comfortable. - The side profile of these trousers looks very unflattering and I look like an old man. They make me look like I have very wide hips and a flat backside. Maybe this has something to do with the rear trouser creases. This is more noticeable in real life than in the photo I took. - There's much more material around the crotch that bunches up when I sit down.

I'm a bit upset that I spent so much on something I'm not too happy with and I can't return these because of the alterations I made. But I'm happy to not have to upheave my entire trouser collection for more expensive and harder to find high waisted trousers.

Collar stays

Hi all,

Just wondering what the general consensus is when it comes to collar stays.

For those who use and stock up on them, where should I be looking / buying?

Thanks in advance brains’ trust 😊

Surf brand Ts

I know this may not exactly fit the sub however looking for advice

I like a simple t for every day use/seeing bands/casual night out etc. As I surf I generally go for surf branded shirts.

The quality in the last 1-2 years seems to have gone to absolute shit, along with the current fab and high necks (which irritates this shit out of me).

I’ve found my Deus shirts holding up the best, the rest average.

Any brand suggestions? I don’t mind totally plain shirts (have a couple AS colour which have held up)

I’m bit of a tight arse (that could be the problem!) and don’t really want to spend more that $40 a shirt

Am I dreaming?

Higher quality alternatives to Lululemon ABCs

I bought a pair of ABCs when I was unexpectedly sleeping at the hospital for a week following my daughter's birth, and they did the job I needed them to do - purchase within walking distance, be comfortable, not look terrible after days of sleeping in an armchair.

They haven't held up particularly well, and now I'm looking to replace the niche they serve in my wardrobe, but I kinda hate the trousers themselves. Can anyone recommend me something that'll do the job?

Want:

  • Australian made
  • Lightweight
  • Presentable in office
  • Cycle commute compatible
  • Durable

Don't want (ABC experience):

  • Formless
  • Revealing dick outline
  • Synthetic material that stinks

Trouser & Shoe Recs

Trying to be organised and get myself sorted for EOY party fit.

Theme is dress to impress, and I need some new trousers and shoes.

Previously have worn chinos from both industrie and country road that have been good, but wanted to see what recommendations are out there for pants I can wear with a tan coloured jacket, but also wear to work without looking out of place.

Also in the market for a new pair of shoes, something more summery than my RM's - thinking brown suede oxfords or loaders.

What have you got for me?

Advice Needed Blazer / Sport Coat Recommendations

Hi all

I'm after recommendations for a blazer/sport coat that I can wear for work in any weather other than cold weather (I have a winter coat). So ideally something fit for hot summer days but also mild string/autumn weather. Budget would be $100-500.

I have been leaning toward Rodd & Gunn but would like to know what else is out there.

Thanks

Beard Trimmer Reccomendations

I had a Wahl Lithium Ion trimmer die on me after 2 years of weekly use when the power button broke.

I’m looking to buy a new beard trimmer but I feel like the typical beard trimmers sold, like the Phillips 9000 and One Blade, are fairly basic.

I’m considering investing in a barber specific trimmer as I’d assume the quality and cut is much better.

I typically shave my facial hair using the adjustable guard set at 2-4(mm?) - I’m assuming the number on the wahl adjustable 1-10 guard refers to the mm length

I’m currently looking at:

- Wahl A Lign
- Andis Slim Line Pro
- Wahl Waterproof Lithium-Ion Stainless Steel Grooming (safe option, non barber tool)

Open to any and all suggestions, thanks

Discussion Cotton on in 2026

As someone who swore off cotton on a few years ago, I recently went to their outlet and was pretty happy with some recent cops.

I know they're very fast fashion and obviously hop straight onto trends, but I was low-key impressed by the value you can get for some passable quality basics. Uniqlo was pretty much my go to for years, but I've been annoyed at their silhouettes lagging, and more importantly their enshittification of materials where everything is now poly blend trash and prices are pretty average too.

You obviously have to sift through mounds of garbage at cotton on and definitely shouldn't pay full price. But I grabbed heaps of 100% cotton shorts, t-shirts and tops that actually have a nice modern relaxed/cropped fit. Just as basics for summer, the materials aren't amazing, but do feel like they'll hold up well enough. Also super happy with a pair of 55% linen 45% cotton wide leg trackies for summer. Every piece was under $30 too.

What's everyone else's thoughts?

Would you pay for an online personal stylist to help you find an outfit for an event?

I'm doing some market research into an online personal styling service and would love some honest opinions.

The idea would primarily be aimed at people who have an upcoming event, like a wedding, birthday, engagement party, formal or other special occasion, and are struggling to find something to wear or simply don't have the time to look.

You'd enter your budget, clothing size, personal style, the type of event you're attending and any specific preferences. You'd then be matched with a personal stylist who would put together 2–3 complete outfit options for you, including clothing, shoes and accessories, with direct links to purchase everything from existing retailers.

You'd pay for the styling service itself, and then decide whether to purchase any of the recommended items separately.

Although the main focus would be event styling, there would also be the option to work with a stylist for everyday outfits, workwear, wardrobe refreshes or simply finding clothes that suit your personal style.

I'm curious:

  1. Would you ever consider paying for a service like this, particularly if you had an upcoming event?
  2. How much would you realistically be willing to pay for 2–3 complete, personalised outfit recommendations? For example, $0, $20–$40, $40–$70, $70–$100 or more?
  3. What would make you choose this over finding an outfit yourself online?
  4. Would you prefer a one-off styling service for an event, or the option to work with a stylist more regularly?
  5. Is there anything about this concept that would put you off using it?

I'm based in Australia, so I'd be especially interested in hearing from Australians.

I'm not advertising or selling anything. I'm just trying to work out whether there's genuine demand for a service like this before investing in the idea. Please be as honest as possible!

Advice Needed Just launched my first clothing label in Sydney - would love some feedback

Hey guys, I’m a DJ based in Sydney and I’ve just launched my first clothing label, Bliss Selections.
The brand is rooted in underground music and club culture, which is where I’ve spent a lot of my time over the years.

This is the first release, BS / 001 - Lower Frequency. It’s a 230 GSM 100% cotton tee with a boxy, relaxed fit and plastisol screen print.

I’ve been working on everything myself alongside my full-time job, so I’d genuinely be interested to hear what you guys think of the first piece, particularly the design and fit.

Based in Sydney and shipping Australia-wide.

If anyone wants to see the tee/photos: https://blissselections.com/products/bs-001-lower-frequency

Hi MFA can you help a late 30s guy getting into the dating game.

To preface: I know the go is to always check sidebars and posts, I did check them and only really found out that I should go to David Jones rather than Myer if I look at either of them. The Brisbane stores were outdated and didn't work as well.

Ok, cutting a long story short but I've had a chick interested in me from a work interaction and she's VERY keen to meet up outside of work, I've lost around 16 kg... currently 90 kg at 189 cm and I'm feeling like it's time to start dating/meeting with chicks before I'm too old.

Problem is I got no idea what to wear. I'll taking her out to dinner or drinks in a casual environment and I've literally never dated. The last time I had a girlfriend (ltr) was 2011 because I've ever been working big hours or just uninterested in trying because I was overweight etc.

So my question is: what do you guys wear in this situation? I've got red wings iron rangers, cdb etc... from back when I was getting interested in fashion, do people still wear these boots? or if not what's a good shoe to wear for casual drinks/food? I do have new balance 574 but they're just lazy shoes for walking the dog.

Also no Idea what to wear for clothing... my standout features are probably my arms (manual job) aside from facial features so short sleeved works well for me.

Ideally I would like to take her out as soon as possible hence this post. Hopefully it works thanks in advance for your time.
