Desks I need help choosing an affordable gaming desk.
I want to buy a new desk for esports. The budget is under Β£200. Would rather spend less if possible, without losing quality. It needs to be:
No wobble.
height adjustable
Can Support a monitor arm without problem, as well as a mic arm.
160cm x 70 - 80.
Would be nice if the desk was aesthetically pleasing.
Here are a few Iβve been thinking about getting, but have no clue how good they are, and I want to make the right choice so I donβt waste money:
UTESPELARE, IKEA
ergonomist Electric Standing Desk

Other Monitor arm for a vertical monitor setup
Never used monitor arms before, I want to have a third monitor above my main, but I'm not sure the kind of monitor arm I should get. Do I get 2 single arms? Dual arm?

Monitors Looking for a monitor arm that faces straight down towards the floor for a bed setup
I can either mount it on my desk (right next to bed) or my bed frame. Can't drill into my wall unfortunately since I'm renting but I'd really like to get a monitor I can use from my bed while looking straight up at the ceiling to avoid neck pains.
Trying to avoid getting those ipad mounts cuz it simply wont be as good as playing from my pc directly

Desks Dual Monitor Arm on IKEA LINNMON
I have seen a couple of posts regarding issues with the honeycomb filling that the IKEA LINNMON table top has and mounting a dual monitor arm, regarding the pressure on one spot. Several posts have mentioned placing planks / metal sheets to spread the weight of the mount and monitors.
I wondered if something like this would work?

Hardware Desk Thingy
I just posted on the main battlestations subreddit, which after discovering this, i assume that one will be swifty removed, doh!
i appreciate this post isn't a typical full 'battlestation' setup, BUT this is the right community to get some feedback on a product I'm developing.
I found myself a few months ago looking for a simple volume dial for my PC and Mac. I bought one from amazon that did the standard 12 step rotation and click, it was fine but really poor quality. I looked at more premium options, but they mostly seem to be more focussed on features and niches like music production and very detailed macros with software you have to download. I did buy one called Cololight, but it was super complicated and still felt cheap honestly, it just wasn't what i I personally was looking for.
I have a prototype for something that works, for me at least. I wanted to get the smooth feel of an 80's quality hi-fi knob working with modern hardware, like a programmable microcontroller, displays, LEDs, advanced sensors etc. I'm still at the stage where the working model (simple plug 'n' play with PC, Mac, iOS and Android) is a mess of wires, but I'm confident after a few revisions I can turn this into a good looking/fully working product.
Product features: Intuitive taps for basic media controls, super smooth volume rotation, scroll mode, human presence detection for auto sleep and desk-time vs break time, temperature and humidity sensor to help you work in the best environment. (I'm open to ideas here...)
If this were to become more than just a desktop prototype for me (a small batch of a few hundred units to justify some of the investment costs), what features would you want from a product like this? Have I missed anything obvious or overlooked anything? Would this look good on your desk? I'm just trying to get a feeling of how i could improve this overall (although, like any product, i can't add all features for everyone).
A small bit about me: I'm from London, UK. I've worked as a car designer over the past 15 years for Land Rover, Dyson and currently at McLaren. I understand how things can be manufactured at prototype and at scale and have some knowledge with microcontrollers/prototyping to help bring my good/bad ideas to life.
I would LOVE feedback from anyone and everyone, especially those who would actually buy something like this.
Thanks!
Space Cadet.

Chairs Is ditching a racing-style gaming chair for an ergonomic desk chair actually a smart move?
My old bucket seat gaming chair is completely shot, and putting in eight hours between desk work and evening gaming feels like strapping into an iron maiden lined with plastic wrap. The fixed padding hits my lower back like a stray brick, and the faux leather turns into a personal sauna after about ninety minutes.
I keep debating whether to stick with a redesigned gaming hybrid or jump straight over to a full mesh ergonomic desk chair like the nouhaus ergo3d. The main thing holding me back from mesh is wondering if dynamic lumbar pads and tension adjustments give you enough firm support when you lean back, or if they start sagging after a year of heavy use.Iβm also wondering how you properly weigh the pros and cons of these chairs.
For people who made the switch from a stiff gaming seat to an adjustable ergonomic chair, did the extra adjustment points actually help your posture during long sessions?

Hardware How much dust can a tiny PC collect before temperatures actually change?

I was checking the vents on my geekom and realized I've never really thought about how quickly mini PCs collect dust.
They have a lot of ventilation for their size, so I'm curious how much buildup it actually takes before temperatures start changing.
Anyone here had one for a few years and compared temperatures before and after cleaning?

New Build Help SETUP BUILD PLANS... HELP/OPINIONS NEEDED!!ππ»
I've been pre-planning/picking things for my content creator/work setup that I am going to purchase in a few months. The plan is to go all out to build my dream setup & not have to upgrade anything really for a long time. This is what i've found/currently at with everything. Wanting to get some opinions whether its which of the PC's I
should get, money I could save in areas, or different options not shown or whatever. The last picture is a rough AI sketch I did for my vision. ANY COMMENTS/OPINIONS APPRECIATED!!π€

New Build Help Monitor and peripheral mounting
Looking for some help with redoing my setup. I've currently got a 34" ultra wide plus two vertical 24" monitors (one each side) on a triple mount. The problem is this takes up the whole of the back of my desk and means I'm struggling to find space for my speakers and MoRa 360 radiator.
I've been running possible solutions through my head and the best I've come up with is getting rid of the monitor stand and creating something bespoke with aluminium extrusion (probably 4080 or 40120). Effectively a DIY version of this - https://www.dataflex-int.com/en/artnr/58702/viewlite-toolbar---desk-702
The rough plan would be running a length of 2080 flat along the top of my desk, mounting three 4080 uprights then creating a top bar with more 4080.
I'm running into two main problems, firstly how to secure the base to my desk without it looking janky as hell. I'm theorising some kind of screw clamp that mounts into the top t slot. The second issue is then how to mount my monitors. I know there are static mounts available for sim rigs but I like the ability to have it on an arm.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Monitors How do you check monitor size before buying? I made a free iPhone AR preview
Before buying a bigger monitor, it helps to see how much space the screen will take in your actual setup.
I made DisplayMath. On a supported iPhone, choose a monitor or TV and tap View in AR to see its screen panel at real size in your room. You can try different sizes one at a time.
Here is a 32 inch monitor beside a 42 inch LG OLED to try
https://displaymath.com/?d=4k-32_80cm,lg-c3-42_100cm&o=novd#canvas
The preview shows the screen panel. Check the product's stand, bezel and mount dimensions separately. There are also iPhone AR tools for measuring viewing distance and eye height.
The screen comparisons and AR previews are free and need no account. I used AI coding assistance while building it.
How do you usually check a new screen size before buying: tape, cardboard or something else?
