Hobby & Community Does anyone know anything about the discounted classes at Freeside?

The discount is only for some and the classes that do have a discount says it's for Fulton County residents but are they actually checking?

Group in question (with the discounted classes): https://www.meetup.com/freeside-atlanta

Things to Do Anyone up for hiking Stone Mountain this weekend? 🥾🌿

Hey everyone! 😊
I’m thinking of hiking Stone Mountain and thought it would be fun to go with a few people rather than go alone. Is anyone interested in joining me?
I’m open to meeting new people, enjoying the hike, and having a good time. If anyone’s interested, let me know, and we can plan a day and time!
Looking forward to meeting some fellow hiking enthusiasts! 🌄

Visiting Recommendations for a mobile makeup artist who can also tie gele? Visiting Atlanta for a Nigerian wedding

Hi all!
I'm visiting Atlanta in November for a Nigerian wedding and looking for a talented MUA who can also do gele. I'd need someone willing to come to me in the Buckhead area.

Looking for:

Makeup artist comfortable/regularly works with dark skin clients (ideally with photos of past work)

Experience with gele headtie (ideally with photos of past work)

Mobile service, as I'll be getting ready at my accommodation

If you've used someone you loved, please drop their name or Instagram handle in the comments or DM me. Prices and availability are helpful too. Thank you!

Civic & Government Thoughts on Placie?

I’m filling out my early voting papers and Zane Placie is running for District supervisor of soil and water. For someone who seems to be very critical of how secretive and mysterious the current supervisors are on his website. I’m thrown off by how hypocritical he seems (no photos whatsoever). I was wondering if anyone else had any thoughts about him.

Other Customer Service at Coca-Cola Roxy

I accidentally/stupidly got the wrong parking pass for a concert at the Coca-Cola Roxy. I called Ticketmaster and they were super unhelpful. I was wondering if anyone had any luck getting in touch with the Roxy. I’ve called 3 times and just been put to voicemail.

Things to Do Tips and advice for Cosm

I’m interested in catching Harry Potter, It, or Wonka. Is the dome really worth the hype? Would you do it again with different movies having experienced it once? Are there seats to avoid or look for first? Any advice is appreciated 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Hobby & Community Recommendations for Spanish-speaking churches with a contemporary vibe?

Hey everyone!
My husband and I have been attending Passion City Church for about a year now, and we absolutely love the atmosphere, worship music, and overall sense of community!
However, we’re both Latino and have been wanting to find a church where we can worship in Spanish and connect with more of the Hispanic community.
We’re hoping to find a Spanish-speaking (or bilingual) Christian church in Atlanta or the surrounding areas with a similar contemporary, welcoming vibe. Think modern worship music, engaging sermons, and a strong sense of community rather than a more traditional church setting.
Does anyone have any recommendations? We’d love to hear about churches you’ve personally attended and enjoyed!

Thanks in advance!

Things to Do Recommendations for getting discounted Fox Tickets?

My partner’s birthday is coming up and a musical she really loves, Death Becomes Her, is coming to the Fox in November. Normally, I would just buy tickets directly but I’ve been out of work for months and can’t quite afford full price this time, haha.

I’ve been eyeballing StubHub, TickPicks and SeatGeek, but I wanted to ask the folks that live a little closer if there were any other things to look in to, or if there’s one they recommend over the other.

I want to try to get some decent seats rather than just opt for nosebleeds, we’ve had a rough year overall and I want to try to make it special.

Hobby & Community How does one throw a party if they’ve never thrown one before?

This might sound a little ambitious, but please bear with me.

I’ve been thinking about this for a while now, very long while. And I really think we’ve gotten so used to being in our own little worlds that we’ve forgotten how much we actually need each other. Or rather we’ve gotten so scared to connect with one another.

Everyone’s on their phones, everyone’s in their heads, and I feel like so many of us actually WANT to go out, meet people, make friends, have random conversations with strangers, and just experience life a little more. But for some reason, actually putting ourselves out there has become this really daunting humiliating intimidating thing.

And I think that sucks. Like really really sucks.

I’m a college student here in Atlanta it’s my last semester before I move out, and I don’t know, I’ve just been thinking about how nice it would be to actually do something about this instead of constantly talking about how lonely everyone is.

So I wanna throw a party.
Or maybe a social event is a better way to describe it? I honestly don’t know yet lmao.

But I have this idea of creating a space where people can show up alone, meet complete strangers, have actual conversations, dance, laugh, play games, and just have an actual good time without feeling like they need to already know somebody to belong there.

Not some corporate networking event. Not one of those weird forced icebreaker sessions where everyone is secretly praying for it to end already. Just something fun, intentional, and human.

And I think what really matters to me is that people actually leave feeling like they connected with someone. Even if it’s just one person. They went out of their way to go to some event they saw online and actually felt good that they did. I think that would be really cool.

Now here’s the funny part.

I’ve never organized anything like this before. I don’t have a venue, a team, or some elaborate event-planning experience. I don’t even know what the first step is supposed to be.

I just have an idea that I genuinely believe I can make happen, and I really wanna try (Especially before I leave. Heck this might be a post no one responds to but i’m trying regardless)

So Atlanta, I’m curious.

For those of you who’ve organized parties, meetups, or social events before, how did you actually get started? How did you find a venue, figure out costs, get people to show up, and make sure it was something people enjoyed?

And for everyone else reading, I’m curious too. What would make you actually want to show up to something like this? Especially if you were coming alone?

I know this is all a little vague right now, but I’m serious about wanting to make it happen. I think more than ever we could all use a little of this.

Would graciously appreciate any advice, ideas, or even just hearing about your experiences.

Things to Do Sewing classes

Hey!

I’m a semi beginner. I kinda already know how to use my machine but I’m very cautious to start a big project. I’ve looked at some classes but they all seem to be week long courses that are out of my budget or they’re during the week days while I’m working.

I’m in the Alpharetta/Milton area and am willing to travel for a class. I’m wanting to meet other young sewers like myself too. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I've gotten great haircuts from straight men before who are allies, so if you know someone who fits that bill to I'd be interested.

Visiting Visiting Atlanta for the first time, any tips or suggestions regarding safety?

Me (20) and my girlfriends are taking a trip to Atlanta for the Harry concert. I live in small town AL and i’ve never been in a big city like this before. My mother is VERY worried and I think her anxiety is rubbing off on me a little bit. Our Airbnb is near the Barker Bryant Memorial Park, is that a safe area for young women? What other areas should we avoid? I just want a little reassurance from ATL residents lol

(edit: Thank you for the advice everyone! You guys have definitely eased my anxiety and I’m super excited for the trip ☺️)
