How do I human? What efforts can a girl do to improve her chances of being seen as a romantic interest and less of a "bro"?

I am a (almost) 31 year old woman but i wanted se perspective from males in the age range i date (27-35).

I dress like those goth/rock/punk chicks you would see in old school cartooms (ex: sam manson from danny phantom and the hex girls from scooby doo)....though i do have a few "elegant" dresses stashed away in my closet for more formal events like weddings, black tye dinners, ans et.cetra. I have also recently bought a few business causal outfits and a wig to hide my green highlights because I am trying to build a career in childcare/education and want to be taken seriously whenever i go to interviews. My free time is usually spent with friends, gaming, watching anime or movies, reading (both novels and superhero comics). And i am also a sucker for collecting hello kitty merch whenever i have a little extra money to spare. when I go out, I like going to barcades, the mall, the cinema, karoke nights, nerd conventions, or to a nice diner.

I even have no problem approaching men. In fact, most of the relationships I have been in have been iniated by me.

However i notice that 70% of the time i am try dating, the guys I show interest in tend to see me more of a friend rather than someone they might date. And that is find...but at some point you gotta ask yourself what you are doing wrong.

I sometimes wonder between my interests and my wardrobe choices I am just seen as too "masculine"?

Or maybe i am.just too awkward and bad at flirting?

Idk....can you yall lend a girl a hand?

Weird Question Do most men think speedos are gay?

I wear speedos at the beach. But only in Europe. In the States I get weird looks and sometimes some attention from gay men. I’m also told that in the States women are quite put off by a man in speedos. In Europe it’s quite normal. But then again that’s just two cultural hemispheres and I’m sure there are a lot more opinions out there.

how did you get the stench out of your feet?

My boyfriend has often very stinky feet and even new shoes get smelly pretty fast. He himself suffers moderately from this (for example, he has a pair of new shoes he only wears to see his physical therapist so that when he removes the shoes for the appointment there won't be stench). He washes/scrubs his feet when he showers.

I think he puts it off as a "man thing" and hasn't really looked into it himself. I now thought I'd post here and see if some of you men have had the same problem and found a solution that works well for you?

TIA :)

Existential post How do you deal with constant uncertainty?

For the last few years since my parents passed away, I’ve been dealing with uncertainty about all aspects of my life.

I’m the type of person that will inevitably create his own stress, and for the last few days it’s been consuming me. I’m starting to see slivers of gray hair in my late 20s.

I go to therapy. I take Wellbutrin.

I feel like the world is slowly caving in on me and I’m going to be crushed.

My company is being acquired, and layoffs are a staggering possibility.

My wife and I just closed on a house, and are cleaning the other to put on the market but it slowing down makes me worried about two house payments.

I’m quite literally drowning in debt from a previous divorce, court costs, etc.

My kids are growing up and I feel like
I’m not the father I should be for them.

I try to look back and acknowledge I’ve made it through every hard thing I’ve had to deal with in the past, but this feeling of impending doom keeps coming back and putting a strain on not just my life, but my relationships with my wife, kids, and friends.

How do you guys handle these intense times of uncertainty?

Why can feelings in relationships change so suddenly?

I've noticed that sometimes a man can seem very affectionate, loving, and genuinely happy in a relationship till the end, only for the relationship to end unexpectedly suddenly shortly afterward.

For men who have experienced this yourselves, what was going on emotionally? Did your feelings change suddenly, or had you been having doubts for a while without showing them?

Men in a happy marriage, how do you handle your postpartum wife’s needs ?

Fellow men, give me answers . So for context im 5 months postpartum. Me and husband had great chemistry and literally best friends hanging out all the time before my pregnancy. After pregnancy he entered my full time caregiver and father mode. We are in long distance temporarily for medical care . He Was with me throughout labour and an amazing involved father. Even now we speak all the time on calls and he spend almost all of his free time apart from work , with me . The only change is he shows me almost zero physical affection. Not even basic hugs or forehead kisses. Always stays few feet away me . Initially i thought it was sweet that he is giving me time to recover. But now it has become the norm despite me trying to initiate anything. The continuous and only response he gives is that “He respects me too much now. He sees me as a mother now and that he only feels love towards me. No physical desire so far” As sweet as this sounds, I am afraid that this might have permanently changed our relationship dynamic . Or he might get physically attracted to someone else during this long distance . Or im ugly now and he is just not saying that to not hurt my feelings (although im already close to my pre pregnancy weight) .

