REQUEST Help Charlie reach his 2nd birthday (Vet Bill; $300-$1,000)

Hi everyone,

Our cat son, Charlie, is about to go through his 3rd surgery this year due to intestinal blockage from eating inedible items (likely caused by Pica).

We are still underwater from the $12K vet bill of his previous 2 surgeries, causing our pet insurance to be maxed out for the year.

Charlie desperately needs this 3rd surgery to continue living the happy and healthy life he deserves especially since he’s still so young and is only turning 2 years old next month.

We wouldn’t be asking for help if it we weren’t brought to the point of desperation, but as you all can probably relate to, we would do anything for our loved ones especially since they bring so much joy and happiness into our lives.

Charlie is family to us & we really just want to make sure that he gets to live a long, happy, and healthy life that he deserves.

Thank you so much, and I hope that you all hug your fur babies and cherish each moment that you have with them.

If the last 3 surgeries came to $12.000 , how co.e this one is less than $1000.00 ?

The first surgery was the most expensive since we rushed Charlie into the closest emergency vet clinic to us (LAASER) & initially they were just going to put him on a catheter to help clear his urinary tract, but he ended up needing PU surgery & had to stay longer at the vet to recover because he had formed large crystals in his urinary tract, despite this being his first time being blocked. The majority of the $12K+ we’ve spent was from this first surgery.

The second surgery was cheaper because we found a more affordable vet clinic that could perform the surgery, in this instance he got blocked in his intestines from eating non-edible items (rubber shoes/sandals). This surgery cost us $2.5K+ and we were able to cover this on our end, draining our emergency savings in the process. Coming out of this surgery, we sprayed down all shoes and sandals with bitter apple per the vet’s direction, and all previous shoes and sandals that he’s targeted were hidden away from plain sight and was somewhere that he could not reach.

Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, he still found some rubber to chew on and has become blocked in his intestines again. The surgery cost is the same as the 2nd one ($2.5K), we are able to partially cover this which is why we’re only asking for whatever amount people can help with, which is why I posted a range on the post title. The gofundme goal is set to $1.8K but anything honestly helps as we’re trying to figure out how to pay for Charlie’s surgery.

Moving forward, we will tailor our living situation and living space to be conducive to his health. Any rubber material will be removed from our house, because we want to avoid this from happening ever again. We just want him to live out a happy and healthy life with us, especially since he’s still so young and has so much more life to live.
