Discussion Alternate PvE Proposal: Temporary Ceasefire map condition (see caption for details and reasoning)

Post image

THE IDEA

Create a Temporary Ceasefire major map condition. Put it in the rotation with other major map events. Keep the loot super limited: no items beyond blue (rare) quality. Increase the arc presence. You can do your quests and hunt arc, but you can't gain a big power advantage.

THE REASONING

Why this, instead of an always-available PvE mode? Low-risk raiding should be a reprieve; a small treat. Not the standard.

If you remove most of the risk, you remove most of the reward. The danger is the whole point in a game like this.

Without danger, we lose lose the serendipity. You don't need to make friends or find out who people are and what they're up to. You don't have the little moments like accidentally shooting someone and then trying to make it up to them. Or the dilemma of deciding whether to defib a stranger who could be an adversary.

PvE also removes a lot of hard and soft gaming skills. I don't have to mind my aim in order to stay friendly. I don't have to say "Hey I'm friendly, what's up dude." There's no more flashlight friend-or-foe indicator. The sound of a powerful weapon no longer gets my hackles up. I don't need to listen for footsteps.

Lastly, open PvE could wreck the economy. You shouldn't be able to free-farm materials.

Adaptive matchmaking works. If you've earned your way deep into the friendly ranks, you can play all evening without getting shot at. This should suffice for most dads and uncles. But the risk is always there in the back of your mind.

And for those that need a boost now and then, we have a rotating Temporary Ceasefire map condition.

nobody forced these people to buy a PvPvE game.
their enjoyment being "limited" is their own doing, there are hundreds of PvE games out there, go and play them

" No one is forcing you to play the PvE mode, its a toggle for a reason"
ignoring the impact on the game a PvE mode has.

it being optional does not mean that it doesnt affect anything else

Exactly, it's against the fabric and heart of of the game, and ABMM solves this for 98% if games depending how you swing it within 7-10 games or so

while ABMM "solves" this particular thing for those players, ABMM itself is bad for the game, especially for those who bought it because its a PvPvE game

Everyone forgets this game was meant to be PvE initially so that drew in a lot of PvE players before they decided on PvPvE. Be that as it may be, if we go by your logic, then there is no reason a PvE mode should be a problem. The playerbase will be fragmented, regardless, if they play the PvE mode or leave to play another game. Embark are the only ones who know what the actual count of their current playerbase and the forecast of that before they decided on the PvE mode. If this game is anything like Tarkov, the PvPvE mode would end up with only sweats and cheaters.

"Everyone forgets this game was meant to be PvE initially"
years before its release, right.
the devs then decided that PvE is Boring and they added proper PvP.
do you somehow think they didnt give it more thought than "just adding PvP"`?

"The playerbase will be fragmented, regardless, if they play the PvE mode or leave to play another game. "
"either dedicated pve mode or leaving" is not the reality tho.
and even if it was, another mode takes time and attention out of the budget that could have gone somewhere else.
"Embark are the only ones who know what the actual count of their current playerbase and the forecast of that before they decided on the PvE mode. "
which is irrelevant.
A PvE mode directly impacts the PvEvP mode, which was a major part if this games appeal.
I dont know why you would bring tarkov into this, its a vastly different game and not nearly as heavy on friendly or uncertain player to player interaction than Arc is.
and even if it were, Tarkov only added a PvE mode because nikita wanted those sweet doubloons after he saw how much traction SPT got so he decided to capitalize of his broken game and added a PvE mode.

calling everyone either sweat or a cheater is a massive cope btw, this game has the biggest normie crowd out of every Extraction shooter out there

I’m so tired of this fucking “it’s a toggle” argument—it literally dislodges the entire population of the game and makes the ABMM distribution extremely disproportionate, especially for someone who plays in the middle or enjoys the PvPvE play style.

The last 24 hours alone have been an absolute shit show of a blood bath and that NEVER happens with me. Granted, it isn’t all of my games, but a LOT of my games are literally shoot on sight right now and that is NOT normal for me whatsoever.

News flash: my enjoyment of a game that was already created should not be dissolved so that you can have a mode catered specifically for your enjoyment! ✨

agree.
the game was at its peak when it released and PvPvE was the norm.
Then ABMM split the playerbase into 2 main groups and tries its best to put the few PvPvE players into the other 2 groups too.
PvE mode is the next nail in the coffin of PvPvE players and shouldnt be a thing for numerous reasons, same way ABMM shouldnt.

Embark clearly only does this in the hopes of cultivating a carebear base that they can endlessly farm for skins

Now they can buy a pve game :)

This idea that pvpve is the only prescription for this game is comical.

1

u/Babefly1 5h ago

"the idea that the PvPvE game that advertised itself as a PvPvE game that only exists because PvPvE players bought that PvPvE game should stay PvPvE is comical"

and PvE players wonder why nobody likes them, they successfully hijacked a game, destroyed it for the OG audience and still feel entitled to more

u/Chruman 4h ago

Now its a pvpve or pve game advertised as a pvpve or pve game being purchased by pvpve or pve players.

These are not serious arguments my guy lmao

u/Babefly1 4h ago

im sorry that you cant comprehend what i said, but thats not my problem.

0

u/Chruman 4h ago

Lmao thats what I thought

2

u/Babefly1 4h ago

considering that your only point is "well, they already smeared the cake full of shit so NOW its a shit cake" i dont think that you thought anything

1

u/Chruman 4h ago

This entirely presupposes that pve mode is shit lmao

And your only argument is something that applies equally to pve mode now

You tried. Ill give you that lol

2

u/Babefly1 4h ago

"This entirely presupposes that pve mode is shit lmao"
no, proving again that you cant comprehend what you read.
you see the word "shit" ignore the rest of the sentence and go into defense mode.

"And your only argument is something that applies equally to pve mode now"
no, proving again that you cant comprehend what you read.

Lmao that's what I thought

So Youre saying it’s best to just stop playing the game completely (which can ultimately kill the player count) than to be happily using the PVE toggle mode??

2

u/Babefly1 7h ago

no.
if you need to start your statement with "so your saying" 9/10 times this is not what the person is saying.

"(which can ultimately kill the player count)"
this is an empty threat btw, nobody cares whether these people leave or not