Do men actually stay away bcz of respect for few months? Will we become normal again ? Or is he hiding something?

What's the worst/weirdest gift you've ever gotten?

As the holiday season approaches, most male gift related commercials trend towards power tools so we can do work and fix stuff, while women get the diamonds and clothing marketing. I got snow boots for my bday one year, I live in AZ and they've been used once. I asked my family and wife to stop getting me gifts, saying if I want something, I'll just go get it. I am also the sole provider for my house, so my wife feels odd buying me something with "my income" despite us sharing the funds equally, I prefer it that way tbh.

Have you gotten any odd gifts, or something that was a clear sign that you were an after thought?

Where would you be spending most of your time if you were wildly rich?

If you were a billionaire, would you have a big mansion with lots of amenities and spend most of your time there? Or have multiple vacation homes and switch between them? Would you travel around the world alot? Circle around restaurants, bars and outside events? How do you imagine you'd be spending your 'fun time'?

What is the male equivalent of flowers/candy/stuffed animals? (Not that you can’t like all three of those). But let’s say you get your partner flowers every so often, what is something your partner can give you that makes you feel appreciated and let you know that you were in their thoughts ?

How to deal wth Daddy Issues

I grew up without a father, no brother, no male friends or any male figure to look up to. I've only ever had female friends but now I'm in a city where I have no friends just me, my sisters & my family

I want to be able to look at myself and go through life on my own but I always try to find an older (age or mentality) man to "protect" me. I'm gay but most people can't tell because I move through life with a charm that a straight guy would have (been told) and work as hard as I can.

Sexuality doesn't matter here but I mention it because I was in a short relationship with a man that basically felt like having a father or an older brother: intelligent, confident, hard worker, charismatic, high ego but not to the point where he put down others and tons of self love. It ended because I was insecure with myself and after it ended I kept trying to chase him because I didn't want to lose that male figure that was "protecting me" and made me feel like a man

That ended and though I work as hard as I can, study extra things I'd rather not learn but need to do, go to the gym, eat as best as I can & try my hardest to keep promises to myself, I still want to know that there's someone out there who wants to protect me

I'm not sure at all if it's daddy issues or just being so devastated after being heartbroken from a perfect relationship we both considered close to marriage till I ruined it by an insecurity I chose to comfortably run away from

- I'm working on that insecurity now so my next relationship will surely be the best

What’s it like moving away and starting fresh ?

I have recently been looking at moving away from my home town to explore some new career opportunities. Higher pay and more options etc. And was hoping to get this subs opinion.

I have lived in my hometown for my entire life and went to university here. It’s a smaller mid size city of 800,000 where everyone pretty much knows everyone or is connected in some way.

I was hoping to get the subs thoughts and experiences on moving to a new city with no connections. Some people I speak with claim it’s the greatest feeling moving somewhere and starting fresh. Others spoke of it being very lonely.

Looking back….

Are you happy with your choice ?
Did you regret it?
Was it tough trying to build a new social circle?

I would be moving from a mid size Canadian city to potentially some larger US cities. Excluding metropolises like NYC etc.

Early 30s with a partner.

How can you tell if a girl is being friendly or interested 😭

I know these get asked all the time but humour me.

So I’m in the same class as this girl, have known each other for years but only properly started talking this year. I will say to preface that she is a lovely, friendly person, and I am being conscious of that when reading signals.

A few things though:
\- she’s invited me along for coffee when her and her friend were going after class
\- she’s hit me on the hand when joking as she was sitting beside me
\- in that same interaction when doing a group task our arms were lightly touching for 5 seconds and maybe I was just hyper aware of it but neither of us moved for a while
\- she does seem very interested in interacting with me and asking me questions

Today in particular I was walking out and she was heading to a class in 15 mins, we ended up talking for 20-25, she was late to the class but told me to come along too. For a module we also have to do a survey and she said she’d send my survey to her friends and her FAMILY. And like during these 20 mins we were laughing, easy energy, even during odd silences she kept the conversation going rather than going off to class.

I guess the thing puzzling me is that it’s not like we’re close friends for years. Like we’re friendly acquaintances that have started talking way more recently and I don’t know what to make of it…
