I'm interested in studying a Bachelor of Psychology or a Bachelor of Social Work and I'm trying to understand how Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) work.
On the RMIT website, it says the maximum annual student contribution amount for 2027 is $9,880 per standard year, or $1,235 per standard 12-credit-point course. This seems like quite a lot still, but is amazing that it is also much lower. I know I'd also need to take out a HECS-HELP loan to cover my student contribution.
But I'm wondering how many Commonwealth Supported Places universities typically offer for these degrees or in total and how much the government contributes towards the cost of a student's education (rather than the amount covered by the student or their HECS-HELP loan), and what the total course fees usually work out to be.
If anyone has studied either of these degrees through a CSP or any other undergraduate I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience! How much did you pay in total for your degree and roughly how much did the government subsidise?
Share what you feel comfortable with.
Thank you.
