Even as kind of liberal myself i can't stand this turbo left agenda

u/StreetCrzyBiteUrFace 21d ago
I've always favored the Supercharged Left slightly over the Turbo Left. The instant acceleration is hard to beat, imho.

u/strawberycreamcheese 21d ago
But it's always fun to hear a turbo left blow off. The super left just whine
19
u/Noelle-Spades 21d ago
Do these people not realise that most if not all people on the left do not have or use these sort of terms? Like at all? Or is that just my circles? Because I can't think of any equivalent for a 'woke mob' or 'turbo left' or really any agenda other than a queer agenda in queer circles

i mean it tracks, scratch a liberal and a fascist bleeds

u/SethLight 21d ago
I highly doubt you have the ability to do it, but I would love to hear a coherent explanation of why you think liberals are facist.
44
u/dw444 21d ago
Because when push comes to shove, they support fascists and their capital over the common people. The liberal Democratic Party establishment is fighting tooth and nail against moderately left wing DSA members pulling the party to barely left of center, while the Democratic house minority leader conducts secret meetings with an unelected criminal in Kushner.
The most famous historic case is 1930s Germany though where German liberals, fearing a communist takeover, helped elect the conservative von Hindenburg knowing it would lead to Hitler rising to power. Literally the most well known fascist in modern history was only able to rise to power due to liberal/social democratic support.

That's not fascism or what it looks like. The defining characteristics are:
Hypernationalism
Distain for human rights
Identification of Enemies to scapegoat
Supremacy of the military
Rampant Chauvinism
Controlled mass media
Obsession with national security
Corporate power is protected
Labor is supressed
Distain for intellectuals and art
Obsession with crime
Rampant cronyism and corruption
Fraudulent elections.
Modern conservatives follow this line far more closely and is why historians call Trump a fascist. The guy follows the definition.

You're the only one thinking they are saying that liberals are fascists.

The literal original quote that was posted: "i mean it tracks, scratch a liberal and a fascist bleeds"

u/TheLastBallad 21d ago
Yes, they did quote a well known metaphor. And multiple people have explained that saying, highlighting how its not saying "they are the same" but rather "when push comes to shove Liberals will side with other conservatives over progressives."
I mean seriously, you were given 3 different historical(well, does August of this year count as historical? if not two historical and one current) examples of moderates siding with extreme conservatives over progressives. Like you literally ignored the historical example of Germany's liberals siding with the Nazis over the communists to hyper fixate on deliberately misinterpreting what is being said.
You can continue to insist on a literal interpretation of a metaphor after multiple people have informed you of its non-literal meaning... but no one has to respect you for doing that.

u/SethLight 21d ago
3 examples? The only historical example I read was from the Nazi comment, which is the same brain dead take that the Nazi's were socialist.
I think in fairness you can have issues with the DNC, but calling them fascist is rather silly when we have another party that is mask off fascist.
7
u/dw444 21d ago
Your takeaway from the Nazi comment was that it was implying the Nazis were socialists? Like, have you ever picked up a history book? Or an English grammar one? The Nazis rose to power because German liberals helped them in order to prevent socialists from taking over. Liberals and socialists are not friends. Socialists don’t like liberals and vice versa. When liberals fear that socialist may acquire power, they side with fascists. That’s the whole point of the scratch a liberal quote. It’s a socialist quote, not a conservative one.
This is the most egregious case of r/whoosh and lack of historical literacy I’ve seen in a while.

Your takeaway from the Nazi comment was that it was implying the Nazis were socialists?
I can understand the confusion because I wasn't very clear on the wording. I was saying it's the same vein as the same brain dead take conservatives love to repeat; that nazis were socalist because of their name.
Also, I know quite well liberalism and socialism are different things and not fans.

at the end of the day, fascism acts as capitalism in decline. whenever there's a percieved grave crisis in capitalism that's prolonged enough, traits we associate with fascism such as bigotry as state policy, an idealisation of the nation, "law and justice" and justification of military action to keep the crisis, imaginary or not, from affecting the capitalists' riches and more often than not, expanding it.
In the US, where y'all associate liberalism and the democrat party with the left it may come as a shock that many democrats aided and supported regimes such as pinochet's in chile or trujillo's in the dominican republic, yet it's true, as well as all the support israel has gotten over the years from not only US liberals, but most of NATO at one point or another.

