General FINAL day to add YOUR signature - Ghostbuster Bill

Post image
5 Upvotes

Have you had enough of ghost jobs and a general lack of integrity around job advertising in Australia?

This is the final day you can add your signature and share this petition to help get the attention the issue deserves. Please share widely if you agree with the aims.

We want to see a Ghostbuster Bill presented to parliament to introduce regulation for job advertising which penalises those who post ghost jobs and act in a misleading and dishonest manner.

Everyone knows this is a big problem and if we can get even some modest regulation it may force platforms like Seek to police unethical actors who are currently unaccountable.

Australians are better and deserve better. This is partly inspired by the TJAAA in the US and we will hopefully see a global push back in future.

Sign the petition

General Curious that the centrist 'wasted vote'/'can't form government' crowd don't use this argument in response to One Nation.

They've been throwing this bs argument at minor left parties (the greens, mostly) for years.

We really screwed ourselves by privatising so many government services.

How could privatising the job placement part of welfare not lead to the gaming of the system for profit?

I seriously do not understand how the bar is this low for a candidate.

No vetting, no standards, just desperation. The party took this idiots money, put him in the most unlikely seat, and ran with it. Exploit, churn and burn.

The fact there is a prospect that soon in the Victoria election, this party and its successful candidates will be paid with taxpayer money disgusts me. And if one candidate is THIS bad that’s allowed to go through, there will be others that we haven’t uncovered more about yet.

One nation and its candidates need to be held to the same standards as the other parties’ candidates - and they will continue to operate in the ways they have as long as it keeps earning them money.

General Should politicians get a free pass on hateful comments?

Pauline Hanson is calling for people to calm down over Angie Bell's comments calling for Albo and Anne Aly to be "shamed and stoned" which is an intonation that they should be killed, especially to a Muslim like Anne Aly.

Angie Bell was later forced to withdraw the comments, but the damage has been done publicly with Anne receiving death threats already over the commentary. The coalition is taking a unified stance that the comments were withdrawn, so no harm, no foul.

So the question is, should politicians get a free pass on hateful comments? Considering those made in parliament will go public very quickly regardless of being withdrawn or not. While Hansard will show the comment as being "withdrawn" the comment itself remains in the record, and the comment is frequently broadcast immediately without retraction.

Conversely if Albo had made a comment about Hanson being a crook and a liar (both demonstrable) who should be gaoled ... how would that affect Pauline who has spent time behind bars already? ... Withdrawn.

Work 11 hours a day. Pay a fortune in rent. Get gouged at the supermarket. Hand over more of your wages to privatised corporations.
And somehow, you're told that migrants and trans people are the problem.

The billionaires and big corporations are laughing all the way to the bank while Labor and the Liberals keep us fighting amongst ourselves.

It's time to break the power of the billionaire class and put it back in the hands of everyday Australians.

General Social platforms have 'responsibility' to block US execution live stream, Albanese says

Personally I’d prefer Labor not waste $ and focus trying to be seen to block this. It’s futile. If it is streamed and people want to see it, they will find a way.

Stick with the bipartisan narrative of denouncing the event (and the current US govt while you’re at it), go with “right minded Australians wouldn’t watch this”, warn social media companies not to host recordings … then score political points calling out any platform or person who proliferates or rejoices it, as UnAustralian (because you know who WILL share/rejoice it!)

Stop trying to pRoTeCt uS fRoM all tHe bAd tHiNgS and project the narrative.

Labor just aren’t smart or politically strategic.

General Lukewarm Liberal response to Josh Frydenberg's potential return to politics

Thumbnail

Federal Liberals have given a lukewarm response to former treasurer Josh Frydenberg's mooted return to politics, with one colleague saying the party cannot afford to wait for him to "save us", and One Nation's Barnaby Joyce urging him to "cut the BS" over his ambitions.

Promoting his memoir with a media blitz during a parliamentary sitting week, Mr Frydenberg insisted he had been "very content" after losing his seat of Kooyong but stopped short of ruling out a comeback.

Frydenberg says he supports Angus Taylor

In excerpts from Mr Frydenberg's book, he urged the Liberal Party to "reclaim" the centre of politics, arguing there was a lack of political courage in Canberra.

But Mr Frydenberg said on Tuesday he supported Angus Taylor and his frontbench, despite litigating the "need for us to change".

"I support Angus and the team, it's a tough job", he said.

General Textbook example of 'confirmation bias' here, folks! Classic.

Classic behaviour. Only measuring outcomes when you know you're succeeding. If you know you're failing? Stop measuring. Nothing to learn from failure, is there? Or success.

Especially hypocritical for AUSTRAC, which does "transaction reports and analysis". Or is that a textbook example of 'irony'?

Canberra Times 14 Oct 2026, but paywalled, soz.

General Who Is To Blame For The Latest Credit Card Surcharge SNAFU? #surcharge

Thumbnail

The ATO just made a mockery of the government's surcharge ban and the banks are behind the whole mess. Robbie Barwick break down how the push to go cashless has never been about efficiency or progress, it's been about bank profits, transaction fees, and surveillance of your spending data. From closing over 2,000 bank branches and ripping out 8,000 ATMs, to Jim Chalmers' so-called "cash acceptance mandate" that exempted 99% of businesses, the political establishment has been doing the banks' bidding every step of the way.

The ATO's refusal to accept credit cards under the new surcharge ban proves what we've always known: banning surcharges doesn't make things cheaper. It just shifts costs around and small businesses are the ones left paying the price.
- The ATO vs. the surcharge ban
- The banks' war on cash (2017–present)
- The Morrison government's failed $10,000 cash ban
- Jim Chalmers' fraudulent "cash acceptance mandate"
- Why the Citizens Party fought to defend cash

Don't trust any politicians in bed with the banks.

Pauline Hanson tabled legislation calling for a 15% domestic gas reservation policy in March 2026 then turned around and denied she ever said anything about it. We replay her own speech side by side with her denial at a press conference, where journalist Tom McIlroy confronts her with the facts. The gap between what One Nation claimed and what they're now saying is stark. Are they selling out, or just hoping nobody was paying attention?
