I have plans for a big boss battle that includes 4 guards, an elite guard, and a huge “Devil of temptation” (it’s more gross than sexy, but still)

I just don’t know what kind of summonable minions to use for the big fat demon boss or what stat sheets to use for the boss or minions!

I’m thinking of taking the skills from this stat sheet for the big boss and just reworking them to make sense… but like, I can’t find any stat sheets that seem to work for the minions

Would ooze minions be enough for a party of 4 level 7 players??

So a couple of years ago my wife and I opened a game shop in San Diego and I noticed it was really hard to get new players; they were really into the idea of playing D&D but didn't want to buy the book right away. D&D really can be a time consuming game to learn and kind of scares off a lot of new players in my opinion. Daily I talk to people that say, I always wanted to play but don't know where to start". There are so many other options for games to play from TCG's, board games to even table top war games that are easier to learn. About six months ago I decided to write and design 40 page printed book, a simple reference guide that I could give to new players at our game shop for free. I'm also going to release the digital PDF copy of it to the internet for free. I'm planing on putting it up on my google drive for anyone in the world to download for free. I personally hate having to give my personal information to download something for free.

So my question is for the mods here. The book will be finished by next week and I wanted to know if I could post the google drive link here. The book is free, I'm making NO money from it, there is no hidden advertisements to Kraken Dice, just me designing and writing a book to share with the community to give something back that I think is needed.

I know at 9th level Wish lets you, but a 9th level wizard is so rare it can basically not exist in-world.

I know the balance reason is for clerics to be more appealing but that is not in-universe. There is no rule made by Ao that says sorry wizards can't heal lol.

I was just imagining a silly scenario. A wizard able to cast like 8th level spells. Incredibly powerful magic. They can travel miles away instantly or decimate entire armies with a spell. But they can't mend their stubbed toe?

They spen't hours pouring over ancient texts of arcane lore and knowledge, but did not once go over a healing spell? Does't seem likely that they wouldn't know about or be interested in such magic. Since they are supposed to be smart they would know having an emergency healing spell would be super useful.

So what is the in-Faerun reason for not having such spells? Forbidden by gods? Jealiously guarded by Clerics? Seen as inferior by wizards and not used out of arrogance?

Divine magic and Arcane magic used to be separate types of magic but it is now the same. So why haven't wizards learned to heal yet?

I was looking for some expert opinions from some DM's. I know there are so many different ways to do things, I know some players like just pencil and paper, others like an elaborate setup with minis and terrain. If giving the option do you prefer using something like a pre-designed map to play on or a more basic game mat design like grass or cobblestone with one inch grids, like the game mats above?

Myself owning a game shop and having beyond a crazy amount of mini figures and terrain, I personally like using a 1" square grid on 3'x3' game mat like the designs I have created above.

I ask this because I'm going to be running a kickstarter for our custom Quick Mats where I will be working one on one with the backers to help them create their perfect game mat. They will be able to customize the mat, put their team or shop logo on it, or even print their own design. So I am wondering if I should stick with what I have designed myself in photoshop, more simple terrain game mats or if I should put together some D&D maps for it. There is part of me that wants to stick to the basic layout like cobblestone and then a 1 inch grid since that is how I normally play. I'm hoping I can get some opinions, good or bad, honest feedback is all I'm looking for. If anyone is interested you can learn more about the coming kickstarter here that will launch around mid November:

While watching several videos about wizards one thing kept coming up. Healing and wizards lack of ability to do so. I've been messing around a bit with D&D beyond and decided to make a wizard on there.

It only gave me one sub class option the Invoker so I pick my only option.

After picking a Acolyte background it brings me to a something called a Magic Initiate.

It asks me to choose Int. Cha or Wis.

I picked Int and was able to pick three spells

I immediately see

Guidance

Spare the dying(feels healing adjacent)

Mending

Cure Wounds

Healing Word

among the spells available. Am I missing something? The very first class I look into immediately gives me all kinds of healing options and If I had to guess I'd say other sub classes of Wizard probably have access to the same spells.

The people I hear say wizards can't heal say it like its just a common understood fact. So what's the deal? Is D&D beyond just giving me options that I shouldn't be able to pick or what?

Magic items are mundane items imbued with power from the weave, but what part of the item actually holds the magic, and is the shape or the material the important part for maintaining the enchantment. For example, if you had a magic sword that dealt additional lightning damage on hits, but you would rather have a Kopesh or a spear, could you reshape the steel to form the new head and modify the handle to create a new weapon bearing the enchantment or does that ruin it. Furthermore if it is the shape that holds the enchantment, how much of the initial material can be damaged and replaced without it losing the enchantment. Can it all be replaced or is there a specific point in which the shape is no longer considered the same.

Hi,

Does a bugbear's surprise attack stack if it makes multiple attacks?

Let's say it attacks three times (Light weapons, Extra attack) and a Battlemaster makes it attack another time. Does it make +8d6 extra total damage?

• Surprise Attack. If you hit a creature with an attack roll, the creature takes an extra 2d6 damage if it hasn’t taken a turn yet in the current combat.

I wanna set the mood for my D&D room. I can do pretty much whatever. Yes it is a garage but it has it's own ac and bathroom. What are some decorations that I could put up, lights I could string, like things to put on the walls (like wallpaper or posters, or things I could add to make this a cool D&D setting?

I have a 3d printer, and don't worry about prices (I can worry about that)

Twists with either backstory, how they work mechanically or roleplaying them.

Hii, I'm trying to cook up an easy character sheet for the kiddos and found this template online. Unfortunately the link to their google drive to download doesn't work anymore - so I thought I'd try to recreate a high res version of it. Trouble is, as a beginner I'm really not certain what some of the pixelated text says. Could someone offer some insight into what these might be saying? Whole image and labeled unknowns. Thanks!!

I just thought of a random D&D character I WILL PROBABLY NEVER USE because I don't know were to go to play D&D, but like here's is the concept a monk that only uses their power for bad on accident and can brake the 4 wall but is a dumb as a potato and does not realise that they are committing crimes like, here's one, it's not really a crime. The monk walk up to the king then just slaps him and then takes a few step back and then just starts break dancing and he speaks like the hulk or something and I'm either imagining him being like small, like scrabby, doo like i don't know can someone help me Polish this D&D idea up oh yeah is this a good D&D idea