u/SethLight 21d ago
Simple question then, do you think the right wing is more or less fascist than the left?
13
u/Libsoc_guitar_boi 21d ago
more, kinda obvious innit?
edit: do you think liberals are left wing?
1
u/SethLight 21d ago
I'd love to hear you actually say it. So I'll try to be more clear in my question, do you think the DNC current lines up with fascist ideals more than the GOP?
15
u/Libsoc_guitar_boi 21d ago edited 21d ago
no but that's kinda like sayin franco was less fascist than hitler
edit: now can i hear YOU answer, do you think liberals are left wing?
-4
u/SethLight 21d ago
Yes? By definition liberals are on the left of the asile? What else would be the definition of liberalism?
10
u/INBloom58 21d ago
Liberalism not left wing, it is pro capital. These words have meaning
0
u/SethLight 21d ago
Yes! Words do have meaning! Which is why we should actually use the correct words.
You can argue people aren't actually liberals but you can't argue the word liberalism secretly means its main driver is capitalism.

Again dude, you are the only one trying to argue that line of thinking. That is not what the saying means, and multiple people have explained that to you.

You can either be left or liberal, not both. Pick one. Those two things are mutually exclusive.

Good job failing to understand what I was saying.
Liberals in the US think they’re left.

I mean I'd agree if the turbo left angenda meant like we should burn down police stations and every building of governance, and burn all our money and live in a communist anarchical society. That's the turbo left agenda, not "maybe the American church is like kind of fucked up and evil, and trump is a fucking traitor."

For one, i didn't even claim to be something, so get your Subreddit right, For another What's the thing that paints me as somehow one pretending to be the other? I don't think we should burn the country to the ground, and that is something some far left people genuinely think, which is insane, unlike 99% of other left policy, including but not limited to, changes to zoning laws, changes to bodily autonomy rights to enshrine them as untouchable by crazy old white people, a nationalisation of the healthcare system and rail network to allow for a new wave of American expansionism but this time we build rails everywhere again, and any and all LGBTQ rights.
But I also think Trump isn't just a patriotic lunatic, but a fucking traitor. He's literally selling America for a quick buck and somehow managed to stack the voters, comitteees, Congress, the senate and every state court so hard that. no one is stopping him from ruining our country for his and his ball fondler's private gain, and the military conquest of the remains of Palestine by Israel, which for some fucked up reason even democrats are on board with.
Radical Left Crazytalk should be called out as such, and we need to fix things gradually to move towards a better future. The system needs to be fixed from within.

The USA has destroyed how many democracies in Latin America alone? How many nations must one nation destroy (without provocation) for itself to deserve destruction? This idea that the USA *should* continue to exist is cancer. We may have to deal with it's existence as a reality, but genocide, slavery, Jim Crow Laws, racism, classism, interventionism and so much else? No. The USA should be dismantled. Balkanized. If the citizens of the USA need to suffer a loss in the quality of life or standard of living for the entire world to be better off? Good. So be it. The fact that Trump may bring about the USA's eventual destruction is his only redeeming trait. To be clear, he should face the wall first. And the quickness of that would be a mercy he doesn't deserve.

Mate, I'm not American. I'm just saying that radical change by either an anarchical mob or a wannabe dictator trying to turn the US into a Hypercapitalist Theocracy, are both bad. Trump is a lunatic who should be in jail for high treason, and trillions worth of market manipulation and mass tax evasion and mass fraud.
But radical revolution, especially in a country so full of lunatics and weapons, is 100% going to end in mass casualties, and a destruction of America as anyone has ever known it, likely causing so much damage to the infrastructure and cities that it's going to be cheaper to build a new city next to it and leave the ruins.
Also it's not like literally everyone was still on board with being racist, genocidal classists like 100 years ago. Being a sane person that goes "actually they're not lesser just because they have darker skin" has been pretty rare until pretty recently. That's not an American problem, that's an everywhere problem and plenty of countries are still insanely racist.

u/StreetCrzyBiteUrFace 20d ago
The "Radical Left" here is not an anarchical mob, by any stretch of the imagination. It's a bunch of people that basically feel that since so much money is collected in taxes, everyone should be able to see a doctor. I'm on the fringe out here alone, in that I think the USA should be disbanded. I would guess only 5% agree with me in theory, and even less if they could push a magic button and see it happen. We need to overthrow the government, and if the population were to join me in that belief, fear of despots and idiotic Right Wing pieces of shit is not a valid reason to back down. Just a reason for dirty tactics.
