Make sure you get your questions in for Chandler Rome's AMA before 2pm CT!

Are the dodgers fans going to blame the 2017 Astros if they get knocked out?

A saw a clip of a Yankees fan somehow bringing up 2017 after the Rays eliminated them. (idk his name, but he makes amateur talk show like videos)

You know it!

I hope the Dodgers get swept.  Also I think there’s a 0% chance Ohtani gets benched this postseason, hopefully he doesn’t injure himself further.

Hopefully he stays in the lineup and puts up another 0fer.

Agreed, he has too much star power and the millions of Ohtani fans will likely turn the game off if he’s not playing. MLB can’t have that

Dave Roberts 😂 and they were trying to say he was a great manager last week hahahaha guy got gifted a billion dollar dream team.

Hey man, sometimes deciding which of the many stars to use in a given scenario is tough. One guy might only hit .300 in one spot and only .290 in the other spot.

I had the same issue with star studded pokemon lineup during gym battles.

Godspeed, Joe Espada. I thought he was a good man and he got dealt a shit hand. There was only so much he could do with what he had, but what he did weren't always the right moves.

Let's make it 3-0 tonight, Brewers.

If we end up with Ausmus, I might scream.

The amount of pitches Jake Bauers saw in one at bat is what the Astros would have seen across 3 or 4 innings

Gotta love that backbreaker of an AB.

Nothing unites the people of the world more than seeing the Dodgers lose.

I’ll take Kyle Tucker having a good playoffs, for once, as the Dodgers lose. Would be funny

Starting to remind me of the game 7 blow out back in 2017.

These dick pill commercials with Megan Fox. I guess baseball really is for old people.

It's starting to cater to them primarily

Even ads airing during the NFL, NBA, and college football have more variation imo than during MLB

Yeah, uhh... the Brewers radio feed had a paid live ad read for Northshore.

Northshore adult diapers.

And it was as embarrassing of an ad read as it gets.

No doubt Jim Crane pushes hard for a Brewers executive to be GM. Low payroll, smart front office, awesome player development.

You know Bagwell is making his pitch to be GM and bring Ausmus in to be manager.

Brewers making it a great night!

Fuck the Dodgers! The only thing better than seeing them on the verge of a sweep is knowing they’ll never get the revenge they so desperately crave for 2017. Shouldn’t have started Darvish in Game 7 fuckers.

You know I was looking forward to Rome's AMA but despite getting two separate questions answered, I still feel disappointed.

I asked about the different aspects that could have been affecting Imai (seeing as Rome's reporting made it seem like it was purely the shock of relocating to Houston). He gave a vague non answer that seemed at odds with how he reported on Imai this year.

Same thing when asking about just how involved Bagwell is. 'He's very influential. There are plenty of reasons to think so/my sources say he's influential'

But not elaborating at all lol.

I think, and this is just my opinion, that it depends on the question, what information the reporter actually has, and what level of detail the person asking is hoping to get. There can also be limits to what a beat writer can share about their sources or what they can get the front office to explain publicly. That said, I wouldn't necessarily assume that's why a particular answer was vague.

I also think it's worth being comfortable with some uncertainty, even when you're getting information from an insider. Beat writers generally know more than we do, but that doesn't mean they know everything, and an informed assessment isn't necessarily a definitive explanation or a guarantee of what the team will do. At the same time, I can understand wanting more detail when an answer doesn't fully address the question.

Think of it like Black Widow: use the AMA to gather intelligence, assess what you've learned, account for the gaps, and draw your own conclusions without claiming more certainty than the information warrants.

For me, this was my third AMA, all with insiders or beat writers, and luckily I've had all three of my questions answered. I usually ask for information or their personal reads on questions surrounding the team, while keeping in mind that those reads aren't necessarily reporting or guarantees of future decisions. The situations I'm asking about are often still unresolved, and new information could change the picture

So I think I approached the AMA with somewhat different expectations. I'm glad to get a reporter's perspective even if some questions remain open, whereas I can understand why you might come away disappointed. I don't think those two reactions are necessarily incompatible

I generally agree with your comment here. I just think I'd have rather gotten no answer than a vague non answer, you know?

Tempering expectations would have helped with this and I found Brian McTaggert's AMA much more enjoyable personally despite not getting a question answered.

This is just my read on it, and I could be wrong, but with Imai, I kind of agree with Rome. I don't think you can pinpoint his struggles to one cause, and I think it's possible that multiple factors contributed without us necessarily being able to determine which one carried the most weight.

As for the Bagwell matter, the best way I can frame it is…honestly, I don't even wanna know lmao. That's a whole lot of behind-the-scenes bureaucracy my brain can't even comprehend right now.

Totally agree about setting expectations for AMAs, though. Also realized his answer on my Varsho question might come off a bit vague even for me though but idc. On my end, I guess I'm usually more transactional with them: throw in a question, monitor the AMA, see if I get an answer, break it down, and then that's it. Can't really speak to the McTaggart AMA since I wasn't even in this sub at the time lol.

Although, now that you mention AMAs, honestly, I wish I'd been able to ask Mark Feinsand and Jeff Passan questions over at r/baseball. I might throw some questions Feinsand's way during the Hot Stove. I've been 0-for-God-knows-how-many with Jeff Passan, though
