Artist alley pricing ?

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I plan to sell Prints (A4) , Acrylic Keychains , Acrylic standees, pins , n various odd items that are on vograce (like keycaps, plushie stuff , tapestries, body pillows, etc)
But idk how to go about pricing stuff , I usually see prints for 10-25 but idk if my arts good enough to be above 10? Literally any advice would be appreciated 😭
I was also thinking (once I finish’s them ofc) actually printing my manga into physical copies. For one of them I was gonna do a bundle with 2 manga’s (granted short ones) 3 stickers , a keychain and possibly an acrylic stand. But I’m unsure if it would be too pricey to sell? Usually I’m good at pricing stuff but I see so much variation of it in the artist alley idk what to do😭 ty for reading this:>

How can I do a more realistic drawing?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I did this drawing of Ella Langley about a month ago, and even though I do like how it turned out, I still want to do one that looks more realistic. What can I do to reach that goal?

I do the Loomis Method to the best of my understanding, and I've been reading through tips online, but I still am not fully grasping it.

Also, what can I do to improve the shading?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

Been trying to get good and try new things so if there’s any critiques, say it now.

Also, I don’t think I should hatch anymore. My fingies hurt :(

AI Is AI for cleaning up drawings ok? And another question

New to all this.
I’ve always been drawing, but never had an actual goal or wider audience. Just enjoying me-time drawing stuff I like.

For this Christmas, I promised my nieces a colouring book. They love my zombie drawings, I draw a lot of zombie themed stuff, so I created a Xmas/ zombie crossover.

The story is ready, they already got some pictures as a teaser, and passed it on to friends, who also passed it on, and I get texts from lots of people now to publish it because they also like it and want to buy it. I dont use any social media apart from Reddit but my sister is in a lot of parents facebook groups, and seems like my drawings are kind of getting a bigger response than expected.

I do take some pride in my drawings, but never had so many people interested in what I do. Do you think it’s ok to use AI in the process? Or would it be like scamming people? I never did a colouring book, and the AI clean-up was a logical last step to me making it look neater and printable. I used it for neat lines and fonts.(Im sooo bad at fonts)
But I feel bad about it if it reaches a bigger audience, and people I dont know.

I started sending out panels on WhatsApp, but nobody wants to print out the pictures themselves, they want a full printed colouring book.
The list is getting longer, there’s more texts coming in daily. I’m posting this because it’s over 500 people as of today, and I’m feeling a bit lost.

So what do I do?
Print it at my local copy shop, send it, and use PayPal? That’s too time-consuming. And expensive. Over 500 copies? I cant handle that. What other options do I have?

That leads to my second question: how to distribute it?
Seems like Amazon is the easiest option, because I dont have to print and send out hundreds of copies.

Is it even allowed to upload artwork on Amazon when AI was involved, even if it’s just the last clean-up? I don’t know anything about publishing, copyrights, or requirements/ process for self-publishing (which seems the most viable option)

So my questions are,
is it legitimate in general to clean up your drawings with AI, for a wider audience?
Can I publish the book on Amazon, and is the process doable in 2 weeks or so?
Is it expensive to do?
Is there an alternative to Amazon?
What would a reasonable pricing be?

Most importantly: Thanks for your input, I’m a bit overwhelmed rn.
I never posted in this sub, I hope my questions are not bothering anyone!
Merry early Christmas to everyone <3

Will fixative spray work on glass?

I'm not really an artist, but I've recently been practicing identifying fungi & making spore prints with mushroom caps. Originally I was using paper but fresh caps hold a good amount of moisture so I've switched to microscope slides & picture frame glass for some of the larger caps. I'd really like to preserve my most recent print with black construction paper behind it (the spores are white) but I don't want to smear the spores when I'm setting the back of the frame inside. Other mycologists recommend fixative spray (or hairspray) when using paper, but will this also work to hold it in place on glass?

If not, can you recommend a type of paper or canvas that won't wrinkle or show water spots once the spore prints dry?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

I found 8 of these small things in a bag stapled to the back of the frame of my new canvas and I have no idea what they are or what they do (measurements: 2cm x 0.5cm x 5.8cm)

I only want to make art for other people

Subconsciously.

And I feel like I can’t ā€œunlockā€ myself creatively until I break away from this mindset; I should be making art for me (?) but instead I’m trying to please/impress a stranger.

I’m wondering if anyone else to relates to this issue, and if they were able to conquer it.

How are you supposed to monatize art?

So, I saw a post on a different sub a while back complaining about people thinking commissions were the only option for monetizing their art, and I guess I'm just wondering what else is there?

Obviously there's illustration, and selling prints or paintings and whatnot, but is there another way outside of those?

i love drawing/painting and in my opinion got to a point where i really improved and felt proud of my skills. life happened, hobbies fell off, however im getting back into painting cause i just had the urge to. the last time i painted was almost 10 years ago though so you can image my skills are back to basically none. i started a project but have been struggling to get it look similar to the reference picture. i am aware no one can teach me through a comment and i just have to practice a lot more to get better again but does anyone have any advice or good videos they can link for something you are noticing me doing bad/wrong and that might help? thank you!

Did anyone learn to draw as an adult?

Hello! I’m curious if anyone here has learned to draw as an adult. I’m 26 and I cannot draw to save my life. I use to dabble when I was a kid but it’s obviously been a very very long time. I really want to learn to draw in that comic superheroy style so to speak but I have no idea where to start. Any advice?

Been trying to learn new ways of drawing and designing. Someone suggested a different method of sketching and I struggled with it before eventually making it work.

I also wanted to experiment with hatching to see how it would look and idk how I feel about it.

Lend me your ears. (Or eyes? Or fingers to type?)

Btw the character is for a DND oneshot. She’s a warforged gunslinger. Her name is Jolene.

Not sure whether this is the correct place to ask but it's quite niche so I'm not sure there is a right place? (If I'm wrong feel free to point me in the right direction).

I volunteered at an art gallery over a decade ago, they were clearing out a lot of old books/magazines and many were given to me.

I've had them sitting around for a while, I was about to get my scalpel and cut bits out of them and make collages/framed cutouts of front covers.

Then it hit me, are these worth anything? Will I regret destroying what are basically antique books/media?

I've had a look at Abe Books and some are being sold for around £70. But I don't know if there's much of a market for these things and don't really know if they're in good enough condition to be worth it?

As artists, would you preserve these pieces of history, or....make new art from them?
